She's currently in the Broadway production of "Follies" singing the showstopper, "I'm Still Here" and IS SHE EVER! Great artist and great lady!!

@WarriorAmazonInc You're right about that. Before Evita hit Broadway, Andrew Webber had Elaine cast as Grizzabella in Cats weeks before Cats opened in London. Andrew was desperate for help after Judi Dench who was cast as Grizzabella suffered from achilles tendon rupture during rehersal. The show would have been in shambles if Elaine didn't accept the role.

Will everyone stop saying to give an apology. I said it before. Susan B. comes out on stage looking like she just woke up. No one ever heard of her and she is 47 yrs old. Everyone thought the same exact thing when she walked out, so get off the wagon !!!!
It ticks me off to no end that people scuffed at her openly when she said she wanted to be famous and be like Elaine Paige. They should all give a public apology for their snobbery.

Actually, the original Evita was Julie Covington but it was just the music for a radio show, no theatre production.
The original and very first Evita in the theatre version was Elaine Paige.
