  • This could acctualy be usefull someday. For example, If they have a camera they could be remote security cameras.

  • sugeeeee!!

  • Looks more like Skynet than penguins to me

  • How are they doing that? They are kinda hovering and with no real noise? Can't see any external sources of power and lift.

  • OK, WHAT THE HELL?

There is a MOTHERFUCKING FLYING PENGUINBOT IN THE ROOM AND NO ONE TAKES A MINUTE TO ADMIRE IT?

People are so hard to impress nowadays.

  • Wait a minute. Penguins can't fly.

    PENGUINS CAN'T FLY!!!!

  • these robots are so amazing but nobody in the video is watching them...

  • in reference to your stated questions... i would like to think that human beings are programmed to be inspired when they recognize something that displays an obvious step in the evolution of anything that is man-made, e.q., when designing airplanes, successful designs are said to "just look right" as if finding a statue hiding in a block of marble...

Kids may be more inclined to feast on the NEW and EVOLVED, because recognizing those things are how they become more functional in the world

  • Because penguins are cute that's why.

  • who are always asking for the motives. are you trainig to be a detective? :)

well, I think flying is the ultimate form of movement , the excitement, the challenge, the feelings, the emotions, I don´t know, but I think most people would love to experiment what he has done. he is not in a vehicle, his wings are like an extension of himself. even trying to fly in a computer simulation is fun, flying like he does its .. well... it`s out of this world? I think he crossed the English Channel.

  • "Flying Robotic Penguins" would be an EXCELLENT name for a band.

  • i want one

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love flying?

    (2) Wy do we want to imagine that ocean animals can fly in the sky, especially children?

    (3) Why do we like to imagine and to image aeroplanes as ocean animals? (eg. 747= whale & 787 = dolphin)

    (4) Why do we want to build an aeroplane looking like a penguin in the ocean?

    (5) Why do we enjoy to image sea animals are flying at sea?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • @applesweeter

I think the answer to all of the questions is simply that we are "programmed" to reach for the the "unthinkable" and strive for perfection... Nature is usually much more perfected than our own creations. Our mind enjoys challenges and the unexpected, such as flying ocean animals...

And you can move in 3 dimensions in water and air. I love free diving and scuba diving, it feels as flying freely and with a minimum of equipment.

  • @Robotshopen

What do you think about the following statement?

"We like to make flying vehicle looks like a ocean animals so that we can imagine that a flying vehicle has life. This will remind and recall our nice early childhood feeling, when we thought that every object is living"

    Please express you opinion

  • @applesweeter

I don't remember thinking that every object was living... But I guess it's true for some. I rather say that when you are a child you usually have a lot more imagination, before it gets blocked by school, boring routines, grown ups, etc... So our fascination for these things shows that we still have that childhood imagination left inside, and it's never too late to get it back and keep on to explore it! :-)

  • @Robotshopen

It is in the subject of "life-span development" believeing children think every objects has a life.

  • @applesweeter...........@robotshopen............is clearly telling you that once we have reached our very distant galaxies, that our craft will still remind us of all life on earth......understood ? sad dad ok

  • @applesweeter

about question 3, well there are technical questions about it, in order to be aerodynamic engineers have used that form. just like submarines. there are alot of labs trying to emulate animal wings and legs for example, because are really efficient. from snake like robots to insect ones, they fit well in some specific needs.

  • @jh5kl

Do you think that we want to design "robot ocean animals" able to fly high because we want them to play with us in the air?

  • @applesweeter well, I don`t know something that specific, but if these things make you wonder I think you are going to like this, there is a guy, belgium I think, who had sucess on attaching small jet engines to wings, that we carries on his back. he calls himself the fusion man

    watch?v=PYWDfPE5dik

  • @jh5kl

Yes, I heard about this man on TV news, too.

What do you think his motives to do so?

