Check out the H&K USP. Probably THE best handgun on the market in terms of out-of-the-box accuracy and reliability. I've also found that it has the strongest barrel of any comparable (9mm/.40S&W/.45ACP) handgun out there. The 1911 is the gold standard of handguns. That's what I started on. Find one with a good, comfy trigger and you fall in love. But USP is definatley the best. Well worth the price. They normally go for around $1k new. The MK23 Mod 0 is even better if you find one.
because its like 30 bucks for 100 rounds were as for 26 bucks i can get 1100 rounds so u can shoot a bunch for a little and take the money you save to stock up ammo for your ccw handgun
now my grandfathers Colt McCormick Commander 1911, THATS a nice gun, for a .45 the recoil is very small and controllable, then again I have big hands, the P22 felt too small when I held it =/
I did. Mine was horrible. The little round wedges that are on the slide kept coming out of my gun too. It jammed and misfired from day one. I sold it and bought a new glock 27.
oh yeah :), I'm a big fan of German guns and machinery (cars etc.) my dad used to have an old Volkswagon Beetle (don't laugh) from the 60s and I thought it was a beautiful car, a few times we considered replacing the backseats with a V8 engine, but yeah, Sigs= good, same as most Walthers though, but I think something was wrong with mine
cool looking rimfire but i keep getting bad reports...i was thinking of getting one but i'm not to shure. i'm told a ruger mark 2 is better. any feed back will help...
All depends on who you talk to. Keep the gun clean as you should, and use good ammo, CCI and it should be great. I hear one guy who put over 4,500 rounds through it of the cheapest ammo and never jammed onces.
Just have to keep it clean and lubed like a lady should be!
I have one of these, it's a great gun. Don't get hollow points for this gun though, I always had to pull the slide back to chamber another round. I use hi speed thunderbolts.
This is a good gun for a woman to carry. Though I appreciate the Glock, it does have a little too much power for me. The 22 is an easy and accurate gun and has enough power to stop someone if needed.
Just picked one of these up myself and I have a question for you.
Was yours picky about ammo until it was broken in?
I have only put about 70 rounds through it and it doesn't cycle well at all with bulk ammo, I'd say it only functions properly once every 3 or 4 shots on bulk stuff. It shot great with CCI stingers though, and yours is shooting fine with bulk ammo, so I'm wondering if mine will be okay with bulk stuff after I put more rounds through it
p22 is a great gun for practice especially quick target acquisition and time to first shot. I can empty my p22 on taget alot quicker than my G19. It get dirty fast and gets very inaccurate so yiou can't go through a brick without jams, lodged casing but the first 200 rounds are reliable. Save my G19 for home defense with p22 as backup. Wouldn't carry it since it's too big for its caliber. Waiting for a keltec p3at
haha, im from San Jose Ca.. As far as which gun you want to carry, it really comes down which gun you feel more comfortable with. Personally i like going with a bigger caliber for pure stopping power, so my Glock 30 always rides with me. But any gun you get, the more you go to the range and practice the more composed you are to use it in a high stress situation, so practice really does make a difference. Go to a range and rent some guns, see what you like to shoot. P22 is cool, but i like glocks
as far as im aware for home security etc., a .22 bullet will kill with one shot to the head, and the good thing is is that the bullet is too small to exit the head so its less mess for you to clear up.
.45 will just get blood on the walls and it is a pain to clear up...
I don't understand why people subestimates a .22lr gun, this caliber is used by the MOSSAD (Israel Secret Service), they are pretty good shooters so they don't need a "powerful" caliber, thing that bad shooters beg for!!!!
Its not the gun/caliber, is the shooter, which makes the difference!!!
i beg to differ, having both the p22 and a glock .45, i would much rather take my .45 hollow points over any 22lr round in a self defense situation. The .45 carries so much energy that a body shot will shock the nervous system and take someone down. A 22lr however doesnt have the energy transfer so just aiming at center mass isnt as effective. I guarantee someone on PCP could wear 10 plus 22lr rounds that arent head shots and keep comin. Plus, anyone hiding behind walls cant hide from a .45...
Ok, the .45 has more energy (that is good, but it could be bad too,) if you fail your shoot the .45 will probaly kill someone who is inocent (in a defence situation on a place like a city), with the 22 this can happen too, but the round woludn't go to fast nor to far.
I think is the shooter wich makes the diference, but it's just my training and poin of view.
you sound like you know alot about shooting people. however, i agree with LRTICO. you can have the biggest "gun" in the world but if you don't know how to use it properly, then it's just another piece of something that you can throw at somebody (and hopefully you hit with).
