  • Comment removed

  • esto es lo que estava vuscando

  • My teacher has this tape and we used it to recreate the Sleeping Beauty! It is a fantastic ballet

  • I'm so confused right now, apparently this was this first video on YouTube I 'liked'.

    I've never ever seen this...

  • Russian ballets are the best. Marius Petipa was a genious. Kirov´s dancers are amazing.

  • We're doing sleeping beauty this saturday and I'm the golden vine fairy. Or the ' finger fairy' lol. I got to help choreograph it and it's one of the closest to this version, along with songbird and woodland glade. Wish me luck! I'll definitely need it.....

  • well.... I don't like the tutu at all.

  • hey it's so pretty i`m dancing the lilac fairy

  • @Pattinson17cullen me too!

  • Uoh!

I loved the dance from the Fairy of the Enchanted Garden!!

The music is sooo cool and I loved :D

  • lol I always think that it is funny when you can tell a tutu has been left hanging upside-down for just a little TOO long...

  • What is going on with the tutus? Why do they stick up?

  • magnifiqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • can anyone tell me what gifts each of the fairies are giving ?

  • This is one of the reasons i love kirov...there are so few companies out there that stick to the original choreography. I know many schools do...but a lot always do their own choreography.

  • I love the elegance and beauty of the fairy dance. The moves are elegant and you can feel the music as you watch them dance.

  • I LOVE BALLET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the 1st fairy's outfit needs to be blue

  • Sleeping beauty is my fav ballet. I can't wait to be one of the major fairies in my dance schools version

  • Tinydancer9898 Yeah I see but it's ok don't feel bad.lol I am to.

  • please full ballet!!

  • I saw this live with the Kirov, Russians are the best ballet performers in the world, I almost cried. Everything was so fine and well done, the tiaras the lights. Congratulations Russia!

  • the fifth one is temperment

  • i LOVE the sleeping beauty variations u can never get tired of it! :)

  • Last week I saw my first professional performance (Perm Tchaikovsky troupe) and was enthralled from the beginning. Grace, precision, athleticism and artistry...a new art form to appreciate, for me. Hats off to all the dancers and students out there.

  • what's the name of the fitfth varation with the orange tutu?

  • Violente or Force fairy

  • Someone needs to flatten that tutu a little.....

  • I hope I can get a part as a fairy when we perform this this year...

  • she makes it look so easy :)

  • wow :) Im so excited to be doing this ballet in my dance class! oh and pepercat17 her name is the Coulante Faerie which is the Faerie I will be playing as :)

  • I'm doing the Crumb Fairy in April/ May :)

  • omg!!!!!! the garden fairy (that was what i kenw her as growing up) (the 2nd fairy)was freaking perfect!!!!!! i could not even atempt to do what she did on demi pointe let alone on pointe lmao

  • elena vorontzova.

  • I'm sure you could do it with enough practice!

  • i'm supposed to perform these and i totally wanted to see how the professiionals dance this, so thanks, this helped a ton!

  • which one is also named spring?

  • absolutely gorgeous!!! <3

  • beautiful! who is the lilac fairy?

  • Lubov Kunakova. BalletForYou has whole ballet and in last part you can find list of all fairies.

  • Thank you very much I was really curious.

  • i love the red fairy variation!!!!!! :D

  • very pretty

  • I love these variations. My favorites are the "Woodland Glades" and the "Golden Vine," in that order.

  • Chrystal Fountain is amazing

  • I am the autumn fairy!!!!!!!!

  • omg i got songbird fairy yay!!!

  • hey me too!! :)

  • didnt like that, it was alritee.

  • belle!!!! io faccio la seconda!!!!

  • Thank you so much for posting! I'm contemplating doing either Chrystal Fountain (1), Golden Vine (5), Or Lilac (6), for an upcoming audition and this is a wonderful reference for me : )

  • LOL our performance of this is tonight. I'm the first solo, the Candide fairy.

  • my studio's doing sleeping beauty as our spring ballet and i'm the second fairy (around 1:30). so excited, but so nervous ahh :D

  • oh em gee, i have to do that dance on 4:30-5:37...it is so freakin hard..but good job though!

  • i get to do the the same version of lilac fairy and i am so happy cuz that is my fav solo

  • Classic Soviet ballet!! I grew up with this version!!

  • I am dancing a different version of the first one. We call it tenderness at my dance school.

  • omg the yellow (or hyper fairy)'s dance is almost excatly like ours!!!!

