  • poundstone needs no spotter

  • It's not hard to squat 315. Lol.

  • Guy in the back probably put 315 cause he saw Derek shoulder pressing it. If the video was longer you'd see the guy broke his legs

  • @Dietritch098 lol, wot a cracking comment! Brilliant!

  • Good spotting, only came in when the lifter couldn't get the last bit of it.

  • @Pihasanddunes1

Kinda the fucking idea of a spotter huh genius

  • @dietrich098. I was drawing attention to the fact that so many spotters DON'T do that. But good on you for being so perceptive. Awesome.

  • suicide grip, dawg. you one crazy mofo

  • @xthexTxvirusx I'd say it's not really suicidal when you're not benching. I prefer this thumbless grip over full hand while doing seated shoulder press. :)

  • LOL. not hard. i can fold that weight like a piece of paper

  • at 0:50, what happens to the man in the background doing squats, I would like to know if he did it or not.

  • WEll Derek is born big to begin with. I know hes damn strong. But his frame is bigger than most of people. Anyway his shoulder is strong as Branch Warren...

  • If this Guy can lift 200 pound dumbbells for a world record he should be shoulder pressing 405 like that

  • strong motherfucker realy

  • anyone else notice the guy on the left? it took him like 5 tries to get the bar in the right spot on his back haha

  • @dtodaJ5 yeah and the funniest thing is that he's going to squat 315 and Derek is pressing 315 in shoulders LMAO.

  • @ElvisFerbeyre Can you ATG squat 315? I have a feeling you can't.

  • @blueviper42 what's ATG dude?

  • Comment removed

  • @ElvisFerbeyre Ass to grass

  • @blueviper42 I could do it, but I hurted my back like 1 year ago so I gotta take care. What I don't understand is what makes you ask me that question. Can you do 315 military press BTN? I have the feeling YOU CAN'T.

  • @ElvisFerbeyre No, but the point is that 315 is a pretty good squat, and you shouldn't make fun of him.

  • @blueviper42 I'm not saying that it's not a bad squat, but still looks funny when someone is pressing with the shoulders what you squat.

  • good lifting without the use of those phony alloy plates that are used all over UTUBE. that allow one to lift in the picture 50, 100, 250 pounds more than they really can. You use real poundages that is great.

  • Look at the dude in background about to squat the same amount!

  • Shoulder pressing more than I bench wtf buff

  • @churde lmao

  • No thumbs? Dangerous.

  • @liquidforce11389 Suicide grip.

  • @churde lmao

  • @imendhamz The fact that he is the worlds strongest man makes it much worse. People look up to this guy and imitate him to try to be like him. It is an irresponsible move for someone on such a high pedestal.

  • Awesome strength man! Thx for posting :D

  • Suicide grip? Damn I hope kids don't try to imitate this idiot

  • @Gankalank Wouldn't call him an idiot considering he's americas strongest man mate. if suicide grip works for him then he's gonna use it.

  • dereks arms are actually legs....this is actually footage of him squatting

  • I like how this guy always seems to use such good form in all of his lifting. I've never seen him use bad form.

  • Nice

  • holy shit i expected him to at least struggle a little bit with this...he just throws it around like nothin

  • True that

  • this is an incline bench press nigga.

  • @churde you're a retard.

  • @churde nah it isnt. incline would be lower. thats shoulder press bud.

  • @churde you blind? lol..

  • @churde false

  • Despite the fact that they're sworn to uphold the law, it's obvious they DO NOT test police officer's for steroids. Funny, since this dude would certainly arrest anyone he pulled over who happened to have the same drugs he takes in their possession.

  • @mikper7 most of the guys were police officers before they even started juicing. i'm sure derek was, and ronnie coleman same thing. i'm guessing they only test when they first hire you.

  • @steriods4champions Nation's second most powerful union (next to teachers, of course).

  • most people would be scared to be pulled over by this guy, but I would speed past him just to talk lifting with him for a while. I'll take the ticket.

