@hwoods01 I certainly don't speak "nazi", but there is detailed info on the workings of the Fieseler 103 flying bomb on Wikipedia, (and other sites). It was in fact a very complicated guided missile. It had a gyroscope, a radio tube, an odometer, a guillotine to cut the controls and put it into a steep dive, etc. There was even a piloted version known as the "Reichenberg" Hanna Reitsch made several test flights of the Reichenberg.

Everyone thinks of the germans as super efficient..but they aren't...They re supplied their soldiers with normal size boots instead of larger ones to allow them to wear three pairs of socks...a mistake that cost thousands of frostbite casualties..The russians wore felt boots and mittens with one finger on the side allowed them to fire their weapons without removing their gloves. They could then slide their finger back into the mitten....simple....but effective
Loose fitting boots result in blisters and will cripple a soldier. The Germans also produced felt lined boots and mittens with a single trigger finger. The Germans even produced sleeping bags but supply problems did not allow them to widley distribute them. Well into the 1960's the USAF manual on winter survival was a copy of the one produced by the Wehrmacht. Poor logistical planning not inferior equipment caused the Germans to lose in Russia.
@logibear64 One thing about the Germans....It took the WHOLE WORLD to beat them. My father fought them and had a grudging admiration for the ordinary german soldier..they weren't all cruel murdering bastards...Just like our lads...they just wanted to go home to their families and did as they were told...How much talent and inventive genius was lost to the world because of the two wars..search for the 'Treaty of versailles'...it'll explain how WW2 kicked off..
@logibear64 exactly. My great grandfather used to tell stories about waiting for reinforcement for weeks, and wearing clothes they could see through. Once they raided a soviet camp, and found lots of clothes with gasoline on them, what they wanted to set on fire, so the troops wouldn't be able to use it
@tony00165 although the German uniforms were prettier the Russian uniforms were superior to the lighter German uniforms. In the winter Russian uniforms lost only 5% of body heat per hour compared to 35% per hour for the German uniforms. The German helmet would also freeze to the skin on the neck of the neck if it touched it. Hitler was a military adventurer who risked his soldiers lives on a gamble that eventually failed.
The Dt. Soldiers had no winter equipment solely because a winter was not planned. Russia should be defeated before the winter. The army was equipped only with summer gear.
@Lightfromsirius That's right..The germans thought it would be all over before the freezing weather arrived...They were aware of what happened to Napoleon and it was in their thinking. The Russians backed off burnig everything and moved factories and machinery behind the Urals. The sheer size of the country affected German soldiers considerably as the scenery didn't change even after advancing hundreds of miles they saw the same flat land stretching into the distance.
@jacob1363 True, the German Army was quite a big well trained force. But, Germany was producing vital modern military hardware on a peacetime basis......by the start of the war, their army didn't have enough modern Half Track APC's to go round for their infantry. They relied heavily on Horse drawn transport, their soldiers had to march many gruelling miles, (think how that felt in Russia) + their High Command spent more time fighting each other than the enemy. And, Hitler constantly interfered.
@EGMAG Brits didn't kick Nazis. They were just in cover behind others (US, Soviet and rest of the world). Brits were no match to Nazi Germany in a one by one war.
@jacob1363 Perhaps they should of tried a one on one war then?,they had the option afterall but opted to go East instead which seems to suggest the Germans themselves lacked your confidence in the outcome .
@jacob1363 but if it wasnt for Britain Hamburg would still be There XD well it is there But durning WW2 it got completley Destroyed just Like Nuremberg Witch was Bombed by the RAF too and the British Navy was more than a Match to the Germans they sunk the bismarck alone they hade Carriers good battleships Trained crews and won in North Africa (if you or anyone mentions the US in africa the US only came in the end by that time the Brits hade won North Africa for them)
@jasincl Bismark was fighting with several warships, and Germans scuttled it when it ran out of ammunition. Rommel with a very small army kicked Brits badly in north Africa, while most of the German army was in eastern fronts. Britain had no chance to fight Nazi Germany alone.
All the nazis did was to take advantage of peaceful countries who were militarily unprepared. Once the axis countries faced a prepared force the nazies coward like yellow chickens and still continued the genocide and even murders of fellow Germans. what a disgraceful lot.
Think of this...there is no doubt that the battle of stalingrad was the turning point in Europe in WW2...If the germans had won people imagine it would have been a world victory for Hitler......not so...The Americans were way down the road to an atomic bomb and intended to use it on Berlin but the european war ended beforehand. The allies would have lost a lot of territory before the weapon was ready but the it would have been over in a blinding flash.
from my opinion, they attack on Stalingrad had two effects, one: the Russians lost their moral, but then two: They turned it into anger, and one thing you don't want to fight is angry russians in the motherland. but if they could take russia, they would be able to launch V1's on America, I'm just glad the war ended the way it did ;)
