  • I need to go feed my dog toothpaste now...

  • INFLATION, inflation, inflation (as in the point system)

  • Singularis of "king" in Danish is "Konge", but when we use it just before a name, as in "king Charles" or whatever, it's "Kong" - for instance "Kong Christian", for anyone who'd care. Stephen was right, just a tiny bit of side info.

  • BURNING BUSH, 5 POINTS

  • FINALLY we now know the scoring system!

  • @darraghmcgrath18 They don't use this system anymore, the one they use now is very complicated

  • I-can't-believe-it's-not-butter-hamlet! :) Man, I love this show!

  • to alan: 'yes, my dear...?'

    awww :D

  • 1:35

Did he seriously just do a joke about his own attempted suicide?

  • The set looks more like a class room than a television studio.

  • I love that Alan has been coming last since day one.

  • im dutch and honk does not mean house.. huis is house. honk is a base in baseball which in dutch is called honkbal

  • @MrBatsneger2 In the end they say it means 'home', which in English means 'base' as well, in Rounders (Baseball) you get a 'home run' if you get all the way back to the start without stopping at any of the other bases. In any game involving a base, you would use the term 'home' instead.

  • According to google translate "Pronk" means "Showing Off".

    They never explained that one....

  • WHAT THE HOOZITZ? What is up with the set?!?!?!

  • I speak dutch and I will never be able to use the words from this episode with out laughing

  • Sheffield FC (soccer) - 1857.

Melbourne FC (Aussie Rules) - 1859.

    These are the 'official' dates.

Let's get proper historians onto it.

But I narrowed it down to those clubs still going now.

    Forgive me.

  • "Gor blimey."

    At 20:20 it gets mentioned.

In Australia this is associated, loved and hated passionately, with it's most famous football club's theme song.

This football club is older than almost every other football club.

As you know, the oldest football clubs in the world, of any code, are Australian Rules football clubs.

    You didn't know that.

    That's quite interesting.

Perhaps the oldest football club of any code still going now is the Melbourne FC (Aussie Rules).

    Please correct me.

  • 32:45 - "Little chicks." *Fry does odd arm movements* ... D:

  • Why oh why didn't Izzard come bacK!!??

  • @joeols90

He did! In episode 9 of the H-Series he did. The episode is called "House and Home". It's there on Youtube!

  • they all look so young :(

  • They didn't quite have the point system down yet, did they?

  • They didn't quite have the point system down yet, did they?

  • Today my cheese got stuck in a wall lol

    thanks for uploading this!

  • Click on 6:46 to watch Bill do a high pitched fart! lol

  • VERY generous pointing system.

  • On that day, history was made.

  • How is it strange/amazing/whatever that German baby boys are named 'Tim' a lot?

  • Was that an electric fire on the floor behind Alan? o-O

  • Silly me it was unaired! Phew I thought I was going doolally

  • Wow prehistoric QI I don't remember it looking and being like this.

  • They should just abandon the whole getting different people each week thing and just have Eddie Izzard, Bill Bailey, Allen Davis and Rich Hall every week. Not that you could convince the first two to do it, but still.

  • "these are definite absolute facts, from a myth?"

that cracked me up something fierce!

  • I am sorry to correct mr. Fry, but as a Dane, 1) that is not how you pronounce king (konge = kong-uh), and 2) King Kong is still called King Kong.

  • anyone think from those buzzers that eddie izzard was inititally meant to be the 'figure of fun' regular that alan eventually became?

  • @legspinner

I seriously doubt they ever thought they could get Eddie Izzard as a regular. He's one of the most successful stand-up comics on the planet, and he famously dislikes doing comedy on TV.

  • When was this filmed????

  • the dutch words were confusing to me and i'm dutch :p they didn't quite get all of them right :p kloof isnt a gap it's a canion :p

  • I can't decide which set I like better... This one was pretty nice.

  • I love Fry's tie (as usual, I suppose).

  • Eddie is looking like a man but Alan isn't.

    o.O

  • Goodness, what high scores.

  • i feel like watching a panel shows in the 90s so low-tech but still QI-entertaining! :))

  • "We don't do helmet humour here." I think that is the most wrong I have ever heard Fry.

