I agree with you 100% :-) Jodelle Ferland is DA BOMB!!!! The director said she played 3 characters, but she only played 2 - Sharon & Alessa :-) She's only 15, but she an excellent actress and is already on her way to stardom, but she has a normal life like every other teenager :-) She was also good in the tv show Supernatural, one of my favorite shows :-)
She actually played 3 characters Sharon ( Alessa's good side) Alessa ( the burned girl in the oxygen tent) and Dark Alessa (Alessa's bad side) who we see Rose chase throughout the film.

Rose was trapped in the alternate dream world of Alessa. Alessa used Sharon's memory to create more roads, homes(Rose's home), etc. Before that, Alessa dimension consists of only Silent Hill, and outside of that is a completely empty space as shown in the movie.
There is a possibility of leaving Alessa's alternate world, however, only Alessa has the power to send her back to reality world. In Silent Hill 1, the main Character was able to return to the reality because Alessa was dead.
No, they're not dead. If you played the game, you'll know that Silent Hill that Rose went was a world created by Alessa. Same as her adopted daughter who is a good part of Alessa. Notice that the atmosphere is very foggy. It's a sign that you're trapped in Alessa's world. When she has a nightmare, the world turns into the otherworld.

I thought the ending to the movie was kind off-putting. It is really way too open-ended. The movie itself had flaws, yes, but forgiviable ones. The ending ruined the movie for me. I get that there's some serious allegory going on there, but nontheless, its just a terrible way to end a movie.
Oh yes :-) Silent Hill 2 is in production and will be released in 2010. I hope they bring back the characters Rose, Sharon & Christopher (except Christabella because she was killed by Aleyssa), because they were DA BOMB!!!! Although it'll probably be difficult to top the 1st Silent Hill movie with a sequel, I'm hoping it'll do excellent as the 1st one :-)
I've heard of the Silent Hill game and I've seen the characters you've mentioned in the game, but I never even played it before. Oh well, you know what they say, "Better late than never" (lol). I will learn how to play the game though :-) Christophe Gans will not be directing the Silent Hill sequel, and I hope that whoever the new director is will make the sequel much better, although it will probably be difficult to top the 1st one :-)

Rose was trapped in the alternate dream world of Alessa. Alessa used Sharon's memory to create more roads, homes(Rose's home), etc. Before that, Alessa dimension consists of only Silent Hill, and outside of that is a completely empty space as shown in the movie.

There is a possibility of leaving Alessa's alternate world, however, only Alessa has the power to send her back to reality world. In Silent Hill 1, the main Character was able to return to the reality because Alessa was dead.

No, they're not dead. If you played the game, you'll know that Silent Hill that Rose went was a world created by Alessa. Same as her adopted daughter who is a good part of Alessa. Notice that the atmosphere is very foggy. It's a sign that you're trapped in Alessa's world. When she has a nightmare, the world turns into the otherworld.

i think the main just of it is they havent died but theyre in limbo, basically theyre stuck between worlds, theyre not dead but theyre not alive, i think its some sorta parallel universe, but thats just my view on it, i havent really played the games so i cant say gamewise

8tiger8lilly8, thats because they didn't die, they where just stuck between two realitys,one theory is that (in the movie) alessa who hade been treated so bad in the "real" world, wanted to protect rose and her daughter from all the bad things in the world by keeping them in the "other" Silent Hill.

I thought the ending to the movie was kind off-putting. It is really way too open-ended. The movie itself had flaws, yes, but forgiviable ones. The ending ruined the movie for me. I get that there's some serious allegory going on there, but nontheless, its just a terrible way to end a movie.

Oh yes :-) Silent Hill 2 is in production and will be released in 2010. I hope they bring back the characters Rose, Sharon & Christopher (except Christabella because she was killed by Aleyssa), because they were DA BOMB!!!! Although it'll probably be difficult to top the 1st Silent Hill movie with a sequel, I'm hoping it'll do excellent as the 1st one :-)

I've heard of the Silent Hill game and I've seen the characters you've mentioned in the game, but I never even played it before. Oh well, you know what they say, "Better late than never" (lol). I will learn how to play the game though :-) Christophe Gans will not be directing the Silent Hill sequel, and I hope that whoever the new director is will make the sequel much better, although it will probably be difficult to top the 1st one :-)

the game is better than the movie... if you haven't played the game it'll be mad hard to understand the movie... you know what's really ironic tho? I finally got around to owning all 6 Silent Hill game (A BRAND NEW FUCKIN PS3 FOR THAT!) but i have never seen the movie.....

the police women had a crash just as she entered silent hill and so did the other 2 so there souls were trapped in silent hill so when they leave they go into a different relm than everyone else , if you have played the game you might of picked up that if u die in silent hill you cant get out or if you leave silent hill you can never get out something like tht :)

You know what? I didn't even pick up on the police woman, and I thought she just followed Rose and Sharon to the other dimension of Silent Hill. I didn't even know she crashed with them. I'm so slow at following the movie, and I want to thank you so much for providing the info :-)

i think the second movie could be like this:
-sharon and his mother are kept in this world for 17 years
-claudia (chistabela's or dhalia's daughter) makes a pact with the demon that envolves sharon
-claudia kills rose
-that detective could appear too

Depends on who you ask. This movie got a lot of mixed reviews, so you might like to try it for yourself. The scare factor wasn't so good but the atmosphere and characters were good.

Thumbs up, thanks. I rented it a week ago. It was alright, you are right about the atmosphere. I couldn't believe how INSANE those creepy christians are, burning a child alive- shit. I know it's a movie, but people have done some real life radical shit because of their warped beliefs.

Silent Hill's not supposed to be scary, it's supposed to be disgusting. It's a psychological/stylish horror. Oh, and that song is from Silent Hill 3, its No.2 on the soundtrack called: Your not Here

I only play the game early in the morning, just when the sun rises. It just seems to be less scary, but not by much. It's still psychologically disturbing.
