@yammayammaman I "googled" Bunk Johnson and on "redhotjazz" (among others) I found confirmation of this video poster's comment which I quoted to you because you didn't bother to look before you said that my post was "untrue". Nowhere did I find anything to support your hypothesis that he was "bunking" at friend's homes. Then you say my sources are notorious for errors and misinformation but you don't give any source for your supposition... how do you know what you said was true?

I didn't make that up, that is something widely known about the man. You can look it up yourself by googling the man, or you can even READ WHAT IT SAYS RIGHT HERE ON THE POST FOR THE VIDEO ITSELF! (click Show more)
"William Geary ( Bunk ) Johnson, had a really bad habit of stretching the truth or talking pure bunk, hence the nickname."
@talismansoul All depends how authoritative and valid you consider the source of your information. Google and Wikipedia are notorious for their errors and misinformation and should therefor never be relied on.
Only the actual argentine bands do play this style and sounds alike: Small jazz Band,Grupo de Jazz Santa Rosa,Louisiana JB,Creole JB,Eureka JB,Delta JB,Caoba JB, etc etc etc etc

At the city of Mar del Plata, south of BsAs,Argentina, there is a band called BB and the leaders name,is Esteban Garvie, whos nick name is Buddy Bolden....cheers.-
He was CERTAINLY NOT born 1898, he would then be one year younger than Bechet. Look at the photos of 1945, already Bechet looked "old" at the age of 48, but Bunk much older and Bechet played with him as a boy.
i LOVE bunk johnson, everyone should listen to this great man, a perfect lead trumpet and a wise man to boot, wish i could have met him, one of the reasons i love jazz so much, thanks for the nice tribute to him, yves francois

I love this style of Jazz.
The last sentence on the info panel caught my eye...
"William Geary ( Bunk ) Johnson, had a really bad habit of stretching the truth or talking pure bunk, hence the nickname."
That's pretty funny....

@talismansoul And untrue! He got the nickname 'Bunk' because he was always sleeping at different guys homes; "Bunking".
