  • ONE OF THE FEW GROUPS THAT DID NOT NEED MUSIC TO SING

  • one of the best country groups EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Calamity Jane South Dakota Wine!

  • One of my all-time favourite songs. Anyone who has shaken the hand of Johnny Walker, however seriously, will find some resonance in the words.

  • I can remember my father, who passed recently, singing this song to me when I was a little girl. He loved it. Even now it makes me think of him. He instilled in me a love of old music, and oldies, that sticks with me to this day. I grew up on Golden Oldies, the Gatlin Brothers, Neil Sedaka, CCR, Alabama... you name it, I know it and love it. Not to say I don't love more recent music. I love music for music's sake. He had them -all- on 8-track. >_> And his 8-track player worked.

  • I remember the HUGE outcry of protest years ago when WGN-AM station management (in Chicago) barred Bob Collins from playing this song on the air. The then-program director (and, I think, the station manager as well) felt that this song encouraged alcoholism by "glamorizing" it. Far from it!!!!!! It's a very powerful song, and thank you for sharing it with us!!!!!!

  • I'd like to see a live recording of this..... sounds like it was fun!

  • I love this song. Now we just need "She Used to Sing on Sunday".

  • Damn fine song

  • Another masterpiece from the living legend of Larry Wayne Gatlin....a great song that was misunderstood or misinterpreted when it first came out. This is REAL country music, a hundred times more soulful and real than anything on the charts today.

  • Brother Charlies Mission at the corner of Woodlawn and Beech, Tifton ga

  • This song is so truthful and sung so beautifully. Yet it nearly cost them their bible belt audience. Radio stations stopped playing it. The religious right burned their tapes, CDs saying it was sacrilege. Get over it folks it's a story, just a song, a tounge in cheek attemp at making light about what's considered a serious subject by the bible thumpers. The hook line..."will there be Mogen David in heaven etc... Sorry thumpers but that's how winos think.

  • @prebert The religious right are in for a rude awakening should they arrive in Heaven. They just may be greeted by some of us who spent time inside the bottle but are now free of it. There but for the grace of God......

  • This is a great song...story.