Would it be possible for you to upload again so that it is in the new better quality now available from You Tube? Do you have a copy to sell? Wäre es möglich, dass Sie zum Hochladen noch einmal so, dass es in der neuen Qualität jetzt von You Tube? Haben Sie eine Kopie zu verkaufen?
The Germans still are very good scientist and engeneers. The Nazis haven't got to do with that at all, becuase otherwise all Germans would be (still) Nazis, wht is just completely wrong.
And about that nuce-stuff: The Germans knew how to build such a Bomb,.but the development of all the things, you need to buld a nuke, would have cost to much money, time and material (they didn't have).
And Tiberiotertio is right. German is the most spokan language on the Internet, so it's worth to learn it.
nazis are the reason why germany is so advanced. It is all about war. Countries that are going through big and long wars invest much money in developing their technology. Same with Japan. As ironic as it sounds- you should be thankful for that. Nazi germany was a kick in the ass for your technology because it was needed to fight other countries. There is nothing wrong with it, it is just the way things work
the german didn't want the war. but they knew that Stalin wanted to attack Germany. In 1920 the soviets invaded the Finland... That's why so many waffen ss from Finland fought against the bolchevists.
If the German and the volontary of the waffen ss didn't resist against the bolshevists, the Russian "liberate" the France before the Americans.
We saw later how the Russian "liberate" the est europe!
I talked to old people from france, Belgium and Swissland who were in France during the 2.WW. they told me that the avrage german behaved often better towards the french population than the French themself ! About to resistant:only a few of them were good. the most comite plundering of musees ... and they blamed the germans for it but the witter told it !
the russians violated all the women and small girls too, treated the civilans very bed... !
Well I admire your information, but I have to disagree. The Soviets were made the enemy by their allies as well. I think people had best be thankful that the Soviets won their front, for if they had not, the war could have been over before 1943. Hitler wanted all Russians dead. Considering the population, that would have been worse. Don't start on the 'violations,' especially considering the atrocities committed by every single participant in the war.
(to continue) You said 'the average German' behaved well - I have no doubt in that. The only Germans that were really the problem were the ones in power. The soldiers were simply following orders, like every good soldier. You must understand, that the average Russian was a normal human being as well, and the soldiers were just the same as on the other side. You can't sum up the behavior of a whole nationality by the actions of a few men. I don't want to start a fight, but this is a touchy topic.
@hagalruno The germans executed one of their soldiers for raping a french woman in 1940.....four years later they shot people on the roads and little children (The photos are in most french towns and villages) and in one case a little pup in a kennel..they killed the whole population of ARADOUR on their way out of france..The french left it as a memorial..except for clearing the rubble from the roads..it's still there!
@tony00165 Oradour Sur Glane was mistaken for Oradour-sur-Vayres. 2 French civilians said a German was captured and being held. "On 10 June, Diekmann's battalion sealed off the town of Oradour-sur-Glane, having confused it with nearby Oradour-sur-Vayres" wikipedia "The original village was destroyed on 10 June 1944, when 642 of its inhabitants, including women and children, were massacred by a German Waffen-SS" wikipedia
@clintonearlwalker Thank you for the clarification...as a young man I travelled all over Normandy...I looked and I listened and I saw....terrible things done to innocents by the germans...It was reckoned that the german army marched on 'benzadrine'..which made their soldiers red eyed and merciless.
@tony00165 I've never heard that German soldiers were taking benzedrine, however considering what they did to civilians in places like Auschwitz and Majdanek, I don't doubt it. I think the turning point was the loss in Stalingrad, after that I think the Nazi's ramped up their brutality to it's highest possible point. In feb 1943 Goebbels made the "Totaler Krieg" speech, and Nazi murder was taken to new levels.
@clintonearlwalker I don't think drugs were given to all and sundry..just front line soldiers....I'm sure everyone uses them..British pilots re fuelling several times on way to the Falklands had to take their 'purple hearts' at a prescibed time in order to stay alert....it's a tool that has to be used....Like the Beatles playing those long hours in Hamburg I suppose.!
@tony00165 I know that American truck drivers take speed, it's not legal though. I worked in a machine shop and many people took drugs, not legal there either. I don't know about American soldiers, I'm sure many do but I doubt if it's legal unless it is prescribed by a doctor. Personally, I don't really like the idea of bomber pilots flying around carrying themonuclear warheads on drugs. About 30 years ago a B-52 crashed near here with 2 H-bombs on board.
@hagalruno The Russians had 4 days(officially) to do as they liked to the german population..whole families committed suicide..East Prussia was evacuated...the people Running west towards us and the yanks..hundreds of thousands of german women and young girls were brutally raped and people shot out of hand...Payback time eh!....Jeeeeeez! what a fucking nightmare.!
