  • And in three Months we will run that smothly in Softwaremode... lol But before u all should buy this Stuff! As always!

  • lol...that IS softwaremode. No graphics acceleration used

  • This is based on OGRE3D and use DirectX render plugin, so it IS hardwaremode

  • Meh...Killzone 2's better.

    har-har!

  • People are wrong when they say CORE i7 is not good for gaming!! look at my videos where i have some benchmarks with core 940 and 2 x 4870x2 in crossfire. Super cpu, the best!!

  • They are good for gaming, but for now they are not much of an improvement over yorkfield. Even looses out to it in some cases.(Still talking games here btw).

  • yeh as games aren't made to use the full power of it yet

  • you are spamming people on all corei7 videos

  • Im sick of all this Intel i7 hype. Heres some actual factual proof why intel i7 is not designed for gaming but designed for servers.

    Intel i7+large L3 cache+extremely small L2 cache= not very good gaming performance.

Fact:games Utilize large L2 cache, thats why current dual core and quads are good.

Please read these articles before commenting.

    Intelligent comments please.

  • Wrong! The person that needs to do the reading is you. I'm not sure where you got your formula, but it doesn't hold-up in any scientific test so far.

  • Ever application is using every cache equally! Those cache are not like RAM. They are always full so that the CPU will always have something to do.

The difference between penryn CPU with a lot's of NOT shared L2 cache and nahelem CPU with a lot's of shared L3 cache is that in the first case, data need to go trough the northbridge to go from one core to an other. In the second case, data is kept in the CPU so it's faster. In every case, it will be.

    In fact, it's more complicated.

  • how about a 4GHz Core i7 with a SINGLE SUPER FAT CORE, with 1GB of CACHE, for Gaming. : )

  • 1GB of cache????

    lol.

I suppose it's possible assuming you don't mind having motherboards the size of two football fields; and a processor the size of an aircraft carrier.

    I exaggerate of course.

    ((-:

At current process nodes, what you suggest simply isn't efficient or cost effective.

  • Yeah i agree with you they are supposed to come out with an 80 core about the year 2015. I am suspecting it will be server CPU and they probably will not come out with a main stream version till about the year 2017

  • An array of PS3s can already do this.

  • now AMD will probably make a true 8-CORE processor. : )

  • but AMD still has better price/performance. try and compete with that intel. : )

  • Yea, i agree amd is cheaper, but i think intel is more dependable

  • true.

  • Its not an 8-core CPU..Its also a 4 core cpu.. Similar to quads today..but, HT capabilities just made it like 8 cores because it can handle 8 simultaneous threads...2 per CPU core..

  • yes ht is a core that can do 2 things at once thats smarter faster kinda it is 4 core but people can call it 8 core

  • Intel Core i7 (Nehalem): Architecture By AMD

  • Sure, right.... you capabilities at understanding/comprehending computer architecture probably ends at looking at a block diagram ... a porche and a ford pinto are both cars, thus by your logic we should conclude they are both built the same.

  • were you get that from lol.

  • Um Nehalem is older than even Athlon 64 or Phenom (development started in 2000).

But Nehalem is actually still based on the Core 2 arch which is P III based. So no AMD did not develop the architecture.

  • the AMD influence has cause Intel to change it direction of the whole cpu line , thats why the terminate the P4 and drop back to P3 for a restart , and Intel adopted many idea from AMD .

  • or should i say the P4 has already run to its bottleneck,Intel realize it has go for the wrong direction for all those time and dicide to make a return, and Intel found out the AMD way was the answer for them so the have just adopt its idea and follow its footstep, thats why there are AMD architecture on new Intel chip but Intel just rename the architecture.

  • There is NO AMD arch in Nehalem. They have similar parts, IMC and the interconnect, but they are completely different. QPI is as fast as HTT3.1. But the way they each sork are completely different.

Either way AMDs A64 was not full their own chip. But Phenom is and as you can see Phenom has a few problems, low clock speed for example.

  • even so AMD influence still cause Intel to change it way , but Intel just make it better than AMD with the idea of AMD . because Intel was huge and with it financial power for advance , unlike AMD are smaller and few financial , but AMD always come out with good idea than Intel .

  • Intel and AMD both have great ideas. Have you seen Turbo Boost? It automatically overclocks a Core i7 CPU based on a preset TDP giving better performance.

Intel also had the HK/MG which lowers leakage and heat output by 20% while also improving switching performance by 20%.

Each company has great idead. In fact AMD is planning on a HK/MG for 32nm while Intel has had it since 45nm.

  • That's called market competition.

    All manufacturers influence each other.

+ AMD runs ATI which right now is by far the best gaming GPU system out. Intel has always dominated in the CPU market. AMD takes the risks and invents. Intel and Nvidia perfect.

    It's a symbiotic market relationship.

Personally I would never use an AMD chip.

But I would only use an ATI card.

    :)

    4870x2 x 2 + Nahelem and 12g DDR3 is going to dominate.

  • riiiiight NOT

  • amd had nothing to do with intel i7 someones comment btw

  • man who needs 8 cores there arent that many apps that fully use 4

  • Video Editor's, Graphical Designer's, Etc...

    many more :-)

  • yeah your right there but im talking the avrg user gamer most games arent even optimized for quad

  • i need atleast 4 cores since im just a crazy person running everything at the same time ;p

    games/vmware/dvd burning/videos/music/msn/aim/lolifox/safari/IE etc

my e6600 can just handle it, but i need a 64bit os and a ssd

  • yeah i believe video encoding, 3d rendering, visual effects, and animation will greatly benefit with Nehalem. The movie studios ,postproduction facilities, and game developers (especially Id's founder John Carmack) are clamoring for its release...

  • LOL @ Windows XP booting sound

  • What? Actually AMD copied Intel back in the 80's and early 90's (before the chip name Pentium, which was Intel's way of separating themselves again) but it was on purpose, Intel let them in a sort of partnership type thing.

  • well...that's not a secret,we all know that AMD r licensened to do so because of the IBM need, but the intel took the idea of AMD after K8 r diffrent story, intel took the idea of AMD from the K8 to the fusion, and i heard the intel even blindly copy the manual of AMD64 processor to it new EM64T processor.

  • as soon as mobos that can support this come out their gonna sell out 30 mins tops

  • w0w eight threads w

  • what's annoying is that even with a Nehalem packed under the hood the video was still very laggy... I'm guessing there were between 25 and 35 frames per second, which sorta indicates that either the code for the smoke simulation is still not polished enough, or the application is much more demanding for the CPU than Intel lets us know...

  • Yeah, but you know that it's just a pre pre pre version of the actual Nehalem. Much work to do for Intel but I'm more than sure that the Nehalem will be a devastating good CPU.

  • The CPU only hovers around 60-70%. Isn't this good news, that Nehalem can do this demo without being at 100% all the time? And remember, this is all on CPU power. No aid from any GPU except to display data into image. Based on my comprehension.

  • yeah and up to now their still making it better