  • thats amazing. and im a big fan of derek, but i think he's alot better when he uses his legs to press something rather than pure shoulder strength. bodybuilders can do that easy. ronnie coleman did that for 12 and evan centopani i think did that in the same gym with ease

  • @steriods4champions I'm gonna go out on a limb and say everyone is probably better when they use their legs to do a press.

  • @adabass16 i know. that didnt sound right. i meant like...youd think he'd do more on seated presses considering he can do like 100 pounds more standing.

  • @steriods4champions you know what also helps those body builders? they aren't 6'1...

  • @eyesack9 what's that have to do with strength?

  • @steriods4champions you don't work out a lot do you?... it's called a larger range of motion....

  • @eyesack9 naw man. never worked out in my life! please teach me all you know! you sound like an expert.

  • @eyesack9

The two he mentioned were close to 6"

  • @shagrath1 a few inches matter

  • great spot but technique is perfection wow

  • Awesome.

  • lmao at the dude squating 315 in the backround

  • @MrTappers >>> 315 is a respectable amount to squat. I wouldn't laugh at that. It's a funny scene because you have this freakishly strong dude beside him shoulder pressing that same amount.

  • @TommyWaters this. most people you see on the street cant squat more than 135lbs

  • he made that look easy

  • It's hard to be too upright with a seated press because your head gets in the way of the bar

  • Shouldn't his back be completely straight?

  • @georgepwner1 well whatever he's doing its working for him

  • @OiAbA True, this guy is fucking massive lmao

  • @georgepwner1 no, as long as its inclined enough that hes using only shoulders and not upper chest. that looks straight enough.

  • Impressive speed for the first few reps. Then gut wrenching, committed strength to finish.

  • Also, he doesn't go full extension like I do with 50lbs more. XD

  • I've seen better.....I can also do better myself, at only 13 and no roids. :P

Check my channel, I have proof.

  • @AndyHarglesis the only proof you have on your profile is that you talk like a child with downs syndrome *no offense to people with downs syndrome* btw, i like your little emo background paper. really cute for a "powerlifter"

  • @foamseahorse Hey, a powerlifter can enjoy whatever he/she wants. That's not for you to judge, cretin.

  • @AndyHarglesis no need for name calling. i was just pointing out how cute it is.

  • @foamseahorse Check out my new vid Andy Harglesis Comes Out - Fan Reaction where I show proof of how much I can lift and prove that I am NOT a pathetic troll once and for all.

  • @13andincradiblycutt no proof

  • @AndyHarglesis talk shit cunt.... theres no way anyones that strong at 13......

  • @samjordangym I am. You needa see my vids! :P

  • @samjordangym It's the 13and incrediblycut, so fuck that prick, better just ignore him or he will kill you with his ridicolous comments about how much he can do.

  • @Mindaugas7100 haha some people just make such stupid claims it hurts my eyes to read

  • @AndyHarglesis

You have no proof. You're not a bodybuilder. You suck at life. Gtfo of my internets.

  • @johnnylukz LMAO your internet? I own the internet.

  • @AndyHarglesis

False. The internet is a global system that is owned by many countries. I said it as a joke and it was funny. You said it and looked like a technologically impaired faggot. u mad?

  • @johnnylukz That... that doesn't even make sense! lol!

  • @AndyHarglesis

Makes perfect sense. You're just a dumb ass.

  • @AndyHarglesis

    Because u mad.

  • I think ill go deadlift that weight...once. haha

  • hes a fucking animal!

  • the bar isnt touching his chest?

  • @johnsonz124 It's not entirely necessary for you to touch the chest when bb shoulder pressing, some guys get the same feel in the shoulders by going just below or to the chin and they don't put their joints in such a dangerous position.

  • negative phase a bit fast but the distance u lift is quite perfect

  • powerful guy holy shit... anyway Im interested in the angle of the seated position during the lift.. doesnt look like its 90 degrees... looks like thiers a very slight incline to it correct? Does this hit shoulder primarily without hitting the upper chest? i usually do my shoulder press on a 90 deg angle 9seat cannot be repositioned)but i do find it kind of uncomfortable

  • @reecekyle no... he's arching his back, its at 80-90 degrees look at the beginning of the vid. it can add support, but i wouldn't recommend too big of an arch, but it is useful sometimes.