Please, get an historybook or look on wikipedia, but don't post such things. The Germans invented the Otto-Motor, the Telephone, found the x-rays and had the knowhow in physiks to build a nuke, before the II WW. It has got nothing to do with the scientific development, if a country leads a war but with spending money in it.
If there is one thing you should never say to a German, it is that the WW II was good for his country!! Have you got any idea what were the consequences of that war ?
@X2Y19Z they Knew how to build a Nuke But Einstein Also knew (he was German Too But Jewish) and in Norway they Blew up the Factory that made some important stuff before the Germans came in
@X2Y19Z "...had the knowhow in physiks to build a nuke..." German scientists was locked after ww2 and they unlocked them only becouse it was clear that they dont have this "knowhow"...
The Germans essentially invented the nuke, but I believe the reason they never were able to make one was beacuse a hard water plant in Norway was destroyed by British commandos. This plant was essential for Germany to produce a nuke. Don't quote me on this, but that's what I heard. I also think that if Germany could have made a nuke at the time, they would have. I don't think that resources were much of an issue because a nuke would likely end the war anyway.
@X2Y19Z The german A Bomb..when the sites were overran by the allied advance they found that the German scientists were going down the wrong road and were years away from producing one...thankfully.....The yanks were only a couple of months away Search for the pics of the test..the Bomb is round like a ball because of the 'implosion' technique..thought up by some boffin squeezing an orange it's said..otherwise it needed an aircraft to carry a 50 ton payload....years and years down the line.
@X2Y19Z.Hidden.Microphones picked up gaoled german boffins in a cell talking exitedly when they heard news of Hiroshima...they couldn't understand the progress of the yanks because they themselves were on the wrong track and needed a few more years to produce an A bomb..The Allied advance proved it when sites were inspected by our scientists. Also without the British 'Implosion' idea it wouldn't go bang without a 50 ton cannon to achieve 'critical mass.' and no aircraft existed capable of that .
@X2Y19Z German is not the most spoken language on the internet. Sorry to disappoint you. Its English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese THAN GERMAN :)
@X2Y19Z Im very happy about your comment, I am from Germany and im proud to see that the majority of people dont have this "nazi attitude" about us Germans anymore.
Many friends of my grandpa and grandma died in world war 2 it was a bad and sad time for everyone, for the Americans and also for the Germans.
The only thing i can do is .. i hope that something like that will never happen again.
@MachineFight During the war a hurt American soldier arrived at my grandpas farm. It was in year 1945 this soldier lived for four months on my grandpas farm in this time they got friends the name of this soldier was Paul Doyle. After the war he remained in germany. And even today, the two meet almost every month.
What i want so say with that is .. let us be friends and forget our bad past.
Can I ask where the original of this film came from? There is a poor qi=uality copy in the Imperial War Museum but not for public release only in their archives. A more recent upload with better quality (there is no longer a need to break it up into short part) would be greatfully appreciated. By the way the concrete airfield in squares where the V1 was filmed (at Peenemunde) still exists as an old tyre dump!
@Euroman25 yes....I know what you mean....the high pitched voice we find so awful...almost like a charicature by a comedian taking the piss...I'm sure the germans didn't realise at the time how they were percieved.....'Ve haff vays of makink you talk'.....wasn't far off the mark was it!.........from England.
Like the germans pwnd the brittsh with them during the war. Then they figured out how to take them down. By that time they started to use the "unready" project weapon V2. The german military was far more advanced than the allies atleast before the nuke, which the germans was very close to develop by the time the allies did. I
Advanced isn't necessarily the word. In many cases the Germans had the advantage, but this was due to hitlers drastic measures and tactics. Both the V-1 and V-2 were barely tested and Hitler was relying almost completely on these to turn the tide of the war. Lucky for him they did briefly.
@yewteewb: The Nazis were far from developing nuclear weapons. They didn't even have the manufacturing capabilities to produce enough weapons grade material.
@Musicman55ism Well the fact that I'm British fecks up your argument there. I could also link you to nearly every single article that Google brings up if you type the question, "How close was Nazi Germany to developing the Nuclear Bomb?" or similar, but I think you are probably gifted enough to do so yourself. Please, look at the facts before making stupid assumptions.
The US developed the Atom bomb for use against Nazi Germany. Seeing how the war in Europe ended before the first bomb was tested made it a moot point. Fortunately for the developers Japan was left to use the bomb on and keep the program from being a epic bust.
@logibear64 I do not see any kind of 'fortune' in having to use a weapon of mass destruction. The act of dropping the nukes did in fact end the war, but there was nothing good about being able to drop bombs that decimated two cities fillied with civillians, in your point, "keep the program from being a epic bust.".
@logibear64 You think Japan was the only thing that stopped the Manhattan project being an "epic bust". I pretty sure the cold war had something to do with it ^^
