Avatar the Last Airbender was ruly the last show on Nick that actually held its ground to plot and personality. Iroh and Katara being my all time favorite. Very nice video, might I suggest one little critique however. The scene where it shows Sozin standing over Roku, that little quip really had nothing to do with Iroh and his past, and to me kind of just made me go "huh? Why is this here?" Everything else though was great. I like Hurt by NIN better but thats just a preference haha. 5/5

Just because he's a cartoon character doesn't mean you can't feel bad for him or connect with him. That just means the writers of the show did a good job developing a meaningful character.
The death of his son changed him forever, a sacrifice for a brighter future that scars Iroh just like how the sacrifice of banishment both mentally and physically scarred Zuko. That is why they both share such a close bond. It is beautiful how well the lyrics "You are someone else, I am still right here" tie in perfectly with the way that Iroh feels he has a second chance with Zuko in redeeming himself.
Just for the mental image, I'm 6ft2 220 lbs and thick, young man. I can't last 30 seconds of this song without weeping, and the chorus just shatters me completely.
This is a beautiful Iroh tribute. I love the juxtaposition you did between the memories of his dead son, Lu Ten, and his more recent relationship with Zuko. Nicely done.
I love this song and this video, much respect for it. Only I feel uncomfortable with seeing Iroh with this song. this song to me signifies a disgraced man. To me he was not a disgrace, he was a very wise man. Who embodied honour and wisdom all with light-heartedness. And he never lost faith in Zuko. But still much respect for the AMV it is one of the best I have seen.
Iroh is(In my opinion) the best character in avatar. He is a very wise and persistent man(jn a good way). He stayed caring about zuko and considered zuko his son. He also was in actuality helping the avatar the whole time he and zuko chased down Aang. He just was an amazing character. My second favorite would have to be Zuko because he showed a struggle and you got to feel for him more than some of the other characters.
Iroh is tied for my favorite characters in the Avatar series. Zuko being the other. Dont get me wrong 99% of the Avatar main characters are beyond interesting. But the inner demons that Zuko and Iroh carried around for all 3 books is just so heavy for the soul. Poor Iroh blaming himself for the death of his son. I sure at one point in his life Iroh was just as cold as Lord Ozai. They touched on how Iroh thought his destiny was to take take Ba Sing Se when in reality is was to take it back!
In a flashback, Iroh made a joke about burning down Ba Sing Sei. He laughed at the thought of burning down one of the biggest cities in the world, so it's safe to assume he once was a cruel person.
I don't actually Iroh is a bad guy because he helped the water tribe north pole to get the moon back and he helped the person that wanted to get money from him.I hate fire lord ozai he hurted airbenders and he was so mean to Zuko. I also think that Zuko is kind of a good guy now! Azula is so bad. The Fire NATION IS JUST SO CRUEL! I just hate most of them. Killing people everyday. If I were in the fire nation I would betray them no matter how big the punishment is. Little soldier boy is great!
Iroh was a bad guy, he was just a good-natured one. Fire Lord Sozin wanted to spread the Fire Nation and share its great wonders with the rest of the world. As years went on, firebenders began to feel a sense of superiority and began to take over lands because they felt they had a right to it.
In book one, Iroh's allegiance was to the Fire Nation, to spreading its ideology and customs. He changed sides when he realized that the Fire Nation had gotten out of control, and even turned against him

but now after hearing it a couple of times, i think this song is so freaking awesome. It has a lot of emotion and meaning in it and it is probably one of my favorite songs now.
right, so upon research i found myself to be a moron, sorta like with Jimi's all along the watchtower, I guess cash's just sorta overpowered the original in my mind. maybe cus for cash, this song is all about a lifetime of pain and regrets, sung just before dying, so the emotions are trully palpable. for NIN, it's more about the pain of drugs and suicidal thoughts, still real powerful, but not quite as universally powerful as cash's,IMO.
Take comfort in that, because nick seems to be getting worse and worse, cranking out all of this....what's the word?....idiotic tv shows. I miss the older days...

Actually no. Nine Inch Nails wrote this song before Cash sung it. Cash covered "Hurt" when he was well into his old age. Cash may have been around longer than NIN but it was they who wrote and sung "Hurt" first.

Good song choice and concept. Needs a lot of work 'tho. A lot of the zooms and cuts are too fast and you need to rearrange the clips so Iroh is on whenever the song hits an important beat (like at the end of a lyric)

it's good but you said in your notes its a "johnny cash cover." Uhm, he's the original artist. Nine inch nails came after Cash, so the Nine inch nails version is a "cover." okay.

Actually no. Nine Inch Nails wrote this song before Cash sung it. Cash covered "Hurt" when he was well into his old age. Cash may have been around longer than NIN but it was they who wrote and sung "Hurt" first.

thanks mate for the comment. I agree now, there are some moments when I wince because the cut was too fast or too slow. Yeah I've made other new ones where I hope I've improved but I don't think I'll be posting on Youtube anymore. Like I said this is my last amv for quite a while.

Good song choice and concept. Needs a lot of work 'tho. A lot of the zooms and cuts are too fast and you need to rearrange the clips so Iroh is on whenever the song hits an important beat (like at the end of a lyric)
