What disturbs me about this is that she's saying "it's okay to marry a non-muslim because of this interpretation of the quran", rather than "it's okay to marry a non-muslim, because it doesn't matter what the quran says and you're free people with inalienable human rights and you can do whatever the fuck you want if you're not impinging on anyone else's rights."
So does this mean that if another imam comes up with a more solid interpretation that dismisses this one, is it then not okay?

It seems to me that the cage is simply being reshaped to fit what is desired, rather than simply disposing of the cage altogether. Why not just let the individual decide what is right for themselves based on their own conscience? Why does this medieval book have to be promoted as a superior authroity over the individuals human fucking rights? A comfortable prison is still a prison. It seems like an attempt to create the affectation of freedom without the substance.

You have the right to impose as many restrictions on yourself as you want. I believe in freedom, and that includes the freedom to do whatever you want to yourself. I'll continue to argue against it of course, as you are free to argue your point.
I'm also curious about whether you feel that it is right to impose these rules on others (including your children). If not, then we are mostly in agreement.

Islam is a religion that is easy to follow, if your brain dead. Religion for the most part consists of people who can't deal with everyday life and for some reason think they actually deserve an explanation. Try real hard to think for yourself. The 85.7% in Church of Norway is probably true. You are born as a member of the state church, and because religion really don't mean that much here, most people don't bother with cancelling that membership. You still have to pay the church tax.
And all those other countries you listed are communist countries. Just because they ban all religion, that does not make them atheist countries, because communism, as I said above, is just another form of religion, where the head of state is their God.

Ok, atheists do not kill in the name of Atheism. People who happen to be atheists and kill, usually do so in the name of some other ideology, like communism for instance, which is basically a secular religion.
When it comes to an atheist country, it dependps on your definition. You could call USA an atheist country because there's supposed to a separation of church and state, but no one would do that for obvious reasons.

Then you have the scandinavian countries where you have a state church, but the vast majority of the population is atheist (70-80%. And probably closer to 90% if you only look at people under the age of 30). These countries are probably the safest countries in the world when it comes to crime, disease, poverty etc. (Also, as a bonus, very few natural disasters, which I'm pretty grateful for as well :) ).