@12OclockLow The P51 was a British specification given to Boeing. to make..they were too busy so gave it to North American Aviation. The engine wasn't supercharged and when assessed was found to be dissapointing'...someone suggested the 27 litre V12 overhead cam merlin engine (made by the brummies)...a marriage made in heaven and the best aircraft of WW2....incredible range and performance...absolutely wonderful.
if i was going to be stereotypical i would say that all muslim people are terrorists, which is not true, but thats a stereotype, kraut is not. And i dont think its a good idea to be calling out someone when your country was responsible for burning 6 million+ jewish people just 65 years ago. dont u shink?
"Kraut" existed as a slur long before Hitler and the Holocaust. It is a slur just as the word "nigger", "Kike" or "wetback." These words do not in any way shape or form enlighten or better mankind.
@chattanoogapark : and what about the American people annihilating the whole Indian tribe of about 200 million people for the goldrush and the railroad?
Get a life and read some history books that were not published in the States...
@chattanoogapark Guess what: Every European country where Jews migrated, people killed or harrased them. Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, England, Holland, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Norway, Sweden, France and Greece. This continues today.
Although I am against censorship I hate epithets that add nothing to the discussion. So I have removed the offensive posting. I apologize for not removing it sooner. BTW I am not German.
did u guys know that the nazis(WW2) made a plane called the natter, tis was a v1 buzz bomb that was intended for suicide and for defense was armed with 20 free-fire rockets (because it was modified). this was intended to force the americans(WW2) to retreat but it didn't work. all it did was kill hundreds of nazi suicide pilots and destroy only 10 american ammo depots, 9 airfields, 37 unmanned shermans and 7 abandoned hq's.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
After launching the rockets, the pilot left the craft by parachute, and the very valuable engine was detached and parachuted to the ground as well.
I think the suicide myth comes from the Me163 rocket interceptor - this flew on hydogen-peroxide, landed on skids and was difficult to steer. It killed more germans than allieds when the engine blew or the pilot got in contact with the fuel, dissolving him alive. Or in landing accidents.
LOL where did you get your information from? the V-1 'buzz bomb' was a RAMJET powered gyro controled missile. it would be launched off a rocket platform and the gyro would direct it in a preset direction. the fuel would be calculated to run out at the target and the craft would crash into the ground and the warhead would explode. the Me163 Komet was a rocket powered bomber interceptor. it only killed ~12 german pilots.
a ramjet is a supersonic jet engine, it must travel at mach 1 before the engines will even operate.
the v-1 used a pulse jet engine, the pulse caused by opening and closing the input vavles causing a pulse in combustion. this created the " buzz bomb"
and it would be set to fly a pre-set number of miles then go into a steep dive, it wouldnt run out of fuel as air pressure, wind direction, e.t.c.. too many factors would make that concept extremely unreliable
I thought a ram jet was an enginr with no compresser on the front and instead forced the V1 forward through the air at take off to achieve the same effect..hence the rocket assisted take off to set the process in motion...Vi's were not supersonic and could be caught from behind by Mustangs..Spitfires Tempests in fact most British fighters..a small propeller cut the fuel off after a number of pre determined revolutions.
@geetarwanabe Ermmmmm...Concorde had ducting to reduce the speed of the air going into the engines to well below mach1 even though it was flying at mach2...this reduction was achieved in about 12ft and was brilliant innovation by the British.....I watched a programme on it right the way through.
@tony00165 i had to check my comment since it was a year ago that i posted that.. and concorde doesnt use a ramjet engine so what are you talking about? concorde has a high by-pass turbojet engine, ramjet engines are used for Mach 3-6, but you are right about one thing.. concorde was a billiant innovation by the british and french, I really wish they'd re-introduce a more efficient version for todays economy.
@geetarwanabe Apologies...I checked and read about Ram and pulse jets on Wikipedia just now....not too easy for a layman to understand everything but I get a better picture of what's what now....your posting was accurate..I now understand why a V1 made that noise and the difference between Ram and Pulse...I learned about cars a while back and the 'Ram' effect on the radiator and air intake confused me.........hands up!
good comment battlewalker I gave it thumbs up its handy info.
I bet there were brainwashed fanatical nazis who would have done it but germany would have soon ran out of them and would have had NO volunteers.
Suicide attacks are not really any part of Western culture though, the idea is to strike then survive and retreat in order to strike again, staying alive and keep firing you are always still a threatand much more useful than an idiotic suicide.
Bachem Ba 349 Natter (colubrid) was a World War II era German experimental point-defense rocket-powered interceptor aircraft which was to be used in a very similar way as unmanned surface-to-air missiles. After vertical takeoff which eliminated the need for airfields, the majority of the flight to the bombers was radio controlled from the ground. The primary mission of the (inexperienced) pilot was to aim the aircraft at its target bomber and fire its armament of rockets.
Could someone who speaks nazi translate this audio and post a vid with subtitles please..

