I couldn't stand Etain Tur-Mukan. She got on my last nerve with her soap opera persona. I was hoping this series would end with Anakin mistaking her for a Jedi, then striking her down in front of Darman and the other Omega Squad members (including Kal Skirata). In which case they would attempt in vain to kill Anakin, only to be killed. But yeah, over all it was a good book.

thanks for agreeing. it's like everyone is a fan of these republic commando novels. you might even become a friend of mine just for agreeing that these books just don't live up to the title of star wars (unlike the new jedi order, the darth bane duology and anything james luceno wrote).

I was very disappointed with this book...I'm a huge SW fan but it was very hard for me to stay interested in this story...I only finished it because I hoped it would get better or at least shed some new info on the storyline..it' did neither unfortunately. I had high hopes for this book, it had a great idea but it never came close to fleshing it out... I'd recommend skipping this book all together..

...And the rest occurs as it was with Kal and the others coming back to Mandalore with Dr. Uthan preparing a clone cure, and all that.  There. That's how it could have been like. But I think that the way Etain died and the way Darman and Niner were recruited was still good nevertheless. My point is, this book could have been better, that's all I'm saying.

...A couple extra months wouldn't have made much of a difference. As for Darman and Niner when they became Imperial Commandos in what really happened, I'd say that Vader would spare Darman and Niner because since Vader was Anakin Skywalker and lost Padmé Amidala, he'd know what Darman felt with his loss of Etain, capture Darman and Niner and use some new tech to erase their memories so they can become stormtroops but their minds come back in the Imperial Commando sequels, and the rest...

Still, I think this book could have done better. If Order 66 was the title, then it shouldn't have felt like the book spoiled its own ending before you read it at the last 100-50 pages! Order 66 should have happened a quarter or halfway through the novel, and after that, have the remainder of the novel happen a few months later with Omega Squad protecting Etain and she dies in a lightsaber duel against Darth Vader! The book takes in a course of two years, a couple extra months wouldn't...

Now, I'm not saying that a lot of character in a book is bad. It's good actually. And when I read True Colors, I expected to have a certain lack of action, and I saw it was actually better than I expected. Then Order 66 came, and I saw that Karen Traviss just had way too much character in her book for the characters that I felt that I could have just come in and shoot 'em all dead myself (except for Delta Squad, I couldn't agree with Scorch about Omega being a whiny bunch early in the book).

Yeah this book had alot to do with morals and the mind more than physical action.

BUT remember this is ORDER 66 when the Jedi generals were all killed by clone commanders they had known and trusted. So I think it was OK for her to make this book not so action packed.

You know, I sort of have a few problems with the Republic Commando novel series. First off, Hard Contact was good because it divided action and character modestly, something like any Star Wars book post New Jedi Order (I've read a few of the '90s books, even the Thrawn trilogy, and they seemed to be lagging in plot and action). But when Triple Zero came out, I was disappointed. There was a little bit more character in the book than usual, and it should have had more action.
