  • i take a tooth pick and i take 1/2 a grape... they get there water from there + nutrition that insects dont have...

PS: I have 6 mantis types and they all will eat from the grape after you "LIGHTLY" tap there mouth with the juicy part. You ill have to repeat this alot of times b4 some HYPER MANTIS run or jump off...

  • u mean a real grape (not grape juice)?

    thx 4 the interesting tip.

  • yes, just a Grape. Cut in 1/2, lightly squeze then hold on a tooth pic..

  • what you cant just have a water dish?

  • thats a good idea!

    thanx 4 the tip.

    sorry about my late reply....

  • No having a water dish can be potienally fatal especially for the little ones, the best thing is to have a damp towel.

  • @ACEDcomputers thank you for reopening a dead comment.

  • oh nice...I'ma try that but with hard liquor

  • My mantis is wierd. I have to wet my finger and the it will drink.

  • thats cool!

u must post a vid of that.

  • Hey!!! Im going to be a mommy of 5 oothecas in a week :D Im super excited and wow... all your videos are incredibly helpfull so far. :) Im getting 2 oothecas of acontista concinna, 2 of sphodromantis lineola and 1 of musonia surinama.. any tips???

  • hi, ur welcome.

im afraid i cannot help u very much cuz my experience is limited to japanese native mantid species.

just make sure to close a lid of jar/tank, or they will cause a biohazard, spreading all over ur room. lol

    good luck!

btw, im gonna release some vids about the mantid explosion from oothecae of Carrhotus xanthogramma.

they hatched in the morning a few days ago! :)

  • That is awesome!!! Thank you very much!, I already bought a bunch of cases for them :P I live in Mexico atm so the species I got are considered "exotic"

  • oops, i meant to say;

mantid explosion from oothecae of "Statilia maculata".

    silly me!

(looks like i screwed up in copy-paste)

look forward to seeing ur mantid babies soon.

  • oh oh wait... isnt the carrhotun xanthogramma a spider???

  • GIVE HIM LSD!

    GIVE HIM LSD!

    That would be cool!

  • lol.

i know the classic experiment with drugged spiders.

  • 勃起した私は以上でしょうか?w

    I'm election! Wow sexy!

  • where would one find a Praying Mantis in Canada?

    More specifically, British Columbia, Canada.

    Thanks.

  • Do you know omusubi-atama? She is very toy.

  • no, i do not.

but i can imagine what it is. :)

    mantis head is triangular.

    thx for watching.

  • Great close up! Its SO CUTE! :3

  • i am glad u enjoyed my vid clip.

plz make sure to share a vid of ur pet mantids with us!

  • I will when they hatch lol.

  • She's very pretty. Quite interesting.

  • nice vids and all, but why all the ?????????????

  • u may need to install japanese fonts in order to read my japanese text and title.

    thx for watching!

  • ahh- i was just wondering is all. nice vid.

  • This is probably the sexiest mantis video I've ever seen. Purely because of the music.

  • my giant asian mantis drinks in a droplet of water falling on the leaves LOL haha

  • She's lovely! I've never seen a mantis drinking this close. I just got my first Chinese mantis nymph yesterday, I can't wait until he gets big like yours.

  • thx for watching.

good luck and take good care of him!

to tell u the truth, i have never succeeded in rearing mantis nymphs....

i always could not provide enough small bugs for their meal.

  • Aww, that's too bad. Where I live, we have many, many small bugs. It shouldn't be a problem for me, lol.

  • AAAW! tht is so adorable! i will have to try this with my mantis!

  • ya, she was miss photogenic.

    so lovely.

do u have a pet mantis, too?

if possible, let us see the vid of it.

    appreciate ur many encouraging comments!

  • will do, i brought TARACHODES PRAYING MANTIS as a nymph just waiting to recieve it now.

  • very nice idea, are mantids easy to handle? i just brought one and wondering wether they are easy to hold

  • no difficulties to handle, though my rearing experiences are limited only to adult stage.

their forelegs cannot reach you if you hold the thorax near armpits from behind.

say hello to ur mantid and good luck!

don't forget to take videos of its growing and post at youtube!

  • I believe all mantids need water. People who say they get plenty of water from their food don't know waht they're talking about. When a mantis starts licking the sweat off your finger, you know they're thirsty!

I used to give my mantis water off of my finger or let her drink it straight from a faucet. If you can maneuver her correctly so she can lean over and drink from it, it's a very adorable sight to watch. ^_^

  • Thank you so much for your feedback.

Hmm, it looks more and more controversial and confusing.

I was once told by an experienced breeder that mantis will have lose bowels or vomit if you give it excessive water.

Please share the video, if you have, of your mantis drinking water straight from a faucet!!

I was bitten by mantis when I gave her water droplet off my finger....

  • rly??? i never knew u have to give water to mantises

  • thanks for watching.

well, u don't have to necessarily.

some breeders in jpn like to feed mantis water and some don't at all.

maybe it depends on which species u have.

african desert mantises need not water, i guess.
