El Dorado is a great song of course but nevertheless the category was "best metal performance" and was El Dorado really heavier than Sudden Death? Was ANY of the nominated songs more badass Thrash Metal than Sudden Death with Daves and Chris' outstanding shredding solos? I guess not, but it's just my opinion as a Deth fan.
