  • this is where i want my exhaust to exit on my 01 cummins. was it pretty easy? is it just straight piped from the turbo back? what size pipe?

  • Sounds great. That's a lotta wheel well space.

  • Even after listening to this for an hour. I'm still cumming.

  • WHAT ABOUT THE EXHAUST BREAK? 2008 3500,DOES IT STILL BROKING THE WHISTLE?( AFTER THE RING REMOVAL) COULD YOU LET ME KNOW? THX.

  • WHAT ABOUT THE EXHAUST BREAK? DOES IT STILL BROKING THE WHISTLE OUT?THE WHISTLE IN MY TRUCK JUST WORKS,SOMETIMES, WHEN I USE THE J..BREAK...ANOTHER ISSUE...TO INSTALL THE DOUBLE STACK IT MAKES HARDER... WITH THE REMOVAL OF THE SILENCER RING IT MAKES BETTER?

  • I'm fifteen and I know just about everything about diesels. But I found some holset turbos that came off the dodge/Cummins on craigslist. I'm just wonderin if the turbos are really Holset turbos

  • @SeaDollarsBertram no one cares how old you are

  • I get more turbo whistle than that from my 6.5!!

  • @torque395 and a lot loss power haha

  • this othr vid said it made his egts go through the roof did that happen to you?

  • just wondering.....is there any reason to put the exhaust there rather than running to the back of the truck?

  • @mstep3 looks better.. easier to do meaining you dont have to rout a big ass pipe over the diff and back down under the fender, shorter exhaust system so could be cheaper sound differant and make differant power, lots of reasons man!

  • i removed my ring also but i want to get the BHAF to make the turbo spool sound badass. Mine does not quite ring that loud.

  • Damn fine truck. What is the stock turbo for the 2001 ram cummins

  • do you have to buy a aftermarket turbo exhaust elbow to fit a 4'' downpipe to the back of the stock holset turbo?

  • its got to be broken NO SMOKE!!!!! wtf?

  • How do u get it it to roll smoke?? Just add more fuel or wat??

  • @thomas9781 Turbo delete kit!

  • that's a pussy whistle it sounds like a gym teachers whistle

  • that's a pussy whistle it sounds like a gym teachers whistle

  • thats a pusyy whistle it sounds like a gym teachers whistle

  • thats a pusyy whitle it sounds like a gym teachers whistle

  • total fuking homo.

  • Sounds good man!

  • does it make more boost with the ring gone?

  • @grizzlyman239 ---only in theory. boost-guage won't measure it. Only your ear and attitude can measure it. :)

  • need to turn her up a bit get some smoke rollin sounds good though

  • what do u mean turn it up?

  • @454sskilla ----'turn it up" means "deliver more fuel thru the injectors", and it's something a Diesel guy can do for more power, that a gasser can't. Depending upon the injection system, more fuel delivery can really be as simple as the twist of a delivery-valve screw. Or, emplacing a "chip" in the circuit that retranslates (ahem...lies to) the truck's ECM and fools it into allowing more cubic millimeters of fuel-spray thru the injectors.

Or bigger injectors. Too much for a 500-char. limit.

  • While we were moving from Nevada to Corpus Christi a couple years ago, I was towing a car-carrier with my daughter's jeep and a few cases of garage stuff. Approaching San Antonio on I-10, this one guy kept his truck in my "growl zone" enjoying the turbo music as I went up and down those hills @ about 80mph @ a CGVW of about 12-13K, boost @ about 30psi, and EGT approx. 950*F. He had a Dodge, too.

  • @geddysuncle how do you like corpus is it pretty humid ?

  • @8lugz ---howdy...summertime is pretty humid, but, we've USUALLY got a half-decent breeze. Now the dadgum skeeters, however...those little bastards act like they own the whole damn "361" area code....overall, though, it's good. I like south Tejas. And, being @ sea-level is good for the boost pressure. :)

  • there's two portions of the turbocharger that whistle. The turbine (hot side) shrieks like a banshee while it spins at dozens of thousands of rpms, and you hear that sound echoing down the exhaust. The compressor, which we've been seeing on the video, spins @ exactly the same rpms (it's driven by the turbine, and they're connected by a central shaft) and it makes a howl of its own. The "silencer ring" just reduces some of the suction turbulence as the air stream approaches the pinwheel.

  • what do u have done other then the silencer ring removed

  • @partyboyfreak100 --(mine's an early '98with the Bosch 7100 mechanical injection pump) It's got a BD "off-road only" torque plate in the pump, and their "RV" injectors. Wastegate opens @ 30-ish PSI, and I'm on my 3rd transmission. 4" open pipe from the turbo back, with an obnoxious stainless 5" "baloney cut" outlet, just forward of the right rear tire.

