You have to learn foundations in order to manifest your own flavor. You can't just learn the dance by mimicking his movements. Since Mike's style is popping ask someone in that sort of field to teach you the foundations. Once you learn the basics to popping, you can create your own shit rather than copying someone else. You feel me? Ask Slick Dogg to help you, he's an OG in this sort of field. He'll tell you what you need to know. His youtube account is "waves".

Don't worry, it will come naturally when you learn foundations to a particular style. You're trippin, chillax and ask someone to help guide you from the beginning. Don't skip to the advanced levels, things will get messy.

Being original doesn't mean you have to create a new technique. It just means you put your own flavor into it. For example, look at the difference between Pacman's wave and Mr. Fantastic's wave. They're both waving but they do it on different rhythm and angles. I recommend listening to the music and grooving to it. Once you get the feel of it, start popping and waving to the rhythm. you can even tut on rhythm. Watch Jr. Boogaloo's tuts, he does everything on beat, and it looks groovy.
