"Es ist ein Roß entsprungen" (in German) means "Once there was a jumping horse" (in English). It's an old Prussian Cavalry song - and normally played much faster...gallop style!
Thank you for your lovely Christmas carols on the lute. All or most of them are well known in Germany as well. Your lute seems to have a very wide neck. How many courses?

Very much enjoyed that. With the holidays coming up, I wish that my lute had an extra two courses. :(
Perhaps I can still adapt your tablature for an 8-course lute.