  • DANG that musics slow the one in our version is like way faster then that! but its still pretty

  • omg! this choreo looks just like the bolshois I have on dvd... lol... i really like it though!

  • 踊りの振り付けを見たかったので参考になりました。

  • fairy of the crystal fountain

    fairy of the golden sun

    fairy of the enchanted garden

    bluebird fairy

    fairy of the woodland glade

    lilac fairy

that's how we named them... i was the enchanted garden =) aka, the pepto-bismol fairy cause i was the only one with a pink top AND a pink tutu, everyone else had colored tops w/ white tutus... i loved doing this ballet

  • really? i thought that the golden sun one was called the Breadcrumb fairy... and bluebird isn't a fairy, she's an actual bluebird XD *shrugs* ah well. its kinda confusing tho, how like all the different versions hav different names tho, isnt it? lol pepto bismol fairy XDD

  • yeah... i kno those names, but i like the other ones like fairy of passion, etc. because they have emotional meaning, and gives the dancer some knowledge of what she should be dancing, instead of just hopping around plainly, because she does not know.

  • According to Balanchine and Mason's "101 Stories of the Great Ballets" the fairies are Usually as follows:

    1. Fairy of the Chrystal Fountain

    2. Fairy of the Enchanted Garden

    3. Fairy of the Woodland Glades

    4. Fairy of the Songbirds

    5. Fairy of the Golden Vine

    6. Lilac Fairy

    .......I'm a little ballet-obssesed......

  • @tinydancer9898 we see that :)

  • @tinydancer9898

those are the modern age names though girly girl ;)

  • The second fairy variation I got to performe except it was a simplified version.

  • the second fairy is elena vorontsova or lena vorontsova or lena vorontzova, she starred in a film called children of theatre street as a student in graduating class, no one knew what happened to her, but now we know she became a soloist with the kirov.

  • OMG, I love The Children of Theatre Street! Some classmates and I were just talking about that movie and what happened to the dancers. Thanks for the info. ;)

  • is the second one the "finger fairy?" what's her real name?

  • the orange one is the finger fairy I"m pretty sure....

  • The red one is the fairy finger

  • The second one is the rose fairy.. but it has alternate names

  • Wow... we're doing some of these variations at summer intensive. It's weird to see them like this; we learned different choreography. I'm doing Canary and I like the other version better, and the Pine Wood fairy seems really slow. Still, it's neat to get to see them a little bit differently.

  • omg same! we did totally different things!!!

  • Omg, their tutus are up to their ears and head pieces look like antennas!

  • id rather have that than a druppy tutu!

    lol

  • toooooooo skinnyy.....first 2 faries are oddi dob't know what it is other than apaulement

  • it looks very old. not that they are bad dancers, but i hate the way these variations have been done- miette looks like a grasshopper. i do have to say, the tutus are so strange, and no i know dancing is not about the costume but still... odd

  • @beanari

thats because these are closely related to the original choreography that pitita had orchestrated himself, ballet in those times was a different art of it own, these dances awed the people of that age, like todays variations of these fairies enchant us. :D

  • @pepercat17 do you mean what Petipa choreographed? This is orchestrated by Tchaikovsky, and I've never heard of a 'pitita'

  • @beanari

Trough your critique, the Choreography is marvelous.

I notice the ..well..let's say problem with the Tutu of the Candor Fairy (1st one) but their costumes aren't strange,or odd, they're more in the Old way, long ago made. I don't believe they deserve such a touch critique,as long people had spent a lot of work to make them.

  • who cares about the tutu's idiot!

  • moi dans mon ecole de danse et dans ce spectacle g t la fée jaune

  • it's beautiful!!!

  • Why on earth does the first one's tutu stick up?!

  • Awesome! We're doing these variations at my dance school.

  • same with me im doing canary. its so short but very fast

  • Why are all their tutus like all demented? And why are they all so old??

  • i like the garnet fairy. she has long limbs like me :)

  • The third and fourth fairies, and the lilac fairy at the end, tried to have the correct epaulement and cambre. The whole point of these variations is that the torso sways; the arms are supposed to move while moving the torso. This is more important the better a dancer is; if an intermediate ballet class can do it, fairies one and two should too.

  • Lol! In the beggining she looks like she has a bad tan! And her skirt and head-piece looks funny but you can't pick when your getting hired...

  • do you realize that this is old? aduh!

  • i like the first one i wonder what is the name of the music in this sleeping beauty ballet?

