Paramahansa from my view on him..........is a farse. The guy is a clown and to be honest.........he is with God........but......so are we all. Plus he's got a fat belly and anybody who doesn't treat their body like a temple and leaves it unkempt is someone I can't really trust hahaha.

He actually suffered from an illness his whole life, and it was very hard for him to gain weight (if you see pictures of him when he was young you can see how scrawny he was). He finally asked his guru for help, and his guru healed him. Ever since then, he has had more meat on his bones. Yogis aren't all skinny, especially kapha dosha yogis! :)

His Autobiography of a Yogi is a great spiritual classic, and an excellent introduction spirituality and developing a personal relationship with God. @mgouvea14 He is saying to sleep flat on your back so that all your internal organs are in proper position without any pressure on them and keep your eyes closed and when opening them you recharge the body . He also says when sleeping just dream, don't think about paying bills, doing this and that etc.
If he really was what he was then yes, he was God on earth, and he was perfect. Even Swami Sivananda gave him his blessing and blessed the SRF aftter Yogananda "left", so if Yogananda wasn't the real deal I don't know who was.
There are MANY fake gurus out there, but Yogananda was real IMO. When I am ready for serious practice I think I will choose him as my teacher.

It astounds me of the ignorance. Paramahansa Yogananda is of the same lineage of spiritual masters including Christ. This video is kind of weird though. I can see why it lead people to think that he was some kind of fool. Yet if one were to investigate his life and teachings, it would be easy to draw a different and more positive conclusion. ~ But that would require some patience and effort. Something that Western society seems to have forgotten.

He shared his wisdom through scientific practices that transcend time and space. It's more than religion or fairy tales, it's science.

@ArUlric7 Actually Yogananda is more intune with what we need in this time, than anyone. If only you had a chance to study the teachings and feel the gurus presence. You would then know this is not just some passing fad, but an actual scientifically proven way to commune with god on a very deep level, eventually leading to oneness with god. At all his SRF centres, i have found nothing but Joy, love and wisdom flowing from its people. There is no judgement, and no trying to say we are better
He was a great spiritual teacher- I'm thankful to have discovered his writings. Was he God?- no. Was he perfect?- no. Did he try to make a difference in men's lives and the world- yes.

He was like god, like Jejus christ. And he was perfect too in another way. Every human is imperfect thats coz the material body is made that way; but if u think of his conciousness he was god himself. And everyone of us are like that, we are gods but dont realise it coz we think we are just the sensory flesh. We have forgotten our eternal wisdom. Jejus was also god, as he was a devotee he used ton say i am God's child ; it was his gretness and obedience to the Parmatma.

I find myself being careful how I treat other people- strangers as well as relatives- you never know when someone just may be an "angel" in disguise sent by God to "observe" you & you're reactions at a particular moment in time. For anyone with any religious concsious, it makes you think of the "judgement" that most great religions speak and preach of. You don't have to be a "pushover", letting others use you- just treating others with common respect they deserve.
@handelsme Yes, you're correct in this. The problem with the world is the diference in the "degrees" of body/soul communion with God between individuals- with the result that jealously, envy and crime runs rampant today among souls not "in-tune" with God as they should be.
Attachment to' One' or concentrated inclination is called Yoga. Yoga is derived from the sanskrit word "yog" which means to get attached. The 'One' can be of various forms may be physics,sports, literature or even God. To remain attached to the One one has to be mentally and physically fit. All these breathing, asana, sleeping etc are just to keep the body in their best of state. The biggest distraction or limitation to the minds capability is the body.
I think there is no guarantee that everyone who does yoga will live for 100 years. The 'Ayush' or Life age is already predetermined mostly. Yoga etc with healthy living may prolong for some more time the life and may live with less diseases. It seems Sri Yogananda has lived a very good life and when he died, his pure body gave a fine fragrance for several days. His body and Mind was Pure and lived a blissful conscious life, which you cannot know. you have to experience it yourself

They don't die, they consciously make the soul leave the body by a 'Thokar Kriya' It is called 'Maha Samadhi' He left his body when his mission was accomplished. His attainment of raising the consciousness of millions is testimony to his credibility. This isn't Hath Yoga, This is Raja Yoga, the royal science of God Realization. Why live a hundred years and suffer the delusion of this world when as a true Yogi you can 'DIE" when you want? OM GURU OM
@elbanydaer It is called Maha-Samadhi ( the Yogi's willing and conscious exit from his body). In other words, he chose to leave his body at will. Do some research before you ask stupid questions....

@elbanydaer Why would he leave his Physical body? We do not only have a Physical body according to Yoga. We also have a Astral Body, and their are infinitude amounts of astral worlds, such as Hiranyaloka. Even the physical Earth and world is considered to be one of the Astral Planes, namely the more lower physical astral planes, but high and low is all relative. Look up string theory in Physics, they are on the right track to finding the Astral World.

sleep is just a reference to health and how people back in the 1920's, 30's etc. did not pay attention to health problems. Back then, people ate steak and potatoes, fried food, drank like fish....this is long before the modern health movement. All Yogananda was trying to do was bring attention to that fact. He is referencing Auryveda, the natural health science of India...that is all. And then on to the connection between sleep and consciousness/ spirituality.