  • Is it just me or --- is this bar bending a lil bit? <_<

  • @XxBlackWatchxX the bar looks warped to me, i dont think he is doing the bending.

  • Comment removed

  • @muzimuzi

do you have any idea how pathetic and idiotic you sound?

  • Hes repping my squat max.

  • I wish he would come in to my local 24 Hour Fitness. He'd put all of the cocky jerks to shame.

  • damn i can't even hit this on regular bench.

  • Why would anyone troll on Derek Poundstone? He's the worlds strongest man and he loves what he does. Everyone should be thankful he posts his training videos for inspiration!

  • @Dmac2021 The world's second strongest man :)

  • This guy is a weak pussy...

  • that false grip stuff makes me nervous if it rolls out kiss your butt goodbye..

  • @megaflex48 Thats how I grip everything.

  • Nice incline benching.

  • @rolfeder

It's called an incline bench when the bench is about 35-40 degrees... Not the case here dumbass!

    Keep on trollin!

  • @declerre hes partly right though a true military is str8 he has the back slighly curved but hes still a beast because im squatting with this amount....lol

  • When he brings it down too far it looks almost like a bench press. When he brings it down just under parallel upper arms to the floor, it looks like a solid SP. Keeps the tension on the delts that way.

  • That's borderline incline press. Think the backrest is past 80 degrees there but Anyhow, respect, that's a lot of strength. Love the form.

  • derek poundstone needs to go easy on the donuts, he is so damn fat!

  • @ChesterDoraemon

what ? Oo no he isnt at all

  • lol i can only do 100 foreveralone.jpg

  • beast mode

  • That takes some balls to lift with a fake grip- imagine dropping that, for sure it would snap his legs like match sticks.

  • @MkirkD Most people military press with a false grip. It's superior to the standard grip for overhead pressing and really isn't risky at all. Using it to press overhead is nothing like using it while benching.

  • should pressing is maad annoying

  • @Sherwin930 Your English is even more annoying....

  • I love how the guy to the left is squatting (what appears to be) the same amount of weight LOL

  • @vongSTAA absolutly the best part of this video haha. squating what the guy next to you is shoulder pressing. hahaha. love it

  • @vongSTAA There's no shame in squatting 315.

  • @rolfeder I never said there was? Hell I can't even squat that much (yet), but I'm just pointing out how much of a beast derek poundstone is

  • @vongSTAA yes... but are u sayin squattin 3 plates is weak ? i wonder what u use....

  • @khav11 um, are you stupid? I even said that I can't squat that much myself and can you please point out WHERE in my previous two comments that I said that 3 plates/140kg is weak? as I said before, I was simply trying to emphasis how strong poundstone is. stop trying to start shit zzz

  • @vongSTAA fine by me i didnot see u said u could not do tat weight

sry brah what are u using just asking politely

  • @vongSTAA a 315 squat for reps isnt that bad....better than most

  • @vongSTAA Even 315lb squats is pretty difficult just so you know, and of course 315lbs shoulder press is pure beast...I know I can max out at 150lbs....of course this guy is probably 10 times as strong as I am ...

  • @MrChutzpah2002 ok for the last fucking time, WHERE did I say 315lb was weak? hell the most I've only been able to squat myself is 250lb for reps. I'm just trying to point out/emphasize how much of a beast poundstone is compared to the "normal" human that trains lol

  • @vongSTAA and the guy's so hardcore about it too

  • @vongSTAA thats a good squat lol

  • @vongSTAA dude, to be squating that much is already a hell of an achievement :P

  • @WilliamTheSilverBack Not really.

  • I live in waterbury I would love to meet him I'm a 15 year old bodybuilder and I go to his gym

  • Beast

  • thats how you spot somebody!

  • @TaylorReese04 agreed

  • I love the fact there is a guy to the left getting ready to squat the same weight. Awesome.

  • nice to see someone doing a full rep. all that fags at my gym half rep EVERYTHING they lift. they're only cheating themself!

