  • love the video man

  • This is a great video

  • I have heard that iUniverse owns Barnes & Noble?

  • Thank you guys for sharing your experience. I found answer for my question.

I wish you all the best.

  • never again will I publish my book through a publisher, in 2011 35 million ipads will be sold, that is 35 million people just eager to read a book on ibookstore, think about it!!

  • So, what you are saying is that every whore should have a pimp?

    NEWS FLASH: PRINT IS DEAD!

  • @WetlandsRemediation Agreed! I will bet within five years half of all books will be on Kindle or some sort of eBook.

  • Thanks for this guys. Aside from the advantages vs. disadvantages of self-publishing, do you find there's some kind of bias toward fiction or non-fiction when it comes to self-publishing.

  • Yes - there has been a huge shift in opinion - and things have changed even more since you guys made this video. Go indie publishers!

  • @Jude2Mahoney I'm planning to self publish a very controversial book. I have a few questions. If I want to put it on as an ebook, which is the most trustworthy ebook site I can put it on? I've heard that if you print on demand, the cost of printing each book can be more than selling the book. Is that true? Also, if I want to engage the speaking tactic, then how do I get speaking engagements and the audience?

  • Very interesting points. I enjoyed your video.

  • hopefully your books are more interesting than you guys are

  • I don't understand why people think that they can't do both. You don't want to sit on your hands waiting for a reply back from all your query letters, and yet you don't want to break the bank by trying to push your own work. Don't put your fate in other peoples hands yet don't be unwilling to accept help. Honestly, you'd have to be an idiot no to take advantage of the internet in some way to market an sell your book as an ebook.

  • @SolidSnake032486 Spot on mate. This is exactly the strategy Im about to employ. I'm self publishing, and limiting the risk financially by selling via e-book and print on demand, whilst using as many marketing options I can to maximise the sales. I need to sell 100 books to recoup the losses I'll incur for having the book designed professionally, but I hope that's do-able. Anymore on top, is profit. :)

  • I started speaking first, then went the self-publish route... it's easier to sell an ebook to people who've already paid over 1,000 for a 30-60 minute talk. Thank you for these videos and I agree with your "have a platform" point.

  • @webmindset Fantastic idea, I'm also hoping to employ the speaking tactic. Do you mind me asking what it is you've written about? Thanks.

  • @Jude2Mahoney Thanks for the kudos. I've written about many things, but the self-published piece is called "The Social Media Equation" and focuses on helping business owners and managers get the team involved for greater buy-in. It's a cool gig.

  • @webmindset Mmm, sounds wonderful. I expect the "being your own boss" and having the chance to help others must be particularly rewarding, as well as getting paid for it. ;)

  • Audio quality + tune of voice need some work .. i lost focus in the middle of the video .. then wnt back and listened again .. and am glad i did :)

  • my poetry book is getting published with authorhouse who is self published and it will be in barns and nobles but good points

  • @quicksand198989

What will be the name of your book? I'm Curious.

  • @ripopentheuniverse hidden in despair

  • I am currenlty searching for a publisher. This is my first book and am finding that the big box publishers are not wanting to read a manuscript from an unknown author. I am thinking about self publishing. what pointers can you give me?

  • @whitehorsekds You should consider first The "Self-Publishing Advantages and Disadvantages" and weighing the benefits against the potential drawbacks. Do a lot of research and find the answer.

  • I agree with all of what you are both are saying

  • the 4 hour workweek!! awesome!

  • Superb video - I agree (and I'm a publisher).