Hitler was a military adventurer who risked his soldiers lives on a gamble that eventually failed.
binaway 1 year ago
@tony00165
The Dt. Soldiers had no winter equipment solely because a winter was not planned. Russia should be defeated before the winter. The army was equipped only with summer gear.
Lightfromsirius 1 year ago
@Lightfromsirius That's right..The germans thought it would be all over before the freezing weather arrived...They were aware of what happened to Napoleon and it was in their thinking. The Russians backed off burnig everything and moved factories and machinery behind the Urals. The sheer size of the country affected German soldiers considerably as the scenery didn't change even after advancing hundreds of miles they saw the same flat land stretching into the distance.

@tony00165 As I know british army was just a little fag in compare with nazi army. who is stupid then?
jacob1363 1 year ago
@jacob1363 True, the German Army was quite a big well trained force. But, Germany was producing vital modern military hardware on a peacetime basis......by the start of the war, their army didn't have enough modern Half Track APC's to go round for their infantry. They relied heavily on Horse drawn transport, their soldiers had to march many gruelling miles, (think how that felt in Russia) + their High Command spent more time fighting each other than the enemy. And, Hitler constantly interfered.

@jasincl Bismark was fighting with several warships, and Germans scuttled it when it ran out of ammunition. Rommel with a very small army kicked Brits badly in north Africa, while most of the German army was in eastern fronts. Britain had no chance to fight Nazi Germany alone.

The allies would have lost a lot of territory before the weapon was ready but the it would have been over in a blinding flash.
tony00165 2 years ago
from my opinion, they attack on Stalingrad had two effects, one: the Russians lost their moral, but then two: They turned it into anger, and one thing you don't want to fight is angry russians in the motherland. but if they could take russia, they would be able to launch V1's on America, I'm just glad the war ended the way it did ;)

There is nothing wrong with it, it is just the way things work
zicer01 2 years ago
Yea you are right about technological advance during wars.
Germany started as the first with armoured warfare, they were the first to have jetengines and the first to create a ballistic missile (V2 rocket).
Same goes for America who invented the nuclear bomb.

the german didn't want the war. but they knew that Stalin wanted to attack Germany. In 1920 the soviets invaded the Finland... That's why so many waffen ss from Finland fought against the bolchevists.
If the German and the volontary of the waffen ss didn't resist against the bolshevists, the Russian "liberate" the France before the Americans.

@clintonearlwalker Thank you for the clarification...as a young man I travelled all over Normandy...I looked and I listened and I saw....terrible things done to innocents by the germans...It was reckoned that the german army marched on 'benzadrine'..which made their soldiers red eyed and merciless.
tony00165 1 year ago

@X2Y19Z The german A Bomb..when the sites were overran by the allied advance they found that the German scientists were going down the wrong road and were years away from producing one...thankfully.....The yanks were only a couple of months away Search for the pics of the test..the Bomb is round like a ball because of the 'implosion' technique..thought up by some boffin squeezing an orange it's said..otherwise it needed an aircraft to carry a 50 ton payload....years and years down the line.
tony00165 1 year ago
@X2Y19Z.Hidden.Microphones picked up gaoled german boffins in a cell talking exitedly when they heard news of Hiroshima...they couldn't understand the progress of the yanks because they themselves were on the wrong track and needed a few more years to produce an A bomb..The Allied advance proved it when sites were inspected by our scientists. Also without the British 'Implosion' idea it wouldn't go bang without a 50 ton cannon to achieve 'critical mass.' and no aircraft existed capable of that .

