Ference did slow down and shift his weight into halpern, it was unlucky that halpern wasnt looking and got caught in the jaw, but if you've ever played or watched hockey, you know guys bump into each other, Halpern just wasnt looking. The idea that you think we should be stripped of the cup or that Rome stepping up, taking two strides, and laying horton out is the same as this hit, ur just blind. Just wondering what Ference was supposed to do, he didn't turn, take a stride, he was just coasting up the ice in a straight line like every other D does 30 times a game. He didn't know Halpern was going to turn and run into him. Halpern looks right at him then TURNS into him. Halpern should have gotten 2 for interference.

It is obvious on the Versus feed, Halpern looked at Ference, turned his head away and skated directly into Ference's shoulder. Was he looking for a breakaway pass? He should have been paying attention to where he was skating! Did Ference brace for the hit? absolutely, because he saw it coming. Is he at fault for not avoiding the collision? @mlai68 halpern looks at him all the way til the very end then turns and gets a shoulder in the chest and ikes he was shot. Then skates away and comes back after a few minutes just like spacek did, its amazing. Wisnewski got hit on elbow with a stick and it caused his head to go through jfk assasination type stuff back and to the left. Halpern was looking for a 5 minute major to close the series bottom line

@charlytherider I didn't hear people complaining when Campbell was on the Panthers. Let me get this into your heads for all you people who still don't understand. COLIN CAMPBELL IS NOT ALLOWED TO BE INVOLVED IN DECISIONS INVOLVING THE BRUINS.
Halpern was fishing for a call, just like all the Canadiens do. Ference hardly moved. All he did was brace for contact from a player who was skating into his lane. Not even worth an interference minor.

If this was any other team but the habs I would say some sort of a fine is warranted as he does slightly move his elbow out, but with all the diving the habs did in this series who's to say this is any more legit than the Subban flop. The fact is will never know as the Canadiens have lost all creditability, respect, and honor in the NHL. It's sad to see such a great franchise take a shameful nosedive.

One of the best dives I've ever seen. Halpern skates into Ference and thinks he can dive his way into a penalty, not tonight young fella.
This year the Habs' diving finally came back to haunt them. 3 OT losses in one series. Goodbye to all the pompous Candien fans

I don't like to see any player get hurt BUT this is out of control. It looks like Halpern looks directly at Ference, like he's lining him up to hit him, and then he turns his head right before contact. This is 100% Halpern's fault. This all, by the way, coming from a Flyers fan.

i'm sorry bruins fans, you all need to look at ference's skates. it was a blindside hit, about 3 seconds away from the puck. you can say incidental contact all you want and you'd be wrong. ference clearly stops to get contact with halpert. was he aiming for the head? we cant know. but there was a headshot. the league has spoken, and really i think they did a good job by not suspending him but giving him a hearing, but its still a dirty fucking play. also, stay classy boston fans, booing him

You would set your skates too if you realized at the last second that some idiot was skating right at you, with no intention of letting up.
