HP has never been about vocal talent, unfortunately. Teaching the girls to sing well costs money - money they won't be getting much of a return on. You don't need to teach them how to be cute and look good on merchandise because they more or less do that on their own, and merch is where HP makes its money. I'm not trying to sound like a hater, just being realistic.

I think the only other person who could've sung this as good as Linlin is Aya (THE best vocalist of H!P). Any if only two singers could sing this piece and one isn't in H!P anymore, that means Linlin was the best vocalist in H!P. I'm so sad she's gone. But I hope she will do well in China.

Linlin's solo says to me that Morning Musume doesn't get as much vocal training as they should be. Linlin was already active in the entertainment industry before becoming an Egg and she's 18 now.

Takahashi, who is arguably the best singer H!P has, spent half her life under a very specific genre of Jpop. With the types of songs they sing, she's already maxed out her potential.

Giving Linlin a jazz piece makes everyone else look bad thanks to the song structure and her already powerful vocals.

@skyxkami agree, jazz just fit linlin like that! aichan is probably the only other girl that can do something like this and sound good too. reina and eri dont have a chance, their voices are just different and wont sound good in a slow jazz.
