This song stinks........................Only joking, it's brill, just wanted to get your attention!! LOL. Go and listen to STANLOW, just as moving and just as good.....................I 1st went to see OMD at the Royal Court in Liverpool in 1982/3...............amazing to see a band on their way up and somehow knowing they were going somewhere. Also seen them support China Crisis in the 90's and guess who got the most applause.....................yep, OMD!!!!
Thank you, that's very kind. I was born in Germany and lived there for several years, I would reply to you in German but my German is pretty rusty at the moment. Maybe I'll get some practice on YouTube.
Saw OMD at the IndigO2 on 20th July. I knew they were going to perform Architecture and Morality in its entirety, but actually hearing it, especially beautiful Sealand, blew me away. I wanted to wrap them up in my arms and take them home so they could play their gorgeous music to me FOREVER. I've been a fan for 28 years and never tire of hearing them.
Early OMD is, IMHO, the most under-rated music in the last forty years or so.."Dazzle Ships" is a flat-out masterpiece, and "Sealand" from A+M packs an emotional punch that I hope gets re-discovered over and over again by future music lovers
OMG! You have just said what I have believed for so many many years. God I hope your right, if Radiohead did Dazzle Ships everyone would said holy shit, how brave, how radical, but OMD does it and it dombs. Time will come:) Loved your comment:)
I'm a newbie to YouTube and am so pleased to see so many OMD fans on here. I too love Dazzle Ships. It wasn't commercial enough to be a mainstream hit but in an era drowning in acts better known for their haircuts and suits than their music, it was a revelation. OMD's early work was by far their best and yes, they were, and still are, criminally underrated.
Now that would be fantastic. It's one of my favourite albums and I listen to it frequently. I would particularly love to hear Stanlow and Second Thought played live and also their cover of The More I See You.
I saw OMD at Southend on 10th June. My wife and I were betting on what they would open with and were both suprised when they opened with Sealand! They also played virtually the whole A&M set as well as lots of their greatest hits. An absolutely superb concert!!
I think I've cum....