  • @applesweeter there penguins gosh lol

  • @applesweeter 1. we love flying because its liberating

    2. becuse when we see them in water they seem to be flying and imaginations are exaggerated reality..why not ocean animals in the sky....(its also is related to the fact that we sleep facing upwards and imagine/contemplate things in the sky sometimes)

  • @arizmuth

About question 2, we enjoy to fly high because we imagine about flying in the sky when we lying on our bed. is that waht your mean?

  • @applesweeter

    3. this question can be answered scientifically.....its all related to a term called "drag", the streamline form of these aquatic animals have least amount of drag when swimming in water, same applies for air travel..only here the drag is air.

4.penguins are one of the best swimmers and can rech great speeds swimming...we have tried all shapes like dolphin and whale ...why not a penguin.

    q5 is repition of q2

  • @applesweeter

    1) Most people don't like flying

    2) You can imagine lots of things when stoned

    3) The shape of aeroplanes is dictated by aerodynamics, similar to hydrodynamics. Any similarities are conincidence

    4) No one wants to do that

    5) Can you even speak english?

  • @andytheweb

About question 5, I notice that there were a gramma mistake. Howver, it was due to "quick wirting".

  • @applesweeter I was only kidden you man ;) hehe

  • @applesweeter you need to start gettting comfortable speaking in your maiden language, most humans are now capapble of interpretting

  • @blkc63

    What is maiden language?

  • @applesweeter ...what do you mean, you dont understand the word 'maiden'? means 'home' or 'mother' language

  • @applesweeter We love the feeling of being unbound. We were all created from pure energy. We know deep down how vast the universe is and have been fascinated with the stars at the edge of reality since the beginning of time. If we could fly freely through space, we could be that little bit closer to the beginning of everything. Ocean animals have mastered the dimensions of their cruelly limited domain while we are slaves to gravity and the delicateness of air. We can always wish.

  • @dudecrushdude

    Nice opinions!! :)

From your answer, we love flying because we want to free from gravity and fly freely to explore the universe. Am I correct?

What do you think about my following statement?

"We like to create a flying penguin, because we like imgina the 3D space that we are living is water, and we can swim freely with the penguin"

  • @applesweeter Yeah, to freely explore the universe unbound would be incredible. I don't know why these particular people did it, but I think they chose the penguin because the penguin cannot fly through air even though it can through water. Like us, penguins live their whole lives wishing they could fly. I wonder if they are envious of other birds. I think art is the first step towards the impossible. We were dreaming of flying and depicting it in art ages before invented planes.

  • @dudecrushdude

Do you think flying is a kind of art?

Somehow, I think that penguin think the sky is toward downward (in the deep bottom of the ocean) instead of upward. This may be Penguin's psychology. What do you think???

  • @applesweeter That's a pretty interesting idea actually. I never thought of that before. Yeah maybe for penguins the horizon is the deep. I wonder if they're frustrated with how deep they can go, if they wonder how much further they can go.

I can see how flying can be an art form. Especially beautifully designed planes flown by amazing pilots.

  • Thumbs up for flying penguins!

  • Festo makes amazing things.

  • Google "Airstage UK"

  • Helium =)

  • amazing

  • they should make a festo flying jellyfish would look really hypnotizing !!! :D

  • stunning

  • man I want a flying penguin

  • i love this its so cool :D

  • useless

  • o noes 9its coming down to fast watch the powerline's-o-noes THE HUMANITY !!!

  • @iBorderBum Useless?

This is by far a very significant invention, more important than you, my friend..

  • it looks like a flying fountain pen

  • WOW!

  • SCIENCE

  • えっ、ホントに飛んでるの???

    スゴい、欲しい!!!

  • possibly the greatest comment i've ever seen

  • Ha ha, well yeah would be nice to have one. But I don't think they are for sale. But I guess everything has a price... Just contact the company.

  • How much are they & where can I buy one ??

  • Wow

  • are they attached to a wire?

  • No, think blimp

  • oh, the way they were moving seemed like they were attached to a wire but I wasnt sure

  • nope haha :3 thats what makes it so cool !

  • that's awesome!

  • XD .
