  • duran duran use this for the beggining of planet earth, and the camera sound for girls on film (back then they used the roland Jupiter 8)

  • Very nice, but some of it still obviously digital, as all 'virtual analog' sounds.

  • Great demo! are these pre-sets or the custom created patches?

    Thanks.

  • A W S O M E

  • Really a good instrument, it´s just a segment of its capabilities like analog emulations that are shown here.

The hardware is also pretty good, i really love the feel and playability of the keys.

It was sold a long time with some upgrades included that basic owners had to buy for pretty much money. The price of this thing back then was a reason not to get one. I played one somwhere back in the nineties in a music store, but couldn´t afford it.

  • The K-2000 is one of the best Sytnts/Sampler on Earth. FAT SOUND!!!!

  • this is so funny to me, i use to work for sam ash music and when this keyboard first came out i think the only person famous thaT was using it was jan hammer at the time i always like And enjoy this keyboard next to the wavestation great for movie score

  • Saw one of these today at a pawn shop, after watching this video I kind of wish I had money to go back and buy it. This thing sounds great!

  • @SrNutritivo : Sure ! PC3 Serie uses "Dynamic VAST" synthesis engine. This is the next step of the K2x "VAST Synthesis". So, except with programs using external samples, all the K2X can do, the PC3 can also do it !!

Morever, PC3 is more power full with more ROM KeyMaps, KB3 Organ Emulation, user algorythms, KDFX effects, arpegiators... ... ...

By the way, if you want to use external samples and/or import K2x programs, you can also buy the PC3k8... :o)

  • Wow.... nice!... far better than plug in emulations. I can achieve the same sound in a Kurzweil PC3x?

  • c

CAN ANY ONE HELP ME WITH THIS QUESTION. WHAT IS THE DEFAULT MODE OF THE K2000 WHEN IT IS FIRST TURNED ON PLEASE

  • top SOUND! REALLY VINTAGE! My Kurzweil hasn't got all of this beautifull sounds! they're really great!

  • @monesizx thanks for watching and for the comments!

  • top SOUND! REALLY VINTAGE!

  • The old K2000 mailing list use to distribute k2000 patches. The most amazing one played "On The Run" from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon just by holding down one key. It was the same patch they used on tour. No sequencers, just a hole bunch of VAST layers. Some layers don't come in for over 3 minutes. I don't know if you can still find it out there on the net, but it's worth looking for.

  • Hi,any one can tell me where can I get a spare Body Case of this keyboard,as mine is completly smash..Thanks

  • please flip the goddamned modulation wheel down next time.

  • Cool -sounds pretty analog.

  • 1:15 possible deadmau5-strobe patch :D

  • I just inherited my fathers K2000 v3. I love it except that i cant hardly carry it haha but i need to find how to do some of the things i know it is able to do. I cant figure out how to load them in or create sounds or any of that. Ive only had a few weeks but cant find the manual... haha

  • thanx for watching

  • I remember walking into a music store in the mid 1990s - was a child of 12 at the time. I started playing the Kurzweil K2000 that they had in there. Man that was a great experience. Now i just bought a rack unit as keyboard space is all taken. Thanks for uploading :)

  • Love that synt still got mine K2000R and still using him a lot.

  • hello, man. I have a K2000 (first model - not the updated version that came later), but I can't find the firts preset of the video. Could you tell me the name of it? thank you.

  • Could Not agree with you More!! The simple fact that one can get one of these for under $400 now is sickening! The VAST engine is soo much more than a ROMpler! If you learn the very complex architecture of this synth there really is nothing it can't do even By todays standards! And to think an almost 20 year old sequencer is way more powerful then an $8k Korg Oasys is testimony!

  • Thanks for putting up a decent K2K demo.

  • @edjwise thanx for watching

  • certainly a very innovative workstation, I greatly preferred it to my Korg Trinity at the time. Hated the dim screen, though

  • Incredible for a 18 year old synth. You've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. (A full programming demo would take weeks.) I have both K2000VP and K2661. These are sample based, and additive, and subtractive. It got just about every kind of source, filter, modulation and effect (K2661) imaginable, and you modify and hook 'em together in most any way. The limits are way out there. Maybe it's just too mind boggling for most. K2661 sounds great IMO esp in 24 bit digital out.

  • I agree, the sound engine sounds great, but it's an absolute b*tch to program. What about the ADSR - It's got three attack points, one decay and three release points... I often find myself spending hours in front of it, ending up with sounds far from what I intended to do.

  • @waveshell I feel ya. I have had mine for at least 6 years and haven't scratched the surface of programming it. You can literally change EVERY parameter for everything- mind blasting!

  • Awesome ! When was it released ? It sounds like Kraftwerk !

  • SOUNDS FANTASTIC - how easy or annoying is it to program this beast, I wonder...

  • The VAST architecture is always based on PCM samples or you have real (digital) substractive syntesis?

  • @SrNutritivo

no i think its samplebased but has loads of modulation possibilities.

    htt p://en.wikipedia.o rg/wiki/Kurzweil_K2000

  • @SrNutritivo Both

  • Great Demo! I have a few vintage analog synths and would have to agree with you here. These are extremely warm and rich patchs, superb infact! Did you create these or are they "eyebrows raised" Factory preset? I may just have to get one of these!!!

  • he's away for a period of time...no internet where he's at, but will reply when he can.

  • @giali76 lol in other words, he's in jail lol

  • @jgk381 :)) not really

  • hi! as far as I remember none of them is a facory preset...I have loaded them in my k2000 from different sources...some are modified by me, some aren't, some are sample-based and of course, some come directrly from k2000's powerful vast engine. thanx for your comments.

  • @JupiterSynth GREAT SOUNDS you've got there. Still better than most soft-synths I think. Which K2000 do you have? Is it the K2000 or the K2000S? I ask because I want to know if these sounds were made using imported samples or only the keymaps of the K2000. I've got a Kurzweil PC361, which I got back in December and I can't import samples on it but just like the K2000 it can make fantastic synth sounds using the factory keymaps and of course, the VAST oscillators.

  • @JeromeLebelMusic I have the K2000S and as far as I remember some of the sounds were made used imported samples

  • @JupiterSynth Thank you!

  • Thanx for watching.

  • Are these the presets? It sounds just like a Jupiter 8.

  • Nice. Thank you.
