macs now days are pc,s with a diffrint os on them apple dos not make there hard ware eney more thay subcontrack compuneys to do that for them .thay miley asemble that hard wear ps when thay did make there owne it was gr8 now thay just make there owne software with is gr8
youtube should have more ways for people to communicate to each other....like this site gagla.com_ GAGLA DOT COM, it even has a webcam chat, how cool is that?
I worked on the G5 for a year doing digital arts and it is a great computer for stuff like that. but the mac OS just isn't as useful as windows. it is not capable of as many different functions as windows. they make macs for a more simple user who doesnt have any need to do more complicate functions.macs dont rly allow you access to the inner workings of the OS. they like to keep people semi ignorant so they can sell you more stuff and charge you for maintenance and service.
Mac OS X is based on UNIX, can you get any more function? Plus, OS X's foundation, Darwin, is open source, so you can do whatever you want with it... :)
As a Windows developer, I can assure you that this is not (or at least, no longer) the case. Rich APIs on both platforms allow full access to all the underlying nastiness without ever having to dig too deep into the OS. Both also have checks and barriers to prevent you from doing so (Userland).
The whole urban myth about Mac OS not allowing access to the "inner workings" is really quite inaccurate these days.
well, im not talking about the console command box, which the average user doesn't know how to use. im talking more about settings and options, and things of that nature. don't get me wrong, i currently use a g4 mac and have been for a while and love some things about OS X. but then their are some things that should be so simple to do that just cant be done, and its frustrating.
Okay, I just wanted to know what you meant by "inner workings of the OS" which I took to mean the underlying foundations. I personally don't consider the user-experience "inner workings".
If we're talking about User Experience, then that is too subjective to argue upon. Someone who cut their teeth on Mac OS (like myself) is still going to find settings and options missing in Windows -- for example, I'd kill for something as quick as Expose in Windows.
also, its not just the software aspect, hardware wise, macs make their best effort to not let 3rd party things work with their systems, and then they release the same product for a much higher price, which i think is kind of criminal. they force you into over paying for things.
I really doubt they actively hinder 3rd-party hardware support. They focus on their own products first (understandably), then start working on others with the developer's releases (so that company's may test their own hardware/software on it) and betas. It's all pretty standard, and even Microsoft do this -- they focus on their Key Partners first, and leave the RCs and Betas to handle what they don't have the time for.
for example on the g4, some apple asshole had the bright idea to make the speaker port a tiny like 16th inch port, and low and behold they graciously released a speaker set that fit juuust right. they were shitty speakers by the way. now i know you can buy a 3rd party adapter for it, but you shouldn't have to. its just gentle but forceful persuasion into buying their over priced shit.
Hmmm... well can't speak for that one as I don't have that model. My model is a 20inch iMac (one of the new ones) and I've plugged a pair of Harmon Kardons in just fine.
"Over priced shit" is a bit harsh. Apple's products are well-renowned for their quality!
well i didn't mean shit as in it sucks, i meant shit as in their stuff. i know they do make good quality stuff. i have no problem with the products they release except for the tactical extortion they use to get you in a loop of only buying their products and no one else's. like i said i use a g4 so obviously i don't hate the macs.

Perhaps in hindsight, and based on the juvenile verbal-diarrhea on this list, my informed opinion is a little out of place. :-)
