Great video & pics, beautiful countryside; must have been fantastic just to get out of the rat-race & off the beaten track for a while?! Some great little tracks & dirt roads you were on, I agree it would be great to have a mate with you to film you crossing the creeks etc but it would be good just to have some company + adds to the safety factor!
Always wanted a G S , can anybody tell me about the maintenance costs of these bikes? I heard they are through the roof like first scheduled maintenance 750 dollars , Man this is a German built bike , and valves should not have to be adjusted every few thousand miles, I don't mind spending money on a bike and do maintenance, regularly , but to spend hundreds every-time is brought to the shop is inconceivable. Can someone dispel these rumors please cause I really want one . thanks
Totally cool ride. Us to ride street bikes. Got an enduro. 650 Honda. Bmw will be next bike. I detest riding street now. My G/F told me to either get a street bike again, so she could ride on the back, or shes outta here. Sure am going to miss her!
Thanks. Ha - tell your GF to get an enduro and ride along with you! The GS1200 is great for gear capacity, but it's huge! I'd go with the FS800 if I did it again. Check out my Utah Video for some better camera angles and scenery -
I had a BMW R1200C for a few years before itching to get off-road. I'll never look back! 90% of the world's roads are dirt. So much more fun to explore!
Check out my Utah Motorcycle Adventure video for much better camera angles and production value. thanks!
I'm moving to Chicago from New Zealand soon, and I'll be looking for riding buddies too (once I get a bike again). I hope it's not as difficult as your describing!
Very impressive trip. That trip exudes manly-ness. I wonder how the heck you figured out that route and didn't get lost?!?!? I so want to make a trip like that now. Thanks for the video.
Great video, and fantastic trip well done.

Half the work is plotting the route. You happen to have GPS tracks you'd be willing to share? Looks like an incredible weekend ride.

GS 1200 ADV - expencive parts, powerless and very heavy for off road I drive it for 2 years with 28.000km...
This year I bought KTM 990 ADV and KTM is much better bike for everyting.

What an awesome adventure! I was looking at that bike just last week, thinking I'm gonna ditch the Harley and rather get me one like this!
Dunno if you've done it already, but you ought to mount the camera somewhere, like on your side cargo baxes, for a smooth, great view.

Harley sucks......to much sound and cc. for much less horsepower
This beaty of the videos is the queen of the bikes right now and haves 2 versions
One with 95CV and otherone with 106CV

Try BMWMOA or BMW Xplor, or just local clubs

Wow! Can it be any better way to spend a weekend? You've really inspired me with this video! Thank you!
I have a Derbi Terra 125 myself! I just became a biker, but the GS 1200 ADV is my dream bike! My uncle has it!

Nice video thanks.
Good to see somebody who understands what this bike is designed and best for as long raids, not strictly 'offroad'.
Can do trails but quick driving on open roads as well.
Good choice of bike and itinerary!

Hey fella,
great video, sweet views, and of course the star of the show, The R 1200 GS adventure looks SWEET
maybe try some stationary video camera shots on a tripod with a drive by and the like or a helmut mounted video camera.
