i have a gibson and a fender, i found that my gibson has a harder sound becuz of the pick ups rather then the single coils, n yes, when i use my fender i do get a hard rock sound but, i use it for blues because of the "twange" and "muddish" sound that prefer

Your tone sounds a little wierd, maybe look into getting a new guitar, but practice first, get better, then when you get a new guitar with good pickups you'll sound 10 times better. 6 months ago i upgraded from a $40 silvertone to an epiphone SG and my tone is so much more powerful.

So yeah, practice, and if you have a couple hundred dollars hanging around, :D consider buying a guitar. It doesn't necisarily have to be a $2000 guitar, just get a $300 one and you'll see big improvments.