agreed ui have mine out it jams a lot and mine has a trigger latch issue my trigger will move and the gun will cock back, but it won't fire, i'll take any suggestions, too, it's been broken for a while
yep, everythings fine, i think something might have pulled out of place the trigger won't catch on something, the trigger is primed and all, but won't pull onto the next stage, i've jiggled a few parts, and i don't want to take it apart since i don't want it to like explode(parts everywhere) in my face
I had a couple problems with that when i first got mine, it took a while to break it in, then it's worked fine ever since unless i shoot 500+ rounds in a trip it starts to get gunked up
You distroyed that dish. About how many rounds do you have thru your P22 by now? I blew up the barrel on mine with only 2800 rounds thru it. I'm trying to decide if I should purchase another one. I am concerned about it's durability. Thank You. sincerely, JAMES.
I have had both the Walther P22 and have recently bought the Sig Sauer Mosquito. I think the Mosquito is a better gun, plus its size is more realistic to a higher caliber gun. Just a thought, check it out.
most people know that a magazine is call a magazine its just everyone else or shall i say the people who dont really know about guns call it clip.......whenever i talk to people who dont know about guns i call a magazine clip also just so the other guy knows what im talking about
the problem is...many people call a magazine a clip...you're the only person i've ever heard call a car a "magic wheel thing"...so your point isn't valid because if you say magic wheel thing, no one knows that you are talking about a car...
i hope you didn't work too hard on that proposal...
you're an idiot, there was not one spelling or grammar error in that post...and you can keep calling it what it is, and the rest of us will let it slide as long as we know what is meant...
i have a p22 just like that and the only problem i have ever had with it is that it has some problems cycling winchester Xpert high velocity rounds but it cycles all rimmington and all other brands that i have tried just fine, awesome gun i love it!
Put about 500 rounds through a P22 in quick succession and I guarantee you will get a failure to eject, stovepipe, etc. I love my P22, its a blast to shoot and very accurate, but it cannot run dry. I personally expect a "reliable" handgun to be able to go 500 rounds without being cleaned or greased and I don't think that is too high of a standard. (My Beretta 96 and XD can both handle this easily).
Why would you do that? My brother is a SF/Ranger and every day after firing their weapons they have to clean them. The P22 isn't difficult to field strip so why not clean it after use? Do you not clean your 96 and XD as well? Why does one spend that much money on a pistol and not clean it? You fire 500 rounds and have a malfunction. That is not unreasonable especially if it isnt cleaned.
I agree with trentley87; a highest quality gun is one which can be fired repeatedly and not REQUIRE cleaning. Take the kalasnikov for example, a superb firearm mainly because of the abuse that it can handle.
For a semi-auto pistol though, the P22 is a beautiful gun.
Any other Walther won't have a problem with 500+ rounds, but any .22 hangun i've seen can't go as long as a centerfire. To me it isn't too much of a problem simply because .22 is so cheap =D haha
but when if your at the gun range shooting 1000 rounds out of it you cant stop and clean it right then and there you just gatta find the ammo thats right for the user...
Field stripping and patching the barrel takes all of <10 minutes. You must be under a time constraint to not be able to do that. Do you clean it upon getting back home? Or does that take to much time too?
I clean my weapons obsessively. In fact, I detail strip my guns after every few thousand rounds. What I was saying is that the P22 will run itself dry/foul itself up within 500 rounds starting from a perfectly clean state. Of course, many small frame handguns have this problem. Also speaking of field stripping the fact that you need that little rod to put it back together is kind of a design flaw, in my humble opinion.
it's funny because the close camera angles make the p22 look reasonably decent in length like any other 9mm when in fact it is tincy. here in australia we're only allowed the 5 inch for some reason.
Wow, the dramatic music and cool camera angles sure make that cute lil P22 look Bad A**!! Seriously, the P22 is a very cool weapon. I just bought one so I can go to the range without going bankrupt any more. The price for multiple boxes of 9mm is killing me.
true a .22lr is not good for self defense but a .22lr subsonic round is excellent for stealthy offense. if you have the time to aim and you dont want anybody to hear you use .22 sunsonic or a supperssor i perfer .22 because a good supperssor is to expensive for 9mm+
guys hes shooting .22's there like 10$ for a brick. for stupid people- A brick is around 500