Like the germans pwnd the brittsh with them during the war. Then they figured out how to take them down. By that time they started to use the "unready" project weapon V2. The german military was far more advanced than the allies atleast before the nuke, which the germans was very close to develop by the time the allies did. I
yewteewb 3 years ago
Advanced isn't necessarily the word. In many cases the Germans had the advantage, but this was due to hitlers drastic measures and tactics. Both the V-1 and V-2 were barely tested and Hitler was relying almost completely on these to turn the tide of the war. Lucky for him they did briefly.
Aerobatique 3 years ago

Please, look at the facts before making stupid assumptions.
ihateyourface 1 year ago
The US developed the Atom bomb for use against Nazi Germany. Seeing how the war in Europe ended before the first bomb was tested made it a moot point. Fortunately for the developers Japan was left to use the bomb on and keep the program from being a epic bust.
logibear64 1 year ago
@logibear64 I do not see any kind of 'fortune' in having to use a weapon of mass destruction. The act of dropping the nukes did in fact end the war, but there was nothing good about being able to drop bombs that decimated two cities fillied with civillians, in your point, "keep the program from being a epic bust.".

did u guys know that the nazis(WW2) made a plane called the natter, tis was a v1 buzz bomb that was intended for suicide and for defense was armed with 20 free-fire rockets (because it was modified). this was intended to force the americans(WW2) to retreat but it didn't work. all it did was kill hundreds of nazi suicide pilots and destroy only 10 american ammo depots, 9 airfields, 37 unmanned shermans and 7 abandoned hq's.
BattleWalker572 3 years ago
Are you sure it was intended for suicide? I thought it parachuted the main part of the Natter to earth to be reused (and hopefully the pilot too!).
BEEFYBAYONET 3 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
After launching the rockets, the pilot left the craft by parachute, and the very valuable engine was detached and parachuted to the ground as well.
Ripper2800 3 years ago
LOL where did you get your information from? the V-1 'buzz bomb' was a RAMJET powered gyro controled missile. it would be launched off a rocket platform and the gyro would direct it in a preset direction. the fuel would be calculated to run out at the target and the craft would crash into the ground and the warhead would explode. the Me163 Komet was a rocket powered bomber interceptor. it only killed ~12 german pilots.
vdub2002 3 years ago
well your technically wrong also,
a ramjet is a supersonic jet engine, it must travel at mach 1 before the engines will even operate.
the v-1 used a pulse jet engine, the pulse caused by opening and closing the input vavles causing a pulse in combustion. this created the " buzz bomb"
and it would be set to fly a pre-set number of miles then go into a steep dive, it wouldnt run out of fuel as air pressure, wind direction, e.t.c.. too many factors would make that concept extremely unreliable
geetarwanabe 3 years ago 3
vbud is correct..the bomb wasnt that accurate and it dropped once fuel was burnt up.
banoffee2001 3 years ago
I thought a ram jet was an enginr with no compresser on the front and instead forced the V1 forward through the air at take off to achieve the same effect..hence the rocket assisted take off to set the process in motion...Vi's were not supersonic and could be caught from behind by Mustangs..Spitfires Tempests in fact most British fighters..a small propeller cut the fuel off after a number of pre determined revolutions.
tony00165 1 year ago
@geetarwanabe Ermmmmm...Concorde had ducting to reduce the speed of the air going into the engines to well below mach1 even though it was flying at mach2...this reduction was achieved in about 12ft and was brilliant innovation by the British.....I watched a programme on it right the way through.
tony00165 1 year ago
@tony00165 i had to check my comment since it was a year ago that i posted that.. and concorde doesnt use a ramjet engine so what are you talking about? concorde has a high by-pass turbojet engine, ramjet engines are used for Mach 3-6, but you are right about one thing.. concorde was a billiant innovation by the british and french, I really wish they'd re-introduce a more efficient version for todays economy.
geetarwanabe 1 year ago
