  • hes like, yepp... i just blow this put..fixed.

  • @shess0501

It did. Fires like that, while not common, aren't really a big deal. Once the engine starts it get blown out and everything is fine.

  • hot start !

    Am'i right ????

  • Humorously, there was an ad for the new Blackberry Torch at the bottom of the screen...

  • I saw him race today!!!

  • @gonets13 were u at the red bull airrace new york?

  • thats exactly what your suppose to do in the event of an engine fire on startup. Keep cranking and draw the fire back into the engine where combustion is controlled.

  • @Aviator1111 i did not know that

  • and O stands for opposed ;)

  • Most use the lycoming IO 540, I stands for Injected

  • little too much fuel in the stack huh?

  • Stack fire, big deal, quick way to cure fresh paint.

  • Too many primer shots. Noob mistake.

  • overprimed. simple as that.

  • Extra 300L, S, D, Z, and Edge 540A, D, and F all have fuel injection.

    Fuel injection is practically encouraged

  • fuel injected engines dont have carburettors

  • descriprion says rio de janeiro but video says adu dhabi

  • That's a typo. Changed it. Thanks!

  • you mean Abu Dhabi???

  • It's not oil catching fire, it's the fuel. He did the standard technique which is to rev the engine up. It actually puts the fire out.

  • he continued with the startup. if he were to have stopped, the fire would have been sucked back into the carburator and would've ended fatally

  • No, continuing to crank the engine will suck the fire into the fuel injector servo and extinguish it which is a good thing. If he stopped cranking, the plane would have continued to burn.

  • But, this is a fire coming out of the exhaust and not the intake, so starting the engine just blew the fire out, either way, he did the right thing

  • it cause of the choke on the plane with overloads the cylinders with fuel to make sure it fires up first time , it just excess fuell burning,

  • Fuel injected - no choke

  • fuel injected is done by pressure valves

and yes there is still a choke , allways has

  • A choke on fuel injectors?

I'll inform Mike next time I talk to him.........

    This is cute.

  • yup :)

    who mike ? :S

  • Goulian

  • Looks like residual smoke oil catching fire. As long as the engine catches the prop should blow out the fire and clear the oil.

  • Hehe once the guy notices the fire the plane decides to stop flaming ;) Caught in the act.

  • Nice firefighting technique
