PS, thanks for the kind words, and you are correct, we did audition bass players once when Dennis had gone on the road with Let's Active or Mitch Easter or something but ultimately, he came back and we never had to replace him. hope life has treated you well!
I also have a new passion that I spend most of my time on these days called the Anti Drudge Report. check it out!
You can find CFC tunes online at myspace or broadjam and if you really want, there's tons of websites that sell our old cds, but we've never earned a penny from any cd sales, so I'd be glad to send free mp3s to you if you want, send me your email address.
Great band. I'd like to get (actually purchase) Crossfire Choir music. Is this possible? I have it on vinyl but it would be cool to have a digital version. I actually auditioned for the role of bassist back in 1985, I believe. Didn't get the gig but you guys were very nice. I think your bass player ended up staying after all. Maybe I just had to convince myself of that so I could go on. : )
Mom? Is that you? >just kiddin, my mother isn't even a fan of my "dramatic warble" as that bastard Ira Robbins from the Trouser Press described my singing style. but seriously, I'm not sure who wrote this, but I thank you and commend your excellent taste! PS, please check out my newest endeavor, the antidrudgereport
One of the great rock and roll vocalists -- J Pounders joins Streetheart's Kevin Shields, both -- should be right up there with Jagger and Morrison and the rest. They are original, creative, consistently good and never disappointing. Have "Back to the Wall" vinyl lp and a few others I could find + one CD. Never needed to hear the songs first before purchasing, always knew Crossfire Choir and Pounders could deliver and they did.
I've been looking for this song for EVER~!!! Thank you. I had a cassette taped from WLIR-FM (Long Island) that had an awesome acoustic version of this song. I wish I could find that, too, but this is great. I wish it was on iTunes!
glad to hear someone remembers it....feel free to post on your facebook page, etc. >btw, I'll be performing Canary Song at my solo acoustic performance this Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 at Genghis Cohen in LA. C'mon down!
In the thumbnail pic for this video... I'm the guy in the cap in the center of the frame. Even though it was 22 years ago, I remember that day very fondly. The band was really cool to everyone who came out to be a part of the filming. :)
I saw this band warm up for Chuck Berry at the Ritz NYC. I thought they were really talented. I remember they played this song and was excited for them after it received some airplay on 92,7 WLIR/WDRE.
I remember that gig, too. Actually I think we did a version of Ray Charles's "I Can't Stop Loving You" during which I had one of those "this is as good as life gets" moments where I looked up at the ceiling and realized how lucky I was at that particular instant. I was right, I hope I have another of those sometime. thanks for remembering!
i remeber crossfir where the GODS os CBGB and Court Tavern for a time. This song as i recall was recorded live over a weekend with wlir radio. what a cool fun band with great tunes. the greatest of an era. dave bollard
Jay! Thanks for posting this! Man, I played my "Crossfire Choir" cassette (every copy I owned) 'til they couldn't be played anymore. I found a copy years ago at Jack's Music in Red Bank and still have it. Heck, I even have two Crossfire Choir fan club letters Eddie Freeze sent me from like 1989.
I sent my cousin, Lee Forman (from Fair Haven, NJ. He used to hang with you guys and is still friends with Steve Scanlon), this link and your myspace link.
Heard this lovely song ONCE in 1988 on WXRT (93.1 FM Chicago) and drove my self crazy scouring record stores for a copy. A real joy to listen to 20 years later. Thank you so much for posting!
the crowd scenes are real>we' recorded the song at night over a one-week period and a radio station had been doing live "remotes" all during the week to show the progress of the song come together...and we told anyone that wanted to sing on the record to come down to the studio the last night...so many people showed up that the cops were called..and we talked them into letting us film them for the video before making everyone to go home.

Beautiful. I believe I remember seeing Crossfire Choir perform this song at the Rutgers Student center. Loved it then, love it now.

having only been a fan of your music for the last few years, it was so fun to see a blast from your recording past.

Something tells me that the enthusiastic crowd is taken from a clip elsewhere. Good song, nonetheless.
I had to do a double take at 3:51-- hilarious! "My canary, my canary!"