  • this guy has monkey strength

  • i can do 225pds of seated press and i weigh 205pds for 4-5reps :)

  • Gotta love the guy squattin the same weight on the left.

  • That is fucking insane. All you shit talkers act like you can even do this with only one 45 pound plate on each side. LOL.

  • when i lock out my arms my elbows are higher than the top of my head. no wonder i stink at ohp

  • he does have a gut

  • @nickallah It's called being a professional strongman.

  • @mylesman99 no shit. that comment was meant to answer someone elses q

strongmen are not out to look good, just lift the weight gotcha

  • @nickallah Poundstone has a strong core with very little excess body fat. Any "gut" you see would be caused by increased intrathoracic pressure caused by appropriate breathing when powerlifting.

  • @TheDeacondo i think its more like hes not a bodybuilder where the nutrition is more strict, he can afford to consume excess calories cuz hes not worried about how he looks.. hence why almost ALL powerlifters are FAT. :P sure breathing can stick his gut out even more, and so what if he HAS a gut, hes a powerlifter not a bodybuilder.

  • @nickallah I'm simply pointing out that you are wrong about this specific strongman. Yes, many strongmen are fat, but Derek Poundstone is not. He is one of the few top level strongmen able to boast a defined core.

  • @TheDeacondo maybe im wrong, maybe hes not fat. but to me he LOOKS fat in that video.

  • the thing that impresses me the most is that for a pro strongman this guys pretty lean considering that most pro's in his sport have a noticable gut.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • branche warren can do 20 rep with

  • @jeanseb36 no

  • @valdigurkaa ok then search for : branch warren train delt you'll find it

  • @valdigurkaa Branch Warren trains deltoids !!!

  • @jeanseb36 ok but you can tell branches a** is way off the seat, and look at the back rest his back is way off it like hes doing a incline press plus he is far from locking out the lift.

  • @calebN7127 ok yes but branch warren is not a strong man he is a bodybuilder his form are not perfect but for a body builder its really impressive but you know, mister Poundstone is fucking strong and fucking impressive to , just not the same way

  • @jeanseb36 His presses are more like incline benching, he uses bouncing

  • @valdigurkaa I kind of thought the same thing as I watched, but then I considered what he trains for. He's a strong man looking for functional power. I imagine for strong men and power lifters that bodybuilding is an incidental consideration, more or less to maintain a healthy symmetry between muscle groups.

  • I know he is a powerlifter but his form is so much better than branch warren and johnnie jackson

  • i want him tested...... for human dna

  • this guy is a beast and a half

  • i like how the kid in the background is squatting as much as he's shoulder pressing lol

  • Strong dude but the incline on the bench make it almost like an incline bench press rather than a true shoulder press. Either way, dude is strong!

  • the core of a good shoulder workout.

    strong lifting!

  • he makes it look easy

  • I thought this guy was one of the strongest in the world? Ive seen IFBB pros move this weight way easier

  • @HEYIMATANK true, but this movement, much like most of the usual movements in the gym, are not performed in strongman competition. So, yeah, ronnie coleman could press 315x15, but he would probably not be able to clean and press a log thats 315x10. It's just different training. Basically it's not who's stronger at deadifting benching and squating. It's who is better at utilizing those movement while dealing with awkward obstacles usually while you are still in motion.

  • @Bsnakes very well put...

  • @RoNnYLaUj lol at you telling Derek Poundstone how to train... That would be like telling me telling Kobe Bryant how to play basketball

  • @RoNnYLaUj lol

  • @RoNnYLaUj I agree with azsianwun, LOL!!!! (you know, cause you're a joke and all)

  • @RoNnYLaUj no it isn't. if you bring it down to your chest, you ruin your shoulder... woooooooow

  • He is a Professional he competed in World Strong man get some facts.......

  • one of the few strongmen who could also be a bodybuilder if he wanted to. derek thank you for entertaining the hell out of me last 2 arnolds your a true champion

  • great lift man. all these skinny punny fags make me laugh. most of these guys are little indian fags who wouldnt lift a twig in the gym. they are incapable of putting
