Whats really wierd is when i was at pitville pool in cheltenham, me and my mum were outside in the car park waiting for my bro to come out, and i saw this man walk past and i dunno wheather it was sam callis, either it was him or a perfect look - a - like lol i was like :O, he was wearing shorts lol sexy ;)
The Bill started off in the mid 1980s as a weekly drama series. That's when it used to be i)politically incorrect, i.e., true to life, ii)well-acted, iii)worth watching.
Thats a good thing, its funny to look back to when the Bill first started and u see how it was all just white males with only one or two exceptions.
Besides females make up 50% of the population and there aint many minorities in it. Especially as its meant to be in London where half the population is a minority.
You tit. The show should reflect the ethic and gender make-up of London's police, not the wider population. Or is that concept beyond your intellectual ken?
minorities are under represented in our police force and thats a troubling thing, i think having minorities in positive roles like police officers in such shows is a good thing.
Besides the Bill isnt meant to be completly realistic, not many police stations have been blown up by suicide bombers and had major disasters like it has.
Having a couple of blacks in a tv show isnt political correctness gone mad. PC is things like morons trying to do away with the name christmas or ban flags
Yeah, it's really troubling, Keeps me awake nights. Also wondering why there are Chinese people are the invisible minority on BBC screens or why there'll be no Asians in the 100m finals in Beijing. Or why blacks have average IQs of 85. Mystifying.
It is political correctness and you identified the reason yourself: 'having minorities in positive roles like police officers in such shows is a good thing.' It would only be non-PC if the producers' motivation was a commercial one, viz., that a more diverse cast increased viewing figures.
well that non pc reason sounds like a good example to me. How do you know that wasnt part of their reason for making such selections.
I remember they had an australian police officer in the show which made him and the show more popular there.
A company choosing to do something you see as "politically correct" i dont have a problem with. If the government ordered the broadcaster to include more minorities in it then yes that is political correctness and yes id have a problem with it.
Governments don't have to directly order things for them to be PC, but on the subject of government influence over media, I suspect that the terms of the ITV franchises include the usual PC bromdies. With respect to the state-funded BBC, we know that a commitment to all things PC and multicultural are at the core of its agenda.
posted the day before my birthday & 2 days before Simon bakers -- just a little fact for you all!! xxx :)

A cop with white hair? Will Tony ever get promoted?
JasonRadley 3 years ago
You don't just 'get promoted' in the Police. You have to study for a pretty tough exam, which not many cops pass..