@wdeadman49 Not weird for a Hindu meditating in India- they've been doing it for around two thousand years. They concentrate on the "third eye"(between the eyebrows) to meditate in the unconcious state. I've never read any negative flap on Paramahansa being a money graber at all- just a spritural instructor.

Whenever God comes in human form, some of the humans' first reaction would be to call Him a devil. He actually suffered from an illness his whole life, and it was very hard for him to gain weight (if you see pictures of him when he was young you can see how scrawny he was). He finally asked his guru for help, and his guru healed him. Ever since then, he has had more meat on his bones. Yogis aren't all skinny, especially kapha dosha yogis! :)

If he really was what he was then yes, he was God on earth, and he was perfect. Even Swami Sivananda gave him his blessing and blessed the SRF aftter Yogananda "left", so if Yogananda wasn't the real deal I don't know who was.
There are MANY fake gurus out there, but Yogananda was real IMO. When I am ready for serious practice I think I will choose him as my teacher.

For those unsure.. This man.. Could have lived till 100 no doubt.. March 7, 1952 yogananda set in front of a crowd and said with his spiritual connection it was time to go to heaven.. He then close his eyes and began to meditate till his heart stopped and stop breathing.. He was put into a mourtuary and his intire body preserved with no help at all.. It astounds me of the ignorance. Paramahansa Yogananda is of the same lineage of spiritual masters including Christ. This video is kind of weird though. I can see why it lead people to think that he was some kind of fool. Yet if one were to investigate his life and teachings, it would be easy to draw a different and more positive conclusion. ~ But that would require some patience and effort. Something that Western society seems to have forgotten.

Mankind ultimately seeks happiness in all his ventures. Religions are but branches of the same tree... the tree some call God and some call energy. The bible is a text often misunderstood with all it's stories and parables. Paramahansa Yogananda knew how to contact our higher selves and swim in the eternal bliss. He shared his wisdom through scientific practices that transcend time and space. It's more than religion or fairy tales, it's science.

@ArUlric7 Actually Yogananda is more intune with what we need in this time, than anyone. If only you had a chance to study the teachings and feel the gurus presence. You would then know this is not just some passing fad, but an actual scientifically proven way to commune with god on a very deep level, eventually leading to oneness with god. At all his SRF centres, i have found nothing but Joy, love and wisdom flowing from its people. There is no judgement, and no trying to say we are better

I find myself being careful how I treat other people- strangers as well as relatives- you never know when someone just may be an "angel" in disguise sent by God to "observe" you & you're reactions at a particular moment in time. For anyone with any religious concsious, it makes you think of the "judgement" that most great religions speak and preach of. You don't have to be a "pushover", letting others use you- just treating others with common respect they deserve.

Attachment to' One' or concentrated inclination is called Yoga. Yoga is derived from the sanskrit word "yog" which means to get attached. The 'One' can be of various forms may be physics,sports, literature or even God. To remain attached to the One one has to be mentally and physically fit. All these breathing, asana, sleeping etc are just to keep the body in their best of state. The biggest distraction or limitation to the minds capability is the body.

I think there is no guarantee that everyone who does yoga will live for 100 years. The 'Ayush' or Life age is already predetermined mostly. Yoga etc with healthy living may prolong for some more time the life and may live with less diseases. It seems Sri Yogananda has lived a very good life and when he died, his pure body gave a fine fragrance for several days. His body and Mind was Pure and lived a blissful conscious life, which you cannot know. you have to experience it yourself

They don't die, they consciously make the soul leave the body by a 'Thokar Kriya' It is called 'Maha Samadhi' He left his body when his mission was accomplished. @elbanydaer Why would he leave his Physical body? We do not only have a Physical body according to Yoga. We also have a Astral Body, and their are infinitude amounts of astral worlds, such as Hiranyaloka. Even the physical Earth and world is considered to be one of the Astral Planes, namely the more lower physical astral planes, but high and low is all relative. Look up string theory in Physics, they are on the right track to finding the Astral World.

Back then, people ate steak and potatoes, fried food, drank like fish....this is long before the modern health movement. All Yogananda was trying to do was bring attention to that fact. He is referencing Auryveda, the natural health science of India...that is all. And then on to the connection between sleep and consciousness/ spirituality.

For most people, yoga is simply asanas(postures) to keep body fit; they neglect mind-soul connection.

In my opinion, Panentheism is man’s best attempt at knowing God (which is impossible – See: Isaiah 55:8-9), whereas with Monotheism God came down to Reveal Himself. Both belief systems are important, the contemplative and the Revelation of God. The difficult part is harmonizing and balancing these unique aspects of life. We have the tendency to think in terms of Either/Or but not Both/And.

@wdeadman49 Not weird for a Hindu meditating in India- they've been doing it for around two thousand years. They concentrate on the "third eye"(between the eyebrows) to meditate in the unconcious state. I've never read any negative flap on Paramahansa being a money graber at all- just a spritural instructor.

Besides, Hinduism brings a mixture of good and bad entities into their teachings! Everyone of these people so far that I know of have dark circles around their eyes! That is a sure sign of low level entities using attaching to them!

Whenever this happens, you can rest assure that these people are guided and influenced by wrong entities, although they seem nice and bring good teachings!
