The sticker in the back window of mine says ;look I survived the scrappage scheme, It has more patches than grannys quilt but soldiers on relentlessly and never fails to start, I drove it around with the points almost shut and timing at 30 degrees when I bought it and never realised 'till I noticed a misfire at 60mph, tough as old boots
America got the scrappage scheme right, i believe nothing built before '82 could be scrapped. I sware, if I ever meet the person who traded this in...
Yet another nice classic of the road, replaced with some cheap jibe Korean square tin box, who for sure won't be driven around as a classic in about 30 years. Makes me sad to believe that there are actually people who believe this is good for the environment. The world is full of idiots.
really can't believe the people doing this , how mindless. would you take a sledgehammer to an aston martin , a lambourghini or a ferrari ? well why a lovely little morris minor 1000 ? that's a classic in it's own right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a waste... those cars are tanks, just today i saw my oil light would not go out & the temperature gauge was faulty for a while so i checked what was wrong. Bottom hose had come off the radiator. It had been running all week with no water & almost no oil, towing a trailer for one day & still runs like a clock (well, an old clock) Toughest car i ever had
Find the owner of that car and scrap them!!! True classics being destroyed to make way for chinese built shitters. The government needs a kick up the ass for introducing the scrappage scheme.
Its crazy what cars have been stredded, my brother works at a scrap yard and regulary sends me pics of mint cars brought in from the scrappage scheme which have to get crushed, scoobys / BMWs / GSIs etc etc
If I was the scrapyard owner, I took all these classics to another place far away from the shredder and let them survive... This view makes me so sad...
that is unforgivably evil. those are real cars. real fucking cars, way more reliable than the trash this fake society of today churns out. and they look better too, and they're built better.
all the government had to do was copy the USA and limit it to cars less than 25 yrs old...though even then some gems were lost. Still-the mindset of the sellers has a lot to do with it-esp thouse who bought an old car to avoid the road tax
I love classics, and this is a total disgrace. Hopefully this stupid scheme will end soon, or at least the dealers will wake up for once and notice that these are rare cars worth more than 2k. Yet look on the bright side - You don't hear about many classics being scrapped, only the odd one. There's millions of Moggies round the world. They're often rescued and restored.
What a waste. Motoring heritage down the pan. Agreed. Whoever made that decision needs a hefty slap. They could have easily got more than the £2000 if they sold it to someone from the owners club. Morons.
Bloody ridiculous! The government should definitely have exempted cars over 25 years of age.
What kind of idiot would even consider trading in his / her classic car to get a few grand off some anonymous piece of plastic?
I mean, why even bother owning a classic car if you obviously don't give a shit about it?

This is the part where you destroy the hydraulic lines for the crane...
Or punch the crane operator in the face, and take the car.