I personally expect a "reliable" handgun to be able to go 500 rounds without being cleaned or greased and I don't think that is too high of a standard. (My Beretta 96 and XD can both handle this easily).
trentley87 3 years ago

To me it isn't too much of a problem simply because .22 is so cheap =D haha

can you share distance and number of front sight you were using?
juanpablopreciado 3 years ago
Distance is about 35 feet. Although the gun comes with three sights, I've never taken the factory off.

smoof60 3 years ago

Field stripping and patching the barrel takes all of <10 minutes. You must be under a time constraint to not be able to do that. Do you clean it upon getting back home? Or does that take to much time too?
DCF60 3 years ago
I clean my weapons obsessively. In fact, I detail strip my guns after every few thousand rounds. What I was saying is that the P22 will run itself dry/foul itself up within 500 rounds starting from a perfectly clean state. Of course, many small frame handguns have this problem. Also speaking of field stripping the fact that you need that little rod to put it back together is kind of a design flaw, in my humble opinion.

Sorry to disagree Bond used a PPK in 32 acp or 7.65 mm Sean Connery that is mostly. #2. show your 'rapid fire groups' on paper

WAY TO GO CHO!
BrendanIsCool 3 years ago
yes, it is the bond music, but that last bit..wronggggg
in the orignals bond used a .38 Walther PPK.
in the newer ones, Bond uses a .40 Walther P99, which is the 'bigger brother' and inspiration for the P22

What does more damage a hollow point or a full metal jacket round? Thanks
D33Lux 3 years ago
A FMJ round has better penetration, while hollow points cause more soft tissue damage.

This thing cracked me up!!! That was awesome!

it's funny because the close camera angles make the p22 look reasonably decent in length like any other 9mm when in fact it is tincy. here in australia we're only allowed the 5 inch for some reason.

nice...where can you get the 4 inc barrel?
waltherp22freak1 3 years ago
I think you only have a 3" or 5" option. And really the 5" is just an add on to the 3".
Nathangraphics 3 years ago
You can switch between 3.5 inch and 5 inch by swapping barrels and installing the compensator for 5 inch.
MisterTroyDarkevour 3 years ago
Wow, the dramatic music and cool camera angles sure make that cute lil P22 look Bad A**!! Seriously, the P22 is a very cool weapon. I just bought one so I can go to the range without going bankrupt any more. The price for multiple boxes of 9mm is killing me.

Awesome Vid, thanks for sharing.
Tyfa18esuper 3 years ago
Same stuff I use for my .22s. Cheap and works fine, but I mainly use it for practice and sighting. I go for higher grade when hunting.
MisterTroyDarkevour 3 years ago
true a .22lr is not good for self defense but a .22lr subsonic round is excellent for stealthy offense. if you have the time to aim and you dont want anybody to hear you use .22 sunsonic or a supperssor i perfer .22 because a good supperssor is to expensive for 9mm+
mikedelta09 3 years ago
Now you need a silencer for that!! The P22 makes a great silencer host and the fun factor only increases.
