Gerry, this is an intentional technique: a subset of "Cinema Verite" (French) called "Suivez l'oeil," which I believe translates to "follow the eye" -- essentially, the camera lens replicates the human "lens" of the observer's eye and attempts to track all the motion thereof.

A little of that goes a long way. Maybe the French like that style but I found it hard to watch.

Chris,good reporting but PLEASE next time you shoot a movie, DONT WAVE THE CAMERA AROUND LIKE A GARDEN HOSE, I felt seasick watching it.
