She actually doesn't remind me of anyone. She is Jordyn, like Shawn is Shawn and Nastia is Nastia. I don't like comparing people because there's things she does that they don't and vice-versa. She's a great gymnast who just won World AA Title, so she is a amazing by herself (:
Tim didn't care about the step on landing but the way she landed !!! Dangerous position, she could have injured herself like Mustafina just did !!! Tim dagget is not the best announcer, I think he is terrible, but for once he made a smart comment.....
the announcer made it seem like the landing on the vault was terrible! shutup announcer..really. awesome vault but has anyone noticed that in this vid her left nostril (our right) looks messed up? haha for real!
Sorry to say- I'm not a fan of the 2 1/2 twister. It's just asking for injury - and I miss the days of simpler gymnastics with STUCK landings! I can't imagine anyone sticking this type of vault regularly.
@spartyutube i know, i definitely agree. i'm sick of the focus on power and constantly pushing the envelope because then grace and artistry is sacrificed.
shes young, her legs can take those kinds of landings. but once she grows up, its going to be so hard to avoid injuries esp since shes been doing those skills for way too long, having started so young.
also her skills are more than up to standard but her form really needs some work.
She really needs to water down her routines. What I mean is that, I'm sure Shawn Johnson could do an Amanar or a double double layout when she was 13, but shes smart enough to wait a few years before she tires herself out.
I think she is way to young for a vault like this, I mean she is obviously capable but why throw a vault like this earlier on and risk injury that could potentially halt a career short? I would rather see her do a DTY, perfectly which I think she can, than this. She should wait a few more years down the line, closer to London, to perfect the Amanar.
Exactly what I thought when I saw all her performances:) In a few years time I see her doing a double twisting back on floor, a full twisting double back dismount from beam, just like Shawn lol
I don't see anything wrong with that landing, doing one of the most difficult vaults in the world every girl I have ever seen do it takes big wobbles, also she should try for a triple, she has the extra momentum no doubt.
Okay, I know that it's a hard vault and all, but it is untrue that everyone takes big wobbles. For instance, in vault finals in 2004 and 2008, Monica Rosu and Cheng Fei had either a TINY hop (rosu) or stuck it (Cheng).
yes the bars dismount is rarer, and so is the standing full, but many gynmasts perform the 2.5 twist on vault and about every other gymanst does a full in.
if she has the power to do skills that hard, why not?
its was a little off on the landing... sometimes landing go wrong... doesn't mean she isn't ready to do it cause she obviously is... these coaches don't put kids on the floor to do skills they aren't ready for
shes not ready for that vault shes gonna snap that ankle in half one day she should wait 2 years until she competes it again. shawn johnson I bet she could have done the vault at a younger age but she waited until 15 because thats when she was 100% confident in the vault
she isnt shawn. she will never be shawn. shuddup about shawn on JORDYN videos. thats Jordyn Wieber. Not Shawn Johnson. SO if you want to talk about Shawn TALK ABOUT HER ON SHAWN VIDS! please. i hate seeing shawns name on jordyns vids. i dont like shawn, i like Jordyn. and its not just this video every vid i see of jordyn u have shawns name in ur comment. stoppit. im gonna go on shawn vids and talk about Jordyn...
the thing about training this hard and doing all this difficulty is, if you jack up just a little like she did here, shes lucky she didnt blow her ankle out, its so easy to get hurt, and its so likely that could happen at olympic trials and all your work is for nothing, and thats why i am quitting!
a year ago at my regionals meet in michigan, her gym hosted the meet and jordyn and cameron walked right by me and looked at me! ii was like freaking out haha it was cool, they werent as short as i thought they would be haha but they were VERY muscular!
Though she did it reasonably well, it is much easier to acquire new skills rather than maintain them. If she can continue to do this vault well, then it may not have been a bad choice. But he (and her coaches) run the risk of it taking its toll on her body, and then her burning out from all the big skills.
I don't know why she is already doing an amanar. It doesn't seem smart on her coaches part. She is only 13,have her do a clean double then she can focus on competing the amanar in a few years. It seems like her coaches are trying to make her into Shawn Johnson, because she competes a lot of her skills, and I don't think she is ready for them yet. I'm not doubting her talent, just wondering why she doesn't compete a bit less difficult skills that she can hit cleaner.
I feel the same way, it definetly seems like her coaches are trying to make her Shawn. She's talented but she'll never be Shawn. I totally agree with what you're saying!!!
I agree with you. If she is able to throw them at this moment she will be less scared doing those in the future. Still, coaches should not push very far yet. It is OK to throw hard skills sometimes, but all the time in order to protect the gymnast and avoid risk injury.
Me too. I hate comparisons but you cannot avoid them. I HOPE this girl won't burn in the following years. How many stories have we seen like those? She is not even eligible for worlds until 2011 or 2012! Too much hype usually ends up badly...
what's that supposed to mean? of course she gained some because she took time off from hardcore olympic training. all the other girls rounded out a bit too. did you see nastia at the skating and gymnastics spectacular? she looked so healthy, you know, less skinny. and that's not a bad thing.
@espinaca79 I agree, they hyped up McCool too and she couldn't handle the pressure, I wish they'd let these girls develop and improve without all the obvious pressure of comparing them to the greats.
Congratulations on your sister's win. She did awesome and is a new favourite of mine for the American team (I'm English). Is she big sis or baby sis btw? :)
