  • An underated performer

  • very long time ago, I saw her on TV, when I was teenager, much time without see this video!!!!!

  • God, so long ago but i still love her.

  • What a talent Rachel was (and good-lookin' to boot)! It's a darn shame that her career was so badly mishandled. She was a far bigger talent than many of those singers from that era who *did* make it.

  • sweet

  • So THIS is the hottie that sang the theme song for Clarissa Explains it All? Damn....SCHWING!

  • Oh Boy!! Rachel looks sooooo 'SWEET' & SEXY....WOW!! she can 'pull' me any day, lol.

  • If she was around in the 50's etc,Ive no doubt she would have been a superstar. Perfect voice for this music =D

  • I was listening to Then He Kissed Me and I thought that it sounded pretty similar to Be My Baby... so I found this video and it switched songs right when I thought it sounded like it should have on the video. SWEET.

  • Oh God !!! I think I'm in love. Where has she been all my life?

  • @cliffedward Yeah that's pretty much what I thought the first time I heard of her.

  • Great song Thanks Lazza for sharing!

  • Beautiful oldies! Thanks for this wonderful share Lazza!

I use to sing Be My Baby all the time as a teenage girl.God Bless, Hugs & Smiles, Love, Jan Enjoyed immensely thank you so much.

  • sounds like she is singing in a public toilet

  • Hilarious! Watch a video of the Ronettes to see how it should be performed.

  • @DeneBebbo

Obviously Rachel learned from watching the Ronettes. Which is why Ms. Sweet does a better job imo.

  • Aww this grl iz Awsome shes got the whole paket, Shud ave bin a mega-star got the original Go to Pieces only bin out itz cover once [Mint Condition] 2 Songs "Then he Kissed me" n Be my Baby Rachel made them her own never tire of wchin it. wud lov a dvd Rachel in Concert plus Interviews. • a very good video .

  • Talk about selling a song! Every look, every move is classic. Rachel Sweet rocks this one.

  • GOODFELLAS

  • rachel sweet is a cutie. I usually hate pretentious oldies revival acts but i love her

and i also love annie golden's "hang up the phone"

Rachel played goerge's cousin on seinfeld lol. Sad.

Has anyone else noticed the similarity between pop "lolitias" faces like they're cloned in a lab at some record company. Britney spears, rachel sweet, debbie gibson, and france gall and alizee from France. They all look like sisters to me. Oh well rachel is cooler than the others no offense with that.

  • @healthhaterxx

Rachel Sweet was never "pretentious" nor was she ever a "revival act".

  • When i was sufferring from PTSD after returning from the falklands my loving wife wrote to rachel as she was my favourite singer in the early eighties and bless her socks she actually penned a reply which i still have today. A wonderful woman with a big heart and a special place in my heart.

  • @bobgladstone That was really sweet of her to do. =)~

  • @Persephonie22 Yes it was can you imagine the alter ego modern singers replying today i think not.

It is something I will always cherish

    Thanks Bob

  • Georgie !!! Your cousin Shelley is talking to you !!

  • There are 2 songs here: "Then He Kissed Me" that was originally performed by The Crystals and "Be My Baby", iroginally by The Ronettes. Both produced by Phil Spector.

I don't think the background singers are from those bands.

I see no reason for thumbs down. :O

  • @HuimisKiss I do not see how you can give this hot baby a thumbs down.

  • @HuimisKiss i remember her from the sweet life and she was producer writer on dharma and greg her voice sucks i hope this is funny by the way thank you for all u do ad i mean u huimiskiss

  • are the black ladies in the backgroud the original singers to the song(s)?

  • No. Ms. Spears looks like Ms. Sweet.

  • This song is so being my first dace with the love of my life <3 sammy

  • She has got a sweet baby face.

  • I like Miss Sweet, though more her earlier stuff than this. Still, I kept hoping the song would get back to AND THEN HE KISSED ME.

  • this was ihe NORTH END of HAMILTON< ONTARIO< CANADA 1982

  • ooooh, Hamilton. Home of Junkhouse, Daniel Lanois, Simply Saucer and my sweetie. :)

  • Where's this girl been all my life?

  • love it !

  • It's a good song, but this is far from a performance. I was disappointed when I saw she was lip syncing

  • It's a music video...

  • Definitely got that New York attitude...

  • Does anybody know where u can download this song or if u can download it at all???

  • I tried to download this song for like a month straight and finally gave up. I just went on amazon and bought the cd. I probably could just record it on to my computer and send it you sometime.

  • ok that's cool thank you....i would really appreciate it!

  • Tämä on muuten oikeesti mahtava biisi ja hyvä laulaan toi naaras.

  • Rachel can belt out a good tune.

  • Génial! j'adore!

    merci pour le partage.

  • I don't care what anybody says, I think this version is far better than the originals. Why? Because nothing beats 80's alt rock tonalities with the chorused guitar and reverb all throughout. Plus, Rachel Sweets brings more edge to this than those candy pop "Pleasantville" mainstream artists of the 60's where everyone had to act and look "perfect." Really cool song and definitely an overlooked gem of the 80's.

  • Girl groups wern't pleasentville at all. Your thinking more toward the Rightious Brothers, or the Everlys. The Ronettes were sexy with such early R&B songs that tackled sex like You, Baby. And the Crystals were cutting edge. They had songs about dating badboys and most notoriously domestic abuse He Hit Me(And It Felt Like A Kiss). Dismissing their sound, which really opened the doors for black women in music is totally wrong.

  • Yeah, there was nothing "Pleasantville" about most of the girl-groups of the 60s, especially motown. Sweet does a good job with this tune, but she builds off of a very good 60s foundation here. The Everly Bros weren't exactly "Pleasantville" either, unless y'all think Buddy Holly was "Pleasantville" as well.

  • as a daft teenager many years ago I so had the hots for Rachel sweet

  • whats daft?

  • point taken she was gorgeous LOL

  • Great find! I remember her show "The Sweet Life" on the old "Comedy Channel" which evolved into Comedy Central.

Great medley updated for the 80s.

  • The Crystals

  • Aww I like it. Rachel Sweet is a treasure chest of voices. She could of been huge but Stiff just didn't know how to market her. She's probably best known for the Hairspray theme and providing all the female singing voices in John Water's Crybaby.

  • her version of Shadows of the Night was before pat benatar's version and a million times better

  • Whatever dude, those two wonderful groups, the Ronettes and the Crystals, were about as poppy and manufactured as you can get, courtesy of Phil Spector. Not that they weren't amazing, but I think this is great too. She has an amazing voice, the style is just different because of the different era, but heaven forbid it doesn't sound EXACTLY like the original.

  • agreed with cannuck1

  • damn... shes hot! and can be my mother! jajajajaa!

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE

    this song sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    much

  • alright so i saw a play at my highschool and it had this song in it, it was called "leader of the pack" is that a real movie/musical?

  • That's a song, not a movie/musical. Same genre, but not a full feature.

  • i got this on vhs quality is way better than vh1's. from friday night videos

  • not as good as ronnie sang it but she was a good rendition plus she looks very good there

  • Nice.

Could use some more vibratto on the Ronnie song.

  • Poweful enough to compare to LaLa! don't hear that too often.

  • She played George's cousin Shelly on Seinfeld in the contest

  • I love this video.

    Rachel Sweet Fuhreakin rocks.

  • Happy Valetine's Day everyone :)
