This video provides an excellent response to Rob Bell. As a church locally near Mars Hill we will be taking on this subject in the broader context of post modernism. "The Answer in an Age of Uncertainty" | January 27 | 7pm EST | Hudsonville Protestant Reformed Church. Join us or listen live. Check out our channel for more info.
Why waste time thinking through silly questions.... like hell and eternal conscious punishment? They don't seem like silly questions to me - they sound like pretty big questions.
Bell's opponent is the Lord Jesus on this matter, as He stated: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
I think that's fairly clear, unless you reject the concept that language communicates information ...
thank u so much. Love this- I am still amazed how those who preach a water down gospel cane have such a big influence. Clown Bells message cause it's not BIBLICAL it's His own messsage not Christ's.
HAHAHAHA!! THIS WAS AWESOME!!!! This video is sooooo accurate to how Rob Bell talks and his dumb videos. Dude you guys speak the truth! HOORAY! I loved this video I laughed so much!!
@MaharlikaAWA We are canon Press (and Canonwired [dot] com). We are ministry of Christ Church, in Moscow, Idaho, and evangelical Reformed Presbyterian church. Thanks for asking! visit that canonwired site for lots more videos (most not as "rehearsed" as this one, but great content!)
@MaharlikaAWA No, most are not parody videos. A lot of theological questions and discussions. And yes, we are a ministry of a reformed church. "Christ Church" is not "Church of Christ" group, but rather a Reformed Presbyterian denomination (CREC - Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches), very similar to the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America).
@MaharlikaAWA Yeah, that's the "PCUSA." They are quite liberal. The PCA is a broad denomination (large), but quite conservative. You might call us "Calvinists" but I don't like labels all that much, and we are first and foremost obviously followers of Christ and the Bible is our guide. But we do have a high respect for the church and its fathers (as long as Scripture is first).
@CanonWired Thats cool. Im a calvinist. My sister goes to a Presbyterian church that is reformed and conservative so I believe she must go to a PCA church. I live in Alabama currently as does she. Anyway your ministry is cool and I am very pleased to see a parody of Rob Bell. BRING US MORE parodies of heretics!
This is a confusing, not very funny video. I mean, some of the Rob Bell parodies are clever. That being said, nothing intelligent is being said here. Rob Bell asks questions that challenge Christians without compromising the authenticity of the Bible. Outright calling him a shallow idiot just because you feel threatened by his ministry is pretty non-Christian. What is God more concerned with in this life? Here's a hint: Jesus showed us with the way he acted while he was alive.
@tomcrazyOMG5 "Rob Bell asks questions that challenge Christians without compromising the authenticity of the Bible."=hogwash Bell is not challenging anyone least of all his own church. And the narrator said "shallow thinking". He did not say "shallow idiot" or even refer to Bell as an idiot. You really just embellished the truth. If someone read your comment before watching this you are to be believed sir.
@SerJahPhoto I can assure you it is. Nate Wilson, the main guy behind this, was my Freshman Rhetoric teacher. The dude with the long hair is a fellow upperclassman. : ) I would highly recommend watching Rob Bell's original Trailer. And please forgive the strong tone in my first post.
John Lennon is in hell? Well, no big news. Everybody who dies, goes to hell according to Scripture. However, that isn't the place of burning. Hell is HADES, which we find by the quoting of the OT in the NT is the equivalent of SHEOL. It simply means the "grave." The burning or GEHENNA, according to Jesus, takes place after the harvest--at the end of the world. (Scriptural support available upon request.)
@MorganMarvinson the Bible doesn't teach that everyone goes to hell. and hell and hades are not the same thing. hell is a future place when Christ returns (aka final judgement), where satan, his angels, and those who denied Christ go upon death. hades is the holding place for those who deny Christ. sheol was the holding place for the faithful, but upon Christ's death, heaven was opened up. thus why Christ says to the thief "today you will be with me in paradise."
@hickersoncj08 Look up "grave" in a Strong's concordance. Note how many in the OT have gone to the grave; then note how many in the NT have gone to the grave. Then note the number beside "grave" and see where it generally takes you. In the OT it takes you to SHEOL. Cross reference the reference to SHEOL in Psalm 16:10 with Acts 2:27, 31 and Hosea 13:14 with 1 Cor. 15:55. The equivalent to SHEOL is HADES. Then see how many times HELL comes from HADES. Barring translation, all die and go to HADES.
@MorganMarvinson ??? you're giving verses to show that sheol is in the OT, which isn't the argument, and yet show no evidence for how one can equate sheol, hades, and hell as the same thing. so what you just said made no sense and holds no weight. if you're gonna debate, at least take the time to think about what you're saying. my apologies if i sound like a jerk.
@hickersoncj08 I suggest you look up the verses I provided in Hebrew and in Greek and you will have sufficient justification for the equating of SHEOL and HADES. The same search will show that "hell" is HADES.
I have thought long and hard about this, so asking about it doesn't offend me. Fudge thought about it too and chronicled his lexical journey in THE FIRE THAT CONSUMES.
Just in case people were HONESTLY wondering if this is TheAmazingAtheist - No, this is not. His name is Stephen Sampson, a student of New Saint Andrews College, in Moscow, Idaho. See him in "The Night Shift" (by user humbleguru). Check him out at facebook [dot] com / stephenjoshuasampson
@austinmcrawford Absolutely! It is called the ASSURANCE of Jesus. We are to have confidence in what God has said, preach with boldness. Faith built on a foundation not sand. You show the mind set of what a true false teacher loves - to be UNSURE of what you believe. Please read more about it. Spurgeon had choice words for these types.
I don't think Bell is completely wrong, however, as a fan of good comedy, this is hilarious!!! I think people are bent out of shape over Love Wins because he is challenging their "good old timey" sentimental beliefs, not so much the Truth (be it both or not).
This is really funny though! Very Nooma-esque. I love the scenes where he is on the treadmill and his hair is mysteriously blowing in the wind.
God loved us enough to tell us the truth - the ugly truth about our sin and its eternal punishment, as well as the beautiful truth of his death and resurrection on our behalf so that we can avoid hell.
How is it loving, insightful, "nuanced," or sophisticated to pretend these answers aren't actually there? Or worse, to make a boat-load of money in Jesus' name by questioning the existence of Jesus' answers?
