With a q8300 (4x2.5Ghz), 4GB of ram and GTS250 could i play wow on max settings with max res...how much fps without fraps min. and max. and how much in dalaran??? its important it depends if i'm gonna buy that config...
Ok so WoW is the only pc game i currently play, i was thinking about getting this video card, but heres my question. I have 2gb of DDR3200, and a 939 AMD Athlon 4800+ (OC'ed to 2.7GHz) Is it possible to get decent fps (40fps+) with all that stuff with settings on Ultra? thanks in advance
This benchmark video doesnt do any justice... Your inside, and the draw distance for all the shaders and the textures is minimal hence the large FPS... you need to be outdoors or in a busy town centre to get a realistic test.
@znoozaros the draw distance is cpu intensive hence my post. Also the GPU's shader speed would be taken into account. This video does no justice for a benchmark
@lightningpete Yes, I can ultra view distance with my crappy x1250, there's a really high chance I'll be bringing back a GTS250 for my system tommorow, if maplin don't have any 5770's in stock..
I really hope the best card they got is at least 4850 equivilent +
@LookanIndian dont talk crap. He has a triple core clocked above the recommended allowance of WOW.... He wont have any problems at all with his setup..
ehh benchmark for world of warcraft? thats just stupid. An 8400 GS laptop card can play this game on full without AA/AF. @1650x1080. So whats the point?
@bajeatu11 tough game? what in terms of graphics? Hmm... i think you wow'ers need to go and get some harder games.... ARMA2, Crysis, Crysis:Warhead... then you'll see whats tough. And again an 8400GS on a laptop will be ample even for raids, my brother used his old laptop to do so, and it worked fine, he capped his FPS and turned on triple buffering etc and turned down the draw distance a little bit, but most settings remained high. He had an average FPS of 31, and a minimum of 17.
@lightningpete and for the sakes of 17 FPS in a couple of raids is hardly a killer, especially with a ping of less than 50ms near constantly.
The point is, the game is playable on lower hardware, wow did this intentionally to attract more customers. You will find that most people playing wow will actually have low end graphics cards and low-mid range cpu's
in ultra settings?

@lightningpete being in a town centre would only test the cpu...

@lightningpete yes i agree... but when u suggested to go into a city it only takes a lot of cpu power because of all the people in there

@LookanIndian I have a AMD Athlon ll x3 440 @ 3GHz
It's not a bad CPU AT ALL!!!!
in fact, it's extremely fast for the price also you can unlock a 4th core if your motherboard supports it

@lightningpete It's true, I had ridiculous frames on my 8400GS with a crappy Pentium D 820
but things have changed now.. sunshafts greater view distance and liquids and shadows.. 8400gs is far from maxing WoW
ivansegos 1 year ago
if you wanna see how good the card is. Run through dalaran to see. I know even good cards drop fps but it should be at least fluent.

I have HD 5870 and i'm getting ~30fps in dala so GPU alone ain't rly helping in dala
znoozaros 1 year ago
What's your processor?
That's probably why you suffer significant FPS drop w/ Fraps.