    The factory HP and torque were 180 and 400, but, w/ those mild mods, I'm @ 254RWHP/800lbft....800lbft is why I'm on 3rd auto-trans. :o

  • loud pipes save lives

  • @12vcumminsdiesel I say the exact same thing when people ask, why so loud?.....If bikers can use that excuse, so can we!!!

  • sounds like a box of saturn missles going off haha.

  • sounds good man

  • first time my daughter rode in my re-piped Dodge (4" straight from the turbo down w/5" stainless outlet) she hopped out the passenger door just as I killed the engine....turbo was still spooling down, and she said, "Dad....it's still breathing" with this facial expression 8-o She was about 11, and hadn't heard the residual wind-down before, when the "cat" and the muffler were on... XD XD

And, I think my silencer ring is still in Nevada.

  • thats funny cool stuff kids are great.

  • cool sound :)

  • It can be either, any year. U can hear it on this truck because he has a straight exhaust. The actual ring only effects intake side cant hear it out of exhaust. On the '03+ there is actually a sound restrictor up stream of the ring and it looks like a long x with little holes in it. its in the straight portion of the intake. Pop the glue seal at the top and slide the thing out and then glue it up again. Turbo really sings after that.

  • does it have to be automatic or standard to do this???

  • hey i have 03 cummins could u also take the turbo silencer off of it with out damageing the turbo because i would do it in a heartbeat

  • how hard is it to remove that?

  • very easy. just dont scratch or break the ring. dont need chunks falling into the turbo! :) "cummins does it with 6, everyone else needs 8."

  • ya what the fuck do u drive DICKFUCK!!!!

  • @pullin7eam Seriously man? do you have to drop your balls over a stupid comment?

and before you jump MY case, I drive a 1995 Dodge 2500 with a Cummins 12V.

    Chill out man.

  • you are right about that. alot of dodges are bad atleast most of the hemi motors, but here's where you look dumb. truck may be a dodge but the motor ain't genius thats what makes this truck good. you fail at life dumbfuck...

  • that sounds freakin awesome. the whistle is definately much louder without the silencer ring.

  • can removing the silencer ring cause any damage to the turbo?

  • no it wont damage it

  • Have had mine off for 2 years, and still love the sound!

  • nice turbo whistle man, always love the sound of Cummins Turbo Diesel!!!!!!!!!!

  • 24 Valve 5.9 cummins silencer ring missing with an aFe stage 2 intake and 4" exhaust... one loud whistler!

  • your truck sounds awsome...And do the 2001 cummins have the HX35 turbo? cause im gettin a 2nd gen 12valver soon and would like to take the silencer ring out...thanks 5/5

  • them removal process is the same for HX35's and HX40's

  • @bobby21j 2001 automatics have an hy35. same as an hx35 but with a 9cm housing. 2001 manuals have the hx35 with the 12cm housing

  • @bobby21j and 01 are 24v

  • @bobby21j 89-93 have Hx25's anything after 93 the have silencer ring's....

  • do u think i can make my 04 cummins sound like that

  • ya just straight pipe it dont buy an exhaust package, why spend hard earned money on a exhaust package that comes with a muffler

  • @xtreme879 - Yeah just chop off the muffler (Add a better flowing aftermarket one or nothing) add a filter (AmsOil Nano is best IMO $70), an AFE Torque tube $80, and remove the silencer ring from the inlet on the turbo housing. The Beast SCREAMS after all that! Can be had for $150ish

  • @xtreme879 Even with a straight back pipe, on 03 and up, the different manifold totally changes the sound. If you want it to sound identical to this truck you will need to find an after market second generation 24v exhaust manifold, then find a turbo that will fit it, I'd suggest a Silver 64. Doing all that can make even a 2010 sound like the oldies.

This guy did exactly what I'm talking about

    /watch?v=C4yNc84R_kg&feature=related

  • @xtreme879 There is no way. The common rail injection is much quiter than the electromechanical VP44 injection pump. Much of the engine noise attributed to a diesel...and particularly 24V Dodges of this era are due to the injection pump noise. There is no way your engine can sound like this. The common rail engines are mostly all combustion noise...which is also the sound you get on a gas inline 6. Very similar since there is no injection pump noise on either.

  • How do you take the silencer ring off the turbo?

  • its easy ill make a video of it

  • Is that 4"? Mine comes out exactly where yours does.. mine is 5" from the turbo back, I will have to make the same movie and show you.

  • stock downpipe and pipe to the transfer case then 4" to a 5" tip

  • Ah, yeah I wouldnt recommend doing anything where your stock exhaust is (downpipe), it is a complete PITA, and i DONT have a transfer case to fight! I'll make that movie for you monday..

  • easy on that rig man.... over reving mine set me back a few grand