  • i love the set for the pilot. i think it is gorgeous, all it needed was a few massive screens and it would have been perfect for the series proper.

  • Oh no. I'm going to binge on crack Qi and get nothing done tonight.

  • @scientifico i started doing that at 11 pm. it is 2:18

  • it so wierd!

  • I like that Stephen tells the places more than at the end of the show though.

  • How come this wasn't aired? It seems like a test episode, with the handwritten note cards, and hideous set...

  • @sjheiss Pilot episode so in a way yes it was the test episode

  • Last place for Alan, but still the highest score he's probably ever gotten. Clearly they changed the scoring system after the pilot.

  • @TheHighlandSnail The appear to get points for being funny or witty. They don't in the proper show.

  • @richhill17 would be even more popular in my mind, i adore Michael Palin!

  • oooohhhh they look so young!

  • Thank you for posting the Pilot (and the others). For some of us, it's the only way we can watch any episodes. I wish they'd have Eddie Izzard on again.

  • @palach72 Actually, including this ep, I think Eddie was on QI twice.

  • This is strange...

  • Love the fake buzzers.

  • WTF!!! i've never seen this stage set before....when was this?

thought id seen every QI there was.......

  • @jedaaa A, 00. Thus this was the Pilot episode.

  • @tafelzilver haha ya i posted my comment literally 2 seconds into the vid, how many times will i do that before i pay attention haha ;p, still almost as good as the real show though eh...

  • His grammar is terrible. Dat was HET nieuws. Not Dat was DE nieuws. Oh Fry, you idiot. ;)

  • Cool my name's Tim :D

  • The Dutch sentence about WOII and the tulips, is: "Tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog moesten vele Nederlanders tulpenbollen eten"

  • @richhill17 Yes, that's true. Palin pulled out 'at the last minute' and Stephen took over as the host

  • @thomasimon yeah i only found that out yesterday...;p

  • Thanks for uploading!

John Sessions could take some lessons from Kit Hesketh-Harvey on how to know things without sounding like a pompous twit.

  • @snarkishly John does that on purpouse , did you ever see the episode with rory mcgrath? he was trying to be so impressive and you could tell everyone on the show thought he was a wanker lmao

  • Eddie Izzard... why so sexy with that beard? <3

  • @AikoUmbrella

he almost always wears a beard now.

  • Even in the pilot Alan loses. lol'd

  • Sliced and Diced

  • You know, I kind of like this set. Not as good as the current one, but certainly not terrible.

  • You and MrMoody should be famous.

  • @BornMika But then they'd get caught D:

  • You have to remember this was the pilot, and given the great cast and budget there had to be limitations to everything else (the set in particular)

  • @richhill17 Probably not, I have them on playlists, so they flow pretty well from there. I'm going to start adding the XL from previous series that I haven't uploaded.

  • @quite1nteresting Really?! I've never seen tons of XL from the F series. When did they start doing those as well? Around series E? Thank you for all your bandwidth and time!

  • @amadeus9man I think XL started with F, but I'm going to continue looking for E just in case I'm mistaken.

  • THANK GOD, for a new set, buzzer's, TV-screens and proper minuses!!!

  • brilliant, what would i do without you!

  • fry has one of the worst pronunciation of dutch i've ever heard

  • @BadgersDieInAFire Hahaha Indeed it is bad XD But I have heard worse

  • @BadgersDieInAFire Well, at least he tried it! No offense, but 'dutch' is extremely hard to reproduce, if one is not a native. I suppose that's why it is so attractive to try...

  • I am glad they changed the set!!

  • @AmusingYeti Im glad they use the screen for the forfeits instead of the flashcards.

  • @Alowishius Not to mention the screens give more meaning to a lot of the questions with relevant pictures. The footage on the screens has led to a good few number of Qi legendary moments!

  • you're an internet treasure!

  • And that's it for series A.

  • @quite1nteresting thank you

  • @quite1nteresting thank you very very much :)

  • @quite1nteresting thank you for all the QI. Me and everyone else outside the UK are eternally grateful. :)

  • @Llyselise and indeed, inside the UK :)
