The DMV in NJ and NY used to be the worst. I waited 8 hours to get my first drivers license when I was 17 in 1992 and that was with them spelling the name wrong and taking the picture from a frontal view (over21). In 1998 moved to NYS and took about an hour.

There are few things in the world worse than a day at the DMV... (and I say day because I have never spent less than 12 hours there at a time) Imagine the excruciating agony of hour after hour crammed in a small building with hundreds of other people... now imagine doing it with a ruptured adnoid, or a bleeding spleen! Yeah... sounds like paradise to me.
