  • the way he shifts gears through the waltz is amazing!!

  • I actually enjoyed that more than when he uses his full kit. He still sounds amazing. Nice job!

  • anatomy of a drum solo!

  • peart was the only one on the burning for buddy sessions who didn't play his regular set. imagine what could have been.

  • Plus .....no one writes better drum parts 4 rock songs others can only wish and dream of being Neil...o yea...ever read his lyrics?..modern poet as well!!!

  • All others r gauged by this cat.....If buddy was alive...he would admit the same...not even breaking a sweat...

  • i like the other buddy rich memorial w/ neil peart in the 90's

  • painful, awkward to wtach. note to Neil: leave big band drumming ALONE. stick with rock.

  • menom. thank for you coment. all i say that is pert is not isn't as good as you pepole make him out too be. when i watch i see stiff, no techicales, melodics, or/ane speed.

  • @jgeorgel The only think he lacks is speed and relaxation. Both mean nothing in the eyes of a musician. It's all about that sweet sound, which is something he has and many don't. Still waiting for your "better" solo video, brosepth.

  • this nel pert. i just not don't get these guy. hes playing is just not impressedive that to me. i will post vedio of myshelf doing much much better thain this pert

  • @jgeorgel FIRST OFF.................I HIGHLY suggest you LEARN the ENGLISH LANGUAGE and learn how to SPELL ABOVE a first-grade LEVEL before you attempt to go online to SPOUT your COMPLETE IGNORANCE to the world!! Nuff-SAID!!

  • you people who think they are just average drummers, and are nothing more, are wrong. they took the time and effort to learn all they could possibly learn , in order to make good music. i have been playing since i was 12 in clubs and beer joints. cant do that now. but i did. , the people thought it was cute, that a 12 yr. old could do what i did. i was doing chops that neil did when i was 15.all drummers have their own style of playing. no body is better than any one. play from your heart.

  • all i want too no is why is this good? no sped, no techincals, no musian's ship. just terabile borring dumming. bad. and overratted two.

  • this man this peart is muc much then buddt rich. who was very very overratted

  • I personally think most people think Peart is a good drummer. He has to be or he wouldn't be where he is today. What gets people ticked of is when you hear "one of the greatest, the professor,Phenom" ect. What constitutes a great drummer? Someone who can play great OUTSIDE his comfort zone.Someone who can play anything and everything. Not just the music he's familiar with.Yes Peart IS a GOOD drummer but not great. JMO

  • a) It was Rich's daughter who invited him the first time around. b) No one is Buddy Rich or claims to be as good as him, least of all Peart himself. c) While I'm not a drummer, I do appreciate someone taking a shot at something that pulls them out of their comfort zone, and it sounds pretty good. d) If you were this good, you'd have a video either on YouTube, or one that someone has pirated to show on YouTube.

  • Neil peart has no right to be at a buddy rich memorial concert. I can't believe they let this happen after last time

  • Switching to matched for the solo = :(

  • I find it amazing how he can go from playing Cotton Tail, straight into a drum solo, and then back into his signature big swing style ending. That's one of the reasons I consider him one of the greatest drummers out there. He may not look like he's a good swing style drummer, but just close your eyes and listen. It's better than you think, and the fact that he can adapt to play different styles back and forth is what makes him one of the greatest.

  • @mcjoz88 LOL.. you sound like such a mindless FAN BOY who knows fuck all...dont you realize when you gush like this you almost come across like some fucking mindless chick who wants to blow her"pop idol"?.. LMAO.he's average!!!! Get your head out of HIS ass and try to see HOW good other drummers like Mike Portnoy and Terry Bozio and others are... THIS asshole could never hold a drumstick to how good THEY are in comparison

  • @strangecluesinfriday Now who sounds like a fanboy...?

  • @stenx13 Thats where your dead wrong. THOSE two are only substantial examples(the actual list is ENDLESS).Neither are "faves of mine" in any way ONLY realistic examples of real world rivals ( of many) of the all mighty over rated Ellwood. You ASSHOLE :)

  • @strangecluesinfriday Wow! You sure have a lot of rage you're flinging at people you don't even know (especially with your use of "asshole". If Portnoy and Bozio (both excellent drummers, don't get me wrong) can do a better job, then they should be in the show. No one can deny that Peart is one of the best drummers in rock (yes, ROCK). No one is saying he's a jazz/swing drummer, not even Peart himself. He's just playing a tribute to an idol.

  • @strangecluesinfriday Also if expressing the admiration of someone's skill and talent makes them a fanboy, then we ALL are in one form or another: myself included and I'll wear that mantle proudly. It's astonishing now many haters there are. If you don't like someone's playing, don't listen.

  • @stenx13 heres a final thought.. YOUR opinions mean the same to ME as mine do to YOU.. SWEET FUCK ALL.

  • @strangecluesinfriday Who do you enjoy and think is better? Let's start there.

  • @Doriguish The drummer for PFM .. Bobby Colomby;Bill Bruford;Carl Palmer;Mike Portnoy;Alan White;Danny Seraphine;Danny Taylor (for an obscure band of the late 60s called Nucleus);Terry Bozio;Phil Collins;Chester Thompson;and about 3 dozen others.I wont reply beyond this cause i've made my point and it would only escalate into redundancy... cheers :)

  • @strangecluesinfriday Wow! So much anger. See a therapist, dude.

  • Many people say he is lost without his huge kit. Yeah, right.

  • is that jeff berlin on the bass?

  • @ak47dragunov yup.

  • amazing... but man he's gotta lose some weight

  • This is much better than his performance in the 90's

  • @buddyrichforever, If Buddy were alive, they would be very, very good friends!!! Neil respects Buddy. Buddy would respect Neil. However, Buddy may have a very tough time keeping up with Neil from an intellectual standpoint. Perhaps if he was not on coca for a minute or two.

  • I just burnt my drum kit after watching this. The kazoo always sounded nice.....

  • @sapsecurity01 buy another one and get over it.THIS over rated asshole has NEVER been as good as you mind contolled morons believe him to be.Get your head out of HIS ass and get a life of your own.

  • LOL ..i watched it again.. closely.. THIS is SO fucking AVERAGE that ANY decent drummer could this and surpase it even. YOU PEOPLE ARE TOO FUCKING MUCH.. LOL

  • @festusreptilicus hahahahaha but he plays good atleast thats the most funny thing i ever hear about peart

  • Who knew Tom Hanks was such a great drummer.

  • @rrmond Thats neil peart dude! lol The drummer from rush!

  • I'd like to think this could shut people up who say Peart hides behind his huge kit.

  • @KingZerxst Malignant Narcissism does that, he played it on a 4 piece.

  • He always looks in pain when he tries to play jazz. Very up tight. He just flat out cant swing.

  • @buddyrichforever Naw, he always looks like that. Check him out at at 4min. in. He's smiling and having fun.
