  • This was far and away their best single. And considering their vast and impressive repertoire, that's saying a lot. God bless Ira Tucker. He is greatly missed.

  • Praise The Lord, If You can get BAD STORM by the Sensational Nightinagales. You will be the baddest dude in the music business. I been looking for that song...............................

  • dats my great grandpa the 2nd to the left he can still sing today is crazy reppin Philly all day

  • My mother, Alic Parker Kelliebrew, used to sponsor church fundraisers promoting Gospel show. After the church program half the church along with whatever group she had booked would come to our house for a homemade meal. Sometimes a hundred or more people and Mom always had leftovers!! What a treasure to be able to see and hear these guys at anytime. My Mom is getting quite ill with dementia, but she lights up when I play these old clips for her. Thanks for posting and God bless.

  • I enjoyed reading your graph about the H.birds. Iam a fan now 4 about 9 yrs. I wish I new about them sooner. Ageless endurance on the harmony and vocals. Im sure a many have been turned 2ward Jesus by the messages in song. Ira is Awsome.

  • Great story!! When I read about how there were leftovers, what came to my mind was when Jesus fed the 5000. Sorry about the dementia, but it is also neat that even in that, that these clips lift her spirits!

  • These were some bad cats....I grew up on this music. Praise God.

  • Just returned from Memphis and have been listening nonstop to the gospel, I first heard at the Stax museum, but anything I can get my hands on. The power of faith can be intoxicating.

  • I grew with Love Me like A Rock and this one! Never will there be another voice like Ira Tucker. Just found out he passed away, R I P my brother! Tell my saviour and my Mom that I'm on my way!!!

  • Ira Tucker R I P

  • None better than Ira Tucker and the "Birds". This was my dad and uncles' favorite gospel lead singer and gospel group-my all time favorite group. My brothers, cousins and I grew up singing their music. Had to have everything they recorded. Saw them first in 1968 at 6 years old. Mr. "Ira" Tucker's voice was incredible, even into his latter years. His passing is a tremendous loss to the gospel and music community.

  • @jrdominion Ira Tucker Is My Great Grandfather. He Also Passed Last Summer

  • Willie Bobo, James Walker, Beachy Thompson, Paul Owens, and now Ira Tucker has joined his fellow band mates in heaven. Thank you for the years you have given us. You have given us 70 great years sing with "The Birds". Rest in Peace sir, you can believe there will never be another like you.

  • The Hummingbirds' voices are so pure in tone, they are so professional and modest in their performance, it's a truly magnificent thing to hear them.

  • Dshock11,

I hope you can help me with this one. What is the oldest continuous band/group still going today? Is it the Dixie Hummingbirds?

  • And (referring to previous comment) I am 53 years old (damn! how did all that slip past?). Saw these folks many years ago in Nashville, TN, on a free studio weekend, when they wanted applause. Great or what?

  • I am just 18 years old but I have loved this song all my life. My father used to play this song on his guitar and sing it for me when I was a little girl. I am so glad to be able to see them preform it in some form. They really are amazing.

  • I SAW THEM WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL.

  • THANKS for posting this! Gabriel on KDHX-FM St. Louis turned me on to this tune and the Dix. Hmgbrds. I'm looking for the chords to this song, to hopefully perform it, and VOILA! Here's a YouTube post of them performing live. Thank You!

  • Does anyone know who else is still living beside Mr.Tucker? I Think he is the last one, do you know what year they passed?

  • Howard Carroll & Carl Davis are still with us.

  • @dshock11 Is Howard Carrol still alive? Someone said he was still performing. Do you know how old he is?

  • @dshock11 Howard Caroll still alive? I heard he was still performing. How old is he now?

  • @yawotton No Lie, Ira Tucker Is My Great Grandfather .And Yea He Was The Last One Living But He Died Last Summer.

  • @yawotton mr tucker is dead too

  • Sing it y'all! I grew up listening to the Hummingbirds! Long Live Ira Tucker and the Dixie Hummmingbirds. At family reunions in DC we get around in a circle and sing their songs! Love Ya!

  • AIIIGHT! Thats wut I'am TAALKN about, good gospel, thanx

  • My God what a group who may have changed faces, but the sound of old is still, there, Ira Tucker, just getting better, would like to see more from this one

  • I recorded this Live in Monroe. The Host of this event were Rev. & Mrs. Moore. B. Waters

  • I love The Dixie Hummingbirds!

  • Alright this is what I'm talking about. I knew you had some goodies. Is the guy between Paul Owens and Ira Tucker named Carl Davis? I thought he was a pretty good replacement for James Walker. He kinda sounded like him alittle from what I saw on the "Live in Atlanta" recording. Thanks for posting video.

  • Yes. That is Carl Davis. Carl was a longtime member of the Florida Robins and probally best known as a Rev. Claude Jeter replacement in The Swan Silvertones.

  • lol, sorry couldnt resist
