Im having trouble understanding what is so inhumane in
1) You allow a person to stay in your country
2) They commit violent acts against your citizens
3) You send them back as they dont belong in your society
Are you guys serious? You are basically saying, come into our country commit acts of terror, and the worst will happen is you will be in jail with health care and free meals?
@samuils Well, it's inhumane to send people to their deaths, whether we think they deserve it or not. As Ming Campbell said, we can't pick and choose who we apply human rights to.
@rhysepoos When a person purposefully killed someone, that person no longer deserves human rights. I am seriously tired of people constantly thinking of a criminal, and never about a victim. Was the victim ever considered to even be a runner up for human rights, being killed and all? And I seriously dont care about what Liberals have to say about this issue. Surely, none of their families have suffered, yet the freely speak for others
@rhysepoos "People", Ill give you a clear example. Russia, a "Person" raped and killed an 8 year old, that so called person was sent to jail, since they dont have death penalty for this crime, he was released early for supposed good behavior, shortly after release, this so called person found another 8 year old, he raped her and hung her on a tree in a forest. Yes lets all join hands for this "person" and lets not put him to death, hes a person isnt he? Ask those girls parents
@samuils Well I'm not suggesting we make life comfortable for prisoners, but I'm a 21st Century Briton, not a barbarian, so I don't think anybody can lose the right to live. If it's wrong to kill, then it's wrong to kill anybody. Besides which, death is the easy option. If I were a criminal, I'd rather be killed soon than spend my entire life in prison.
@rhysepoos Yes, I love how people call others barbarians because they believe in death penalty. how about this, if you G'd forbid ever come into circumstances where your loved one is murdered, G'd forbid again, how about then you decide on that specific case? Ok? Until then, please keep your soap box and your so called high moral ground to yourself, ok?
@samuils Hang on, I'm not judging victims if they want retribution in whatever way they see fit. I've had to lose loved ones before, so I understand that pain, but I don't understand the pain that the families of murder victims etc. go through because I'd never experienced it, and thus I wouldn't judge them for whatever they think or want. But that doesn't mean I don't know what's right or wrong, and it doesn't mean that victims should get their retribution if it's not right.
@rhysepoos Since when do you think that Capital punishment is not right? What makes it wrong? What makes you think that inhuman that has just killed someone with malicious intent, deserves to stay alive in prison, in prison where he will get great medical treatment, as well as books to read and exercise. What makes you think that this is the correct punishment?
@samuils Ok, there are two issues here. Do (serious) criminals have the right to live, and do criminals deserve comforts? Prisoners should go to prison and not enjoy it, that is obvious. But most of the developed agrees with me, that it's wrong to kill anybody and it's wrong for anybody to kill, unless it's necessary, of course. What if we killed an innocent man? What about the mother of the criminal, does she deserve to lose her son? Is death a harsher sentence than life imprisonment?
@rhysepoos Yes death is harsher, some of these waste of space get paroled, only to go out and kill again. And please , stop saying "developed" or modern or whatever high ground you think you have. USA is very developed country, yet some states here still have capital punishment. And my concern once again is with the victim, and victims family, not the garbage that brought them misery. Not to mention, families have to endure parole hearings, CONSTANTLY having to deal with the murderer.
@rhysepoos "Prisoners should go to prison and not enjoy it' So how do you imagine that? Or have you not heard prisoners complaining of "unfair" treatment? There are so called even more enlightened people than you who think that murderers should be treated very humanly, and have all creature comforts in the world, because that is supposedly humane.
@rhysepoos And to End this conversation, Ill give you my last point, the rapists/murderers of children in my opinion, should be put to death, if not by law then inmates will take care of it, Serial killers, and other murderers who have done so with malice, should be put to death. That is what I believe, and you cant change my mind, and please stop telling me that you are more mentally developed, or more modern because you have a different opinion
@samuils Fair enough, you have your opinion and I have mine, although you misrepresented me a bit. My earlier point wasn't that I'm more mentally developed than you, my point was that my beliefs are in line with the beliefs of most of the modern developed world, and your beliefs are not. Clearly, I view that as a good thing and you view it as a bad thing.
There is a reason Obama hasn't closed it. It was a bad idea. These are prisoners of war and sedition free nations have every right to lock them up indefinitely without trial until we can prove them innocence or deport them.
