It's beautiful, but I think Bharathanatyan is much more graceful. This seems a little cluttered, for lack of a better word. Maybe it's just this group of dancers, I need maybe check out some other videos.
Speaking as one who has learnt both dance forms, Bharatanatyam is beautiful I agree, but Odissi is probably one of the most graceful dances. Do check out Sujata Mohapatra or Sanjukta Panigrahi
Oh yes, Sanjukta Panigrahi - just watched her dance, you are correct - SHE is graceful indeed. I think it is most likely this group of dancers or the stage itself. Thanks for sharing that and thanks for teaching ;-) Much appreciated...
I agree with you totally. Odissi like Bharatanatyam must be judged on the whole sum of all works, not just one item. Plus, the quality of the video does influence one's opinion of how good the item is. It is unfair to condemn an art-form based on one performance, as Nadobie has done.
Used to be Courteseans(Devdasis) performing this dance in temples for devotion and prayers, now prized for it's cultural value Odissi (from State of Orissa) is one of seven classical dances of India.

Great stuff!! I suggest you link this to DynamycDesi - they give weekly rewards to such talents and are a good site to help you promote.

This is based on a Sanskrit poem by Jayadeva (12. AD) describing the 10 incarnations of Sri Vishnu - the preserver of the Hindu trinity of gods.
