One tip not mentioned...If you've bought yourself a new SD card/CF card for the vacation, don't forget to format it before the trip! I went on vacation and forgot to format my new 2GB sd card. Took almost 500 photo's including bald eagles and a video of a male seagull courting a female, then giving her a fish. Got home and tried to take the photo's off the card, but couldn't because the card reader couldn't read it. Ended up loosing everything.

I went on vacation and never thought about bringing a small powerbar extension. This is a great tip!! They even have powersurge protection on most of them now.
