Wow!! This is the toughest dialogue for Dillon I've seen since the episode with Charles Bronson as a serial killer who threatens Kitty. I've heard that the radio version was more adult and I'm betting this was a radio script, practically straight up. Either that or Pekinpah, maybe. In any case, it's a smasher, right down to the black hat. (Which he apparently isn't wearing for nothing!)
Only episode I've seen with Arness in a black hat. It somehow doesn't suit him, my favorite's the white hat they later discarded, but it was great to see variety. Fifteen years of exactly the same outfit just for the sake of continuity in distance shots got to be sadistic toward the audiences. And does anyone else notice how much higher the production values look in the half hour shows, with real outdoors, instead of being shot on soundstages with big photos in the background in later years??
"Great early episode of season1.never seen theses early ones as i wasnt born untill 1959, my grandfarther, and my farther use to watch theses,i began to watch them in 68, thank you for theses early episodes hope theres more of them...jame Arnesss sure was a tuff marshall, very good actor bless him (RIP);Is there an episode when matt dillon became sworn in as marshall dillon love to see that one waiting for the up load if there is one in your uploads thanks Gentlemen.

The ONLY lawman to recognize that you can kill a citizen merely by disarming them... and it had to be a fictional character at that. Outlaws will ALWAYS have guns available ! Btw, Kitty sure looked pretty.
I know they kept messing with Matt Dillon's clothes until they finally settled on the Salmon colored shirt, light or whitish vest and light colored hat
@GJNCA Was he really born in 1922?? That would make him a year older then James Arness. No way!!Kennedy(Travis)looks like he is young enough to be Arness' son here!!!
interesting how raw eh dillion and chester characters were in the first season...

Very strong episode, no wasted motions, tight writing throughout.
