  • Everybody This Does Work !!! I have just tried to load a .mov file from my Panasonic Video Camera into Windows DVD Maker and it wouldn't work. I created a copy and followed the steps in the video and changed the copy to .mpg , The .mpg file will load into Windows DVD Maker and burn to DVD. This is so simple you do not need a video converter for this type of change.

  • @1234ibanez Thanks for the vote of confidence! It's quite an old vid at this stage. I've gone from XP to vista to 7 to ubuntu since then (and changed laptops). I'm just not that into making vids anymore. Feel free to ask a question and I'll see if I can help out as my account is still active as I use it for subscriptions and making comments.

  • now that you changed this can you edit using windows movie maker or not??

  • Sorry I didn't mean to double post, I didn't realize my first comment posted. But just because the file becomes "playable" doesn't mean that its been converted. The file will play fine sometimes, however if you actually wanted to do editing with this clip, you need to actually convert it. The program I use for .mod conversions is called MpegStreamclip and it actually converts the file instead of renaming it.

I'm a video editor by profession and I can assure you that converting isn't that easy.

  • The only thing this is doing is changing the name of the file, not converting it, which isn't going to help you especially if you want to edit the video you are trying to convert.

  • @littleman06 please don't double post, it's not word for word the same post but it's pretty much the same meaning, why bother rewording something you already posted?

  • All this is doing is changing the name of the file, not converting it. This is not a solution thats going to help anyone, especially if they want to edit with the video.

  • @littleman06 well as i demonstrated, the file was unplayable before and after the "conversion" process it became playable. It not just a simple renaming of the file, i have converted .txt files to .doc files using this method

  • It's a confusing video, but your accent is cool. (: go irish.

  • @pirategirlsj sorry for the late reply, actually late is an understatement *blushes* thanks for the compliment! and as for the confusion in the video, yeah i just started recording with a rough idea of what i was saying in the vid. So in some bits i kinna ramble :(

  • Thanks a million !!

  • OMGG THANKS U SOO SOOS SOOO SOO MUCH!!!

  • lol, ur welcome.

  • How long does it take for you to upload a video, I've been trying to upload one for the past ten minutes.

  • Hey there, i did this and it works.. however it only plays on VLC player with sound. On windows media player it says sumthing about an error downloading codec at the start and then it plays without sound. Dont suppose u would no why? Also the picture quality doesnt seem that great really...how is yours? Maybe its just the camera

  • well is playing it in windows media player essential? try uploading one of the vids to ur youtube account (you could always delete it later) and see if it plays with sound on youtube. The picture quality can be adjusted. This video is shot using the lowest quality setting but my other videos using this camera are better quality.

  • Cool, that look's simple. Thanks.

  • yeah i'm used to non computer ppl asking me to explain things so if you don't understand something in my videos please don't hesitate to ask and i'll explain it further

  • This is great and all...But i can't even transfer my vids over from the USB port. It will just say no files availible.

  • are you sure ur looking in the right folder on the camera?

  • on my camera? Hmmm. What does the folder have to do with anything and how would i even do that?

  • when u plug in the usb connection u see a number of folders, only one of which contains the video files. They should all be in the .mod format

  • ...On the camera i see it says upload. Thats about it.

  • when u plug in the usb connection, when you browse to the camera, you should see several folders. It's one of them.

  • doesn't it come with software to upload directly to youtube? if so then why would you need to do this to the files, it should already be in the correct format for youtube... right?

  • yes in theory but i've not used the software so i donno if it converts the files or not. any time i've used the camera the files have been in the unusable .mod format

  • i need help when ever i try to put it in my video editng software it says this

C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Administrator.BENJAMIN15.000\My Documents\MOV003.AVI could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from

  • what video editing software are you using? does it normally support .avi files? coz u could try converting the file to a different file type like .mpg or .wmv (super will convert the files with ease)

  • i use windows movie maker, i tried avi and mpg but not wmv, ill try it

  • thanks for the video! it makes a lot of sense now! i was gonna be pissed if i couldn't edit using sony vegas.

  • lol yeah, its kind of odd that it records in .mod

  • yeah but what can u do? the conversion process is simple if you know how, but it's a pain having to convert EVERY file.

  • lol i mean non technical, more siumple terms

  • that's what i try to do, i've friends and family who aren't pc nerds so i know how to explain things to ppl who don't spend their lives around computers.

  • HOW DO YOU GET THE ICON ON DESKTOP

  • what icon? the file was just saved to the desktop.

  • btw its gz-ms100

  • thanks for the info!

  • thanks now your speekin english to me lol

  • i always speak english to ppl

  • Cheers again irishgandalf757.

  • glad i could help