  • these are the different fairy variations which could be specified by the viewers, but i dont believe tchaikovsky gave each separate variation its own name

  • Wow. :)

I have the whole of this ballet on dvd.

The rest of it is soo incredible.

    Thanks for posting. :)

  • It looks like they're all very tall ?

  • yah... honestly, it's a good part, but i don't think they did too fabulous performing it...

but yah... i'm doing this variation (the 1st fairy) in my class!

  • And the orange fairy!!!WOW!!The girl who performs canary fairy is such a cupid...I could see her in Don Q heehee...OMG I love Lyubova the Lilac fairy....INSANELY good it's scary...but so fluid and beautiful snif! You should see her solo in the wedding....YAAAAAAAAH!!!!

  • The second fairy is Elena Volontsova. She was the main graduate of her year in "Children of Theatre Street" if you've seen it.Striking performance...lots of attack

  • omg im the 4th fairy, the really bright yellow one!!!it is such a cool part but ive got soo many blisters!!!

  • I did that variation too! I loved it.

  • beauty fairy!

  • I think the second dance was the Fairy of Vitality...Coulante I believe.

  • oh sorry for posting two comments. i thought the first one wasnt posted. :/

  • what is the name of the short variation (i think it's the second one) in which the ballerina wears a yellow tutu?

  • what is the name of the second dance in which the ballerina wears a yellow tutu? we are doing that variation just for fun in my pointe class and my silly dance teacher forgot what it was called. haha.

  • I personally think that the fairies didnt have much technique, and that their stage presence wasnt good. I like their costumes though.

  • This is the best part in the whole ballet!! I love all the colors. I did the pink fairy's part, so much fun!!

  • The Peach Fairy is Yelena Vorontsova from "Children of Theatre Street" (Lena). It's nice to see her in a soloist role.

  • Nice but this Movie Is So Confusing... ButI Also like da Colors.......

  • I'm going to do Fairy of the Crystal Fountain

  • I'v got 4 bisters so far.

  • Hi, I find the names a bit confusing how each call them.

I've always know the fariy names in their original form (as they are in Tchaikovsky's score).

    As in order of appereance:

Candite, Coulante (Fleur de Farine), Fée aux Miettes, Canari qui chante, Violente and Fée des Lilas.

I remember that this was my first tape of the Sleeping Beauty. :)

  • this ballet is confusing. i think it keep close to that of the original ballet of sleeping beauty. so some fairys are boring to watch such as the fountian fairy and others are actually better than modern sleeping beaut such as the garden fairy

  • Hey! The red fairy and I have the same build! This is good!

  • the girl in the white needs to work on her Arms

  • u kno if they are in the kirov ballet they probobly dont have much to work on so u shouldnt go around telling others wat to do and wat not to.

  • -fairy of the crystal fountain

    -fairy of the enchanted garden

    -fairy of the woodland glade

-fairy of song or the canary fairy/caffeine fairy as we call her

    -fairy of the golden vine

    -Lilac Fairy

  • Hehe the caffiene fairy good one wazzup!

  • but what company is this?

  • kirov, from the dvd with kolpakova

  • Thanks ashenwing for the comment. It help me to better understand the Sleeping Beauty. As you mention every fairy, for me every variation's music match with the intention of the author.

  • What do the different fairies represent?

  • the first is the fairy of the crystal fountain, then the fairy of the enchanted garden, the third I don't know, the fourth is the canary, then the fairy of the golden vine (also known as Violente), and last is the lilac fairy, who is queen of the fairies. they're giving gifts to the baby aurora: clear sight, a beautiful singing voice, etc.

  • Some differences in choreography from the Royal Ballet version - which is correct I wonder?

  • correct?

  • Well, I suppose I meant original Petipa. I like the 2 arabesques in the Royal's Lilac fairy variation, which the Kirov don't do..

  • Sleeping Beauty was originally choreographed for the Imperial Ballet company, which later became the Kirov after the revolution.

  • Yes, I knew that, but Sergeyev brought his records of the Petipa to the Royal Ballet when they mounted their first Sleeping Beauty, so they might have the more original version...

  • Oh, definitely. I'm no ballet expert, I doubt I'd even notice the differences :-) But I am a huge fan of the Kirov company, theirs are the only performances I've seen on stage, so I just felt like commenting :-)

  • Kirov are the BEST!

  • yes.

  • Of course!

  • is it just me or does she look a bit akward en pointe?

  • which dancer?

  • wonderful performance from every one, they all performed with such security!
