The EPA advised the workers to wear masks, respirators, and pour water on the rubble to dampen the fumes coming from the pile. For many reasons, these precautions were ignored or not followed through on. Regardless, the EPA did not believe that the GZ air was safe to breathe (Manhatten itself, and the WFC are a different story).

When you make swords you dont melt steel, you heat it until it reaches a malleable temperature, a temperature where the metal becomes easier to shape. Sorry, but there's nothing stupid about that comment at all. Even back then they were able to melt old steel and make new ones. Here's another tip for you; Back in 1994 a car pulled in front of a tanker truck on the Long Island Expressway causing a collision and a huge fire at Exit 53 which nearly melted the steel bridge carrying Sagtikos State Parkway over the Expressway. That was near Rosie O'Donnell's exit, so don't hand me that crap about fire not melting steel.
