Maybe Stipe should have left the song alone, maybe not. But Katrina hit in late '05, and Stipe wanted to help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina, so he decided to release an EP, with ALL proceeds going directly to Mercy Corps, a humanitarian agency which provided substantial aid to the victims of Katrina. Arthur was a willing participant, and sang on the EP. So, yeah, maybe people should just leave awesome songs alone, but I'm glad Michael Stipe didn't.
