Still thx to the horn , it still does some good work , a normal 2t only gets up to 1/2mi, the horn gets it's distance up a bit , i think .

Monroeville VFD #5 has a thunderbolt 1003 in about equally as bad condition, it hasn't been operated in years so i don't know how well it works, but the paint is chipping and the siren is rusty. do you think i should try and get my hands on it and restore it?

It has many problems. No rotator, no blower, stuck damper, bad standpipe ties, and it's not going to do much good pointed at the ground, at least at the angle it's at.

I'd get another siren to replace it, it's not even worth repairing.
