Both civilisations are somehow interested in each other, but because of the enemies of Rome and China are right in between the two empires, there is not much contact as with the Romans and the Southern Indians. Considering China at the time is very isolationist, they only came into contact with the merchants. Under the Han dynasty, the emperor sent 9 envoys towards 'Da Han' (Other Han), only one returned hinting either they lacked enough food, attacks by Persians, etc.
Roman and Chinese merchants did live between the nations though, one came back with the description of society, culture, politics, history and art of what the Roman/Chinese people look like. The Romans crave silk while Chinese want metals and to some extent, olive/grape products. Their biggest contact was after 10K Romans were displaced by Parthians. Chinese generals described these soldiers as Caucasian and they fight in a "Fish formation". These Romans today live in Liqian.
Just imagine a world without them and without.......
Rome: Roads, sewers, toilets, socks, Due process (Innocent until proven otherwise), aqueducts, its architecture, Spoon, fire engine, central heating, Ballistic, dams, bath tubs, and public health care.
China: Herbal medicines, movable type, compass, gunpowder, paper currency, paper (Romans would use papyrus and animal skin), Bellows, Chop Sticks, Window Crank, Crossbow, Domino, hand cannon, land mine, and waterwheels.
Most likely. The silk road's used by European and Middle Eastern civilisations. Thing is, when Rome and Parthia was in power, they became flaming rivals therefore it is hard for Romans to go through the silk road, plus it takes longer than simply traveling to China itself by sea. But yes, Asian goods did end up in Rome and other major cities within the Empire until 476, when only the Eastern half is traded with Asia. After Rome's absolute fall in 1453, you get 'European Imperialism'.
Ironic that the Praetorians were created by Octavianus Augustus to protect the Emperors, while they actually are being responsible for the death of 6-7 emperors lol.
In all honesty... With their list of assassinations... The Praetorian were still skilled fighters and loyal to an Emperor they believed was in the right and followed... I still liked them and believe their symbol of the Scorpion fits their ability to defend quite well.

@Spartiatai300 The Roman Emperors had Illyrian Guards - The Praetorians were Illyrians cuz Illyrians were LOYAL TO THE DEATH . Germans were used as soldiers . Firstly the praetorians were Italic people than the Roman used the Illyrians . Still today in Albania are preserved the honor codes of Illyrians like BESA and KANUN that were recorded by Caesar when in the North Albania the Illyrians swore absolute loyalty to the Emperor of Rome
It'd be hard to trust Praetorians if I was an Emperor. I would have done what Augustus & later Byzantine Emperors did & hired/recruited a German/Varangian guard because the Germans weren't open to being bribed into betrayal because they weren't caught up in Roman politics/squabbles & honor/loyalty as a warrior meant more than a little gold. Also, they were huge & fast. I would've outfitted mine in heavy armor with giant sword & 2-handed axe & Manchu-like 100+lbs.draw bows & javelin sized arrows.
@CroPETROforever Check out how this song would add nicely to this video, watch?v=yxowW2imqYQ&feature=related play both videos at the same time and it will sound amazing (especially the ending), remeber to turn off the sound of the praetorian video :P

Emperors were idiots. way oyu should pick you bodyguards is this: Go with them in war, fight against enemies hwo outnumber you 100 to 1, and then pick those who didn`t run away.
@PlOTRSTB Agreed. Here in the United States we have a bunch of il legit leaders who were chosen by the elite, not the people. The political policies are progressive statist with a fascist twist to it. The actions of the United States for the past 50 years were not ordered by the US government but rather these ruling elite. They are using the United States to complete their own objectives with intent of collapsing the United States upon the rise of their "New World Order" and they will fail.
In any society larger than a tiny city-state "democracy" becomes oligarchy pretty soon, since the "vox populi" is getting harder to hear and easier to mock. United States are but the brightest example. U'r lucky that the "elite" is at least interested in some social stability and even a little technical progress for everyone. So, looking at the US from outside most say :Hey, they live too fine to be "struggling clans", they must be all in the same team, and they are teaching everyone!

do you know why the praetorien guard was dissolved by Emperor Constantine I in the fourth century AD.
Because they had a bad habit of assasinating ther emperor for the highest bidder, and then put another emperor on the throne.

There's a reason Roman Emperors started using Germanic Guards, they were loyal to the death. Preatorians often betrayed their Emperor.
