Shinkada, you are an idiot. No character can completely lockdown anyone. This is GG we have IB, SB, DAAs, and BURSTs to escape pressure. Granted you won't always have BURST, or 50% tension, but, that's why you use your BURST and manage tension wisely. Eddie is not that broken in AC, he has mostly 6-4 matches a few 5.5-4.5 matches, a maybe 2 or 3 5-5s. He's very beatable. It's not like he's 3S Chun who's fuckin 7-3 or 8-2 with anybody mid-tier and below.
Eddie can lock you down for about 20-25 hits, half of which will either be high or low. It takes around 20 minutes to memorize this input, and it will beat anyone who hasn't been playing long enough to block the mixup, which will be anyone who's been playing at a tournament level for less than about a year.
LOLOL. So your reasoning is if a pro can squash a newb with a character, that character = broken?
Venom's pressure is ridiculous, someone who's never fought a strong Venom would suffer the same fate.. All that means is you gotta keep playing, keep learning and STEP YOUR GAME UP. No different than any other fighting game.
Doesn't change the fact that they're ridiculous. The goal of a crossup is to be as close to directly above the opponent as possible... This means even the USER doesn't know which direction they're attacking from. Hit or guard is pure 50/50.
And I don't remember Chipp having that many. Thought he only had one or two moves he could do it with.
Chipp can FRC his teleport, which makes for very interesting cross-ups. I can't remember the link for that match but Eddie got crossed 4 times in quick succession.
Remember that cross-up is only one way to raid the opponents life bar. Grabs, quick high low mix-ups, or even air-grab during mid-air recovery.
Just pick Jam if you don't like being hit from behind. =p
Grabs I don't mind so much, usually, since you can break them if you see them coming. Mixups are usually predictable, and aerial grabs you can break too, or just be more selective in teching. Crossups, the best you can do is try to jump into them then break the inevitable air-grapple.
My beef isn't with getting hit from behind. That's fine. It's when you get hit as close as possible to above that shits me.
Uh, the person doing the crossup knows whether or not they will, and guessing happens to be a part of EVERY GAME. Crossups aren't hard to block unless you are a complete and utter scrub
Depends on the crossup. With slow projectiles or hits that have a hitbox directly down? No, the user doesn't know which direction they're hitting from. =/
Crossups and mixups are intentional to the game where you've let yourself fall disadvantage to the other play. Millia's basic wakeup game is 50/50. You really don't understand this game at all.
No shit. Half the dumb shit tourneyfags do in this game is 50/50. That's why I don't fucking do it, and if I don't do it then I don't see why others can't as well except for some 5-year-old mentality of having to win to verify their pathetic lives.
If that shit bothers you, you should play DOA. There is like nothing that puts you at disadvantage in that game other than having your back to a wall...
Anyway. The point is, I don't play GG purely to win. And I do get a BIT pissed when people use it on me, but for the most part, I don't care. I have fun playing mindgames, outmaneuvering people with pure strategy and reflexes, AND still being able to play against my friends because I haven't pre-programmed myself to do whatever it takes to win. Having someone in the corner for 40 seconds isn't fun. Dunno how you guys can think it is, but whatever.
You realize the point of the game is to win right? I mean yes, it's a game and game's are supposed to be fun. But the objective of the game is to defeat the opponent and win the round / match. What does this have to do with 'verifying' someone's life?
Would you go to a basket ball game and tell a team to stop shooting 3 pointers because it is cheap? If the other team cannot defend 3 pointers, what team would not just keep doing this?
Playing to win is part of competition. Competition is fun.
Competition is fun. That's why I enter tourneys. Being held in a corner for 3 rounds, or indeed holding someone in the corner for 3 rounds, is not what I call fun. It's what I call being a prick. I'd compare this more to taking steroids in a street game myself. There's nothing to win except 'cred' and you're alienating about 75% of the potential competition by being a douchebag.
tldr; Long version short: You suck at this game and you should find something else better to do with your life except sit here and prove how much you suck at this game.
Tourneyfags? This is a game which EMBRACES and RELIES on competitive play. The developers released #R, Slash, and ^C primarily to balance the gameplay. Crossups are major design considerations for Chipp and Millia. It seems you think that playing this game competitively means you're a fag. "If I don't do it"... your way isn't the only way. You're pathetic for thinking that it is childish to be competitive. I'm sure Olympic athletes were immature for verifying their lives through competition.
And I've constantly had you reply with ridiculous arguments about how it's fair for someone who can completely lock-down the field with up to four traps be able to do as much damage as, say, Sol, who can't do anything other than run at the opponent/wait for them to run at him then hit them.
No, I think it's childish to not care about actually having fun. If this was something like SBO I wouldn't care because there's actual MONEY up for grabs. 'Competetive Japanese arcades'? You weeaboo. Competetive for what? Honour? Yeah, we all know how good the Japs are with that.
Last I checked there wasn't any sport in the olympics that allowed you to summon a stupid little shadow and keep your opponent unable to do absolutely anything for as long as it's out.
Competition and having fun aren't mutually exclusive. It doesn't matter what the event is (sprinting or swimming or summoning a stupid little shadow). It's silly to draw distinctions between competitive events in that manner when the spirit of competition is there.
Calling me a weaboo because you really do post stupid shit about Japanese matches? You're fucking racist, assuming that I'm only defending Japanese people and implying that the Japanese have no honour.
Which character do you play? You should upload some of your matches. I'd like to see a REAL player, instead of these clowns who satisfy the purpose of fighting games by playing to win.
And I'll try my best not to be condescending in return.
When I refer to crossups, I generally mean either ones involving slow projectiles, or ones involving moves DIRECTLY above the opponent. Dizzy and Venom are perfect examples. Venom drops a ball, most likely when the opponent is on the ground, then hits it with a light attack to make it go very slowly. After a pause (or another pool ball shot) he runs up to the opponent, jumps over them, and airdashes, passing over them the INSTANT...
... the pool ball hits. He doesn't know whether he's going to be on the left or right of the opponent when the ball hits, because he's aiming to be as close to directly above as possible. The opponent obviously doesn't know which way either, provided the Venom player has some semblance of timing. Do you hold left or right to guard? It's 100% chance.
So you're complaining because you don't know how to block? At least you have a change to block those, complain about something more viable like Eddie's UNBLOCKABLES
Now I wanna play Axl again. I was pretty good with him in the first GGX2.

I've seen this Shinkada guy posting in many match videos.
In every one of those posts, it's pretty much complaining about things no one would a functioning brain would complain about.

Then again, I've constantly seen Shinkada post similar comments on videos which were recorded by people playing in competitive Japanese arcades.
Maybe you should stop watching videos of a game that strives from such a community if you're against it.

Which is why Testament has been worse than Sol in 3 iterations of the game, despite the basic design ethos of both characters not changing at all.
